Another way to get 5% off gift cards!

Hi all - I found another easy way to get 5% off Disney gift cards/purchases besides using a Target card! I was going to just use my RedCard but my store only has cards with denominations of $50 and I didn't want to have to buy 5 of them and keep track of 5 separate cards.

I have a Capital One card that gives me 2% back on purchases to be used as travel rewards...I can pay myself back for travel I've already booked. I have the Capital One Venture Rewards and I think there is a "lower model" that gives only 1% back - so I guess this trick depends on what card you have. But anyway, I get an additional 3 points per dollar for accessing the Disney Store through their portal. So 5 points per dollar x $250 gift card purchase = 1250 points, which can be redeemed for $12.50 worth of travel.

This also works with any purchase from the Disney store, at least for the card I have.

Just something to think of if you also have a rewards card!

I mentioned this in another thread but I'll put it here too. If you have a Chase Freedom card, right now you get 5% cash back on all grocery store purchases. If your grocery store sells Disney cards (most around here do) then you can combine that 5% back with any additional promos the store itself has on gift cards. Most of our grocery stores have fuel rewards for gift card purchases.

Safeway also is having a promo right now also in addition to the 4x fuel rewards. If you spend $50 on gift cards, you get $10 loaded on your Safeway Club Card for your next purchase. I have not been in yet so I am not sure if you could spend that $10 on another gift card purchase or not. If you can, that would be amazing! Get another $10, rinse and repeat

That is a great idea! I tried that at King Soopers where I got $25 for transferring a prescription. I tried to get Disney GC's but it wouldn't let me. The manager told me it is specific to grocery purchases only. It all worked out though. I took the money I would've used for groceries and put it in the "Disney jar" and used the GC. All in all..at the end of the day with a little creativity..the $ did go to our vacation fund

Just wanted to update this regarding the promo at Safeway I posted about earlier. It does not work on Disney cards. There are only 12 gift cards included in the promo

Exactly I did still get the promo on a Lowe's card. Father's Day is right around the corner so now that is done
