Does anyone have a suggestion for a camera to take great digitals at WDW? Right now I have a Canon PowerShot but would like to get an upgrade before my trip w/better zooming, etc. Thanks in advance :)

P.S. I don't want to cause any confusion :P I know the photographer makes the camera, not the other way around... just looking for some input.

Which PowerShot?

Are you looking into a DSLR or another P&S?

According to the DIS DSLR crowd, there's a great deal going on for Pentax DSLR (something like camera body and two lenses for about $550) ... I'm sure one of the Pentax guys will post the specifics....

If you're looking for a better P&S, there a number to choose from:

Canon PowerShot S3 IS
Fuji S600fd, S9100
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5/H7/H9
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50

You can find details and reviews at the Digital Camera Resource Page; really good/thorough/fair reviews! :thumbsup2

Also take a look here: http://www.steves-digicams.com/best_cameras.html

It sounds like you may be looking for what is usually called a "superzoom" or "bridge" camera, which is basically a point and shoot on steroids, lens-wise.

It might be helpful to know your budget and intended subjects, too.

Thank you both for your help!! I am looking to spend about 500. Yes, something with good zoom! :) I would like it for WDW shots (just about everything...people, nature, scenery, characters, etc) and then also, for shots for ebay pics. I have lighting & backdrop but things like dis jewelry, dis pins, etc...the closer I get, I can't ever get them focused (on my Canon, I don't have any way to adjust focus).

I'm sorry I'm such a newbie at this...and used to P&S but would be open to trying new things! :) :) I will definitely check out the Digital Camera Resource Page you posted!

Thanks again~!!

Sounds like the pentax deal might be a good fit for you....

Groucho should be by shortly :)
