Another way to make a little extra cash for our Disney funds

I got one review under my belt this month, but now I'm recovering from oral surgery and can't make videos because I'm lisping and will probably drool all over my products! Hehe!! Oh, well, it was a rush to get that first video approved so quickly. Just hope no one reviews my stroller, since it's still on "the list." Hehe!

I know that feeling! Our last trip to WDW, I had a fever of 102 our last day, but I HAD to review Shades of Green before we left! So my review mostly consists of me sitting on the balcony, sans-makeup! I have another batch of videos in Mid June that I'm talking funny becasue I had strep throat!

I've had 3 approved so far this month, and I'm hoping for at least 2 more before the end of the month. We were gone last week and will be gone again this weekend, so I just haven't really had time to get too many done.

TotalSnowWhite~I got an extra $10 for my stroller review from last month. Nice perk for something that I needed to get a review done on anyway :thumbsup2 .

I still haven't done any this month. Just can't get into it.

I sure hope they are still fixing a glitch. Even with the extra $50.00 payment, it still seems incorrect. They stated they would pay "slightly less" for the 3 categories that went over the limit. I did 7 videos, 5 of which fell in those categories, 2 of which didn't. I made $45.00 total on those vids. That means they paid $5.00 each on those 5 videos. DH only did 2 videos, 1 that was a decreased payout, one not. He made $15 total. Again, $5 for the decreased payment. I don't consider $5 "slightly less" than $10. I consider $9, or $8 at the minimum, slightly less than $10.

Has everyone been paid for June? Was it what you were expecting?

It was confusing to be sure...
I recieved the $50 payment for the questions
But for videos, I recieved $165.21, which is $20 short considering:
$5.21 for PPP O.K.
But I had 17 videos approved for payment, so I'm short $10 there, and $10 for a stroller bonus (it is still on the list)
I didn't do any DVDs, groceries or books!
Hope they fix that glitch! I know its only $20, but still...

I am sooo sad! I will probably not be able to do this because I am from Canada. :headache: I stay at home and the extra $$$ would have been great

They are now saying that all payouts are correct. So $5 for inflated categories. That is NOT "slightly less" than $10! It's not right when uploading (prior to announcements of inflated cats) that we think we will get around $10 only to get $5! Are all categories going to eventually get inflated where they are paying $5 but advertising $10 at the beginning of the month. Quite disappointing!

My approval rate is now showing @ $8.71...but the payment amount didn't change..they just moved some numbers around so it made more sense.:confused3

My understanding is this:
Deduct any videos you had in the 'bloated' categories (DVD's, book, food & drink).
Those are worth $5.00. :sad2:
Then take whats left and those are worth $10.00

Add your totals and divide by the number of total videos you did and that is the payment amount for each video.

I totally agree with carmie3377. $5.00 is not slightly less that $10 (obviously).
Those of us who had ours in the first week or two now pay the price for people who continued to review in those categories even the expo announced they were 'bloated'.
Why don't they just shut the category down for the month once they reach their goal/limit? Now they have a bunch of irritated people because they were not clear with the expectations.

Totally agree. I posted on the expo forum that it would be best if they shut the categories down once inflated. I expected $8-9.50 for the bloated categories, not HALF.

I really don't know if I want to continue. To work SO hard demonstrating, ect then to get only $5 is so disappointing. I guess the only option to be would wait until the last couple days of the month to upload when it will be too late to announce any bloated categories. I won't be announcing that on the expo forum.

I wasn't sure what the slightly less payment would be but did kind of expect it to be around $5, still much better then when i was doing it for $2.

"Slightly" less than $10 would be $8 or $9. $5 is half. Such a big difference from "slightly". I'm disappointed this month.

August Announcement: National Availability

Hi everyone,

Beginning in August, we will be implementing some changes on qualifying for upfront payments focused on the availability of the product. There are two new standards that you should be aware of when planning reviews:

a) the product MUST be available for sale in new condition on the internet to U.S. citizens

b) you should NOT state in the review where you purchased the product
For those interested in the “why,” details follow and you are also welcome to post thoughts and questions in this forum thread.

Although we’d love to pay for any video, these standards are important to ensure that we can continue to make upfront payments and not need to rely solely on pay per play or other ‘performance based’ compensation. Why must the product be available for ‘new’ sale? Because we don’t really get traffic to the site from people looking for used products (mostly this traffic goes directly to eBay or CraigsList) and because there are relatively few advertisers for out of date products. Why can’t I say where I bought the product? Isn’t that helpful to viewers? Initially, that information is helpful. However, retailers have constantly changing inventory and pricing. Since we can’t update your video to reflect those changes, it limits the review’s usefulness to viewers, advertisers and partners.

On a related note, hopefully you've been seeing all of the special "first to review" promotions we're running this summer. These are an exciting way to earn $20 per video for hundreds of products where we don't have any videos yet. More special promotions are coming, so check back often to see which of these products you own & can review!

Thanks,
Sarah

Hey everyone.....I just realized that my stroller review made the front page!!! It's my first time, and I'm a little excited!

I just got back from vacation and am a little ticked. I LOVE books so I did a lot of books for reviews so instead of getting $250.00 like I thought I got $182! Not even close! I wish they would just shut the category down! Not fair that mine were done the first week and that the others put in videos after they were warned the category was bloated! SO FRUSTRATING!

I was already not motivated then the payments sent out and now I'm really not motivated! I know I need to do some though but I'm going to steer clear of the bloated categories of last month and of course any announced this month. I may do some and then wait until the last couple of days to upload because I don't think they'll announce bloated categories the last couple of days. Of course, I'm sure they'll prove me wrong!

Anyway, I too had mine uploaded before the announcement of bloated categories and it really upset me that they just didn't close the categories.

Expo TV experts, I need your help. I have been lurking here on this thread for a couple of months here and there and really want to start doing this but how in the world do you decide what to do a review on??? I'm sure that most things have been reviewed time and time again right? I really want to try to do one of these. My DH and DD are going to be away for a little bit this coming weekend and it would be the perfect time for me to try this, but I don't know where to begin. Anyone that could help me and give me some advice? We really need the extra money!
