Another waiting for Southwest thread!

Ok...I needed 9/30 and 10/7. I'm so disappointed and ticked about SW...this is ridiculous how long they are waiting. I think they are about to lose another customer.

Do they not realize that waiting so long is hurting them????

Personally I don't think it hurts them all that much and it is good buisness sense.
With gas prices the way they are I'm sure avjet fuel is more then $6 per gallon. SW has had this same business model since they started and it has made them a profitable airline. My guess they will continue to be profitable.

Just think of all those Delta people who keep complaining that there flights are changes 3 and 4 times and some are never notified. Every airline has it's negative but waiting on release dates are not that big of negative for me.

Uggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!! I need 9/19 going to Orlando and 9/26 coming back to Buffalo. I just priced roundtrip within the time frame released and four the 4 of us it would be 1054 roundtrip- ouch!!!!!!!! I think I will book through someone. I can JetBlue one way for 89 dollars.

How did I miss the release!!! For weeks I have been sitting here waiting and waitng. I didn't expect it today so off I went to catch up on laundry etc. Sat down to check my email and saw that they opened!!!!!

I booked...but I'm not thrilled with the prices available. They are cheaper than the alternatives, but not by much. It cost $523 for 2 adults 8/30 - 9/3 out of PVD. Oh well ~ now I can sit here and wait for a Ding! or systemwide sale and rebook

By my calculations, they waited 55 days (2/23-4/19) but only released another 40 days (8/3-9/12)! Not fair!

My fares were as they have been without a system fare - from/to BWI - 177 each person (708 total). Since I wanted specific time and date, I went ahead and booked. I will use credit for future purchase if they ding or sale them.

Part of my trip is open, but the other half (coming back from MCO) is not because it is after September 12th. The fares that I would need and my mom from Las Vegas would need are still way too high....even for September. If I have to wait for the rest of September to open up anyways, I might as well wait to see if the fare drops. But I am NOT happy about that. I am going to start checking other airlines.

But now I'm playing The Waiting Game again because I still need to book our flights home. I wish I could have booked both flights today.

Does anyone want to make a guess as to when the next schedule bump will happen???

We should all make guesses, mine is April 19 with an end date of October 5th.

Well I got the April 19th part right, totally didn't see the extension only being one month later though. I think they'll extend again around May 25. Anyways, I got kind of pitiful fares $261 per person, MHT to MCO, it is lower than the other airlines, but I had hoped for better.

Wow, I can get $99 going to MCO but only $143 going back to NY..That's too high... I guess I am not booking now..

I also got $261. Not what I wanted to pay but its booked . About the same as other airlines, but I got nonstop and thats what I wanted and why I waited for Southwest. Now a Ding would be nice.

I finally purchased our air travel!-- I couldn't wait any longer. We are travelling with mother & sister-in-law so driving is out of the question.

Yes, it's more than I expected too but with the increasing price of fuel...probably not going to be less $.

Last year they opened the dates through Sept 12, I needed Sept 15. Guess when the next bump was? JULY! It was horrible. So that is my guess. Good luck with your flights.

Don't worry. Mine is just the opposite. $143 to fly down to MCO, $99 to fly back to NY. Ugh! So I had to choose an earlier flight. DBF is booking the flights now. Looks like the day we leave, I'm going to have to run from work to the airport 45 min away, praying that I don't hit traffic. No thanks to SW.

Our fares are not released yet but I priced out a similar trip in Sept. Why is it $56/per person cheaper to fly from BWI than PHL? The prices out of BWI are what we have always seen in the past from PHL. I can understand price increases b/c of fuel costs but why is PHL higher than normal and not BWI. And does fuel cost really justify this large increase? The SW fare matches USAir's current fare exactly to the penny. Two weeks ago I could have gotten USAir for $180 round trip but decided to wait for SW b/c I prefer flying them. Now it looks like SW is going to cost us $233. This is the second time I have been burned by waiting for SW. From now on I will just book USAir when it becomes available.

I hope we both get lucky for Dings, we're going 8/19-8/27, SW is very stingy with Saturday dings MHT-MCO, I've been tracking them for the last month and a half. I've only seen four MHT-MCO dings come through and all have been for Tuesdays or Wednesdays. UGGGHHH!!!!!

There are a lot of people going to Disney for free dining who are waiting for dates beyond 9/12. I hope that SW doesn't take too long to update its schedule. I was surprised to see that they updated it only until 9/12. I was naively assuming that all of Sept. would be available at once.

Don't worry, it won't be that long, they've been releasing dates when the current schedule has around 106 days left, that would be May 29th, I think they'll release them a little earlier around 110 days, May 25th. JMHO
