Since DD was born in 03, I've been coasting on the breast-feeding calories, but now she's starting to wean & I'm up to 192 lbs. :sad2:

I've been trying to add some excercise to my basically sedentary life, but it's really difficult with a day-job and taking care of the baby in the evenings. When she naps in the late afternoon (which is erratic) I can manage to get on our treadmill and put in 20 minutes or so (yes, I'm working my way up to 30+, but I want to make sure not to over-do it).

Anyway, I know the key (for me) is to make this a habit, like brushing my teeth. I just don't see how to do it in the craziness of my life. I'm up at 5:30 to get to work by 7:00, work 7:00 to 3:00 and either watching the baby or doing housework until she goes to sleep @ 7:00ish. Then dinner and bed for me.

Any suggestions?

Why not put the baby in a stroller or in one of those back pack like baby carriers and take her on walks outside with you. The fresh air would be very good for her and a great bonding time for you both.

I love jana's idea! I do remember those days of having a baby in the house and I clearly remember the exhaustion I felt . Can you fit in a 10 or 15 minute walk at lunchtime or breaktime at work? Every little bit helps!

There are exercises you can do WITH your little one. Get down on the floor and make it playtime. I bet your child would giggle with glee watching you do crunches or push-ups and trying to imitate Mommy! Start small.

Maybe your focus should be on other small changes you could make, like drinking lots of water or eating food for breakfast and/or lunch.

Best wishes! :sunny:

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the idea of working with my DD, although the outside walk is dicey (we live in an area where the wind blows pretty hard most of the time). I'm sure I could do crunches push-ups in her room. We already do "baby-presses" where I lift her from my chest straight into the air.

I've been drinking lots of water. I go through 32+ oz. a day at work, and more for dinner and in the evening. I'm trying to shave little bits off my calorie count - by drinking water instead of soda, or leaving a little bit on my plate at the end of a meal, or cutting down on sweets. And I'm trying to add more fruits & veggies to my diet - it's hard, since I'm basically a carb & protean kind of girl.

I'm hoping that I can help motivate myself by checking in here & seeing how successful you all are, and getting ideas about how I can be successful.

Thanks again.
