Another waiting for Southwest thread!

Well another day, another wait by the computer. Did anyone happen to notice that sw changed the web page again, they have a special for 59 on way thru june 19th? They are teasing us. :wave2:

I noticed that I could book $59 from MHT, but only through June 15th. :)

I doubt you'll do better than that with SW BUT SW gives you a full credit if you need to change your flight. If you can get the flights/times you want for $54 I'd book it.

Pixiedust, I see that you are from Maryland. I have always been under the impression that I can't do better than AirTran for flying from any of the Balto/Wash airports to Orlando. I've been getting $54. each way (occasionally $49., but not lately). With their members program, I get a free round trip ticket anywhere they fly for every four round trips I fly with them.

Could I do better with Southwest? And if so, please help me to get a grip on the way that you are tracking these fares. TIA! :goodvibes

Thanks for your imput, Lewis. The rewards program is for a free one way ticket after four round trips (my typo), but it's still a good deal if you use the free voucher for a cross country flight. That's how I was able to go to DL last year.

I didn't know that you could change flights with Southwest, though. That's good to know. AirTran charges $50. to make a change (on a $54. ticket, lol!), so it's basically 'no changes allowed'!

Deba,

Thanks for the info. That's a great AirTran rate you're able to get!

I think I'm going to stick w/SW for now. They have the most direct flights from BWI, and I like knowing that they are easy to reschedule if something unforseen might occur. I just wish that they would update their schedule. Soon.

Airtran is my back-up plan in case I need a back-up plan.
Like, if SW never updates the schedule..........

I also find SWA much more reliable out of BWI than AirTran -- but other people have had better experiences with AirTran than I have! They are always late/delayed when I fly (maybe it's me...) but I almost never have trouble on SWA. And the best I can do right now on AirTran for 9/30-10/3 is $180 R/T -- I'll take my chances until SWA releases its schedule...

Well SW just lost 7 fares for October. We didn't want to wait any longer and booked Jetblue for $89 each way. Too bad for them

just got an email from SW that says "Travel May 9, 2006 through end of schedule."....I read on Flyertalk that is an indicator that the schedule will release very soon....maybe tomorrow!!

I have been having bad dreams about airports and getting SW tickets for the last two nights :guilty: Come on already....I need to get a good night's sleep!

That sounds positive! Thanks for posting!

I'm too excited to sleep!! I have been having airport dreams too! Last night I was up for an hour and a half before I could get back to sleep!

SW just lost another 4 return trips from Buffalo for August. If they keep holding back the schedule like this, I will never fly SW

Ya know that $89 looks good on Jet blue..I think I am going to just go with that...I want to get my plans finalized...

The SW wait is nothing new. SW has always posted their schedules about 5 months out from the flights. I have been taking SW for years and I know if I want to schedule a flight, I know I can't do so until about 5 months before the trip. I am a planner, don't get me wrong, but I appreciate the close proximity to my home and SW basically has decent fares, so I will always deal with the wait.

I'm sticking with SW. I live a few miles from MacArthur and I totally enjoy the close proximity, especially upon returning late from MCO. If we took the late flight from MCO into one of the city airports, we wouldn't get home until after midnight and I usually draw our vacations out so that when we return, the next day we get right back to our regular work & school schedules.

I grew up in the city and since I've moved out here I can't stand that long drive into LGA or Kennedy. I like coming home from work, getting last minute things done and driving ten minutes to the airport. I'll wait and wait and wait and wait as long as I don't have to drive :teeth:

No kidding! If I could get $89 each way for August I would be jumping on it, and not waiting for SW. Unfortunately, that is not the case--I am looking at $297 RT! :sad2:
