Another waiting for Southwest thread!

Just trying to figure out a pattern to the madness, going back to May of last year, it went Thursday, Friday, Thursday, Monday, Thursday, Tuesday, Thursday, to continue the pattern how about tomorrow - Wednesday. :thumbsup2 Ok, I know, I'm grasping again. :rotfl:

I'm here will all you guys also! Mid-Sept for me!

Please hurry up SW! I need to get on with my life! I have a meeting daily at 11 am at work that I have been late for, for the past couple of weeks. I keep stalling. This morning everyone showed up at my office for the meeting! Oops! (They don't know why I keep showing up late.)
Come on - Aug 26 - Sep 3!

I talked to sombody on the phone from SW and they said by the 15th!!! Its after 11am now so I am leaning towards Thursday. I wish it was today Its so hard for me to be ar my comp on Thursday mornings !!

The 15th is Saturday, right? So if the SWA person wasn't just making up a date (unfortunately that's a possibility....), it will probably be by this Thursday or Friday, since for the last three years, extensions haven't happened on weekends. :surfweb:

Just wondering.... does sw always open up in the am or can it be anytime of day? has anyone the stats on that?

according to the people on flyertalk.com, it is usually around 10 am central time

I was looking at June & July's flights to get an idea of what fare will be released. Seems like $99 is the rate now..Anyone know if that is a good fare from NYC? Or would it go lower than that? My DH wants figures!!!!

I hate the waiting game! :surfweb:

What's the best thing to do if the next set of release dates only go partway into your dates? i.e., I need 9/30-10/3...what if they only release to 10/2? Should I book 9/30 as one-ways and wait for the 10/3 flights? Or should I wait until 10/3 is released and then book the whole thing as a RT?

I also thought that maybe part of the delay is due to whatever specials they're working out for the new flights from Dulles.

Thanks! Jackie

From what I have heard, you should always book 2 one-way trips. So, if the schedule only opens for the first leg of your trip, you can book that. Then when it opens the rest of the way you can book the return flight. I think it works out better if you can book a lower fare to have it booked separately.
I know someone who booked a $39 fare from Philly to MCO. She just booked the last day that was available. When a $39 fare came up for her return trip, she booked that.

I'm getting LOTS of errors while working on my traveler's account, so maybe they're working on the site for the launch of Sept/Oct.? :confused3

if southwest released dates today at 11am would it be ding fares or will they also be on the reservtion page?? And how quickly do the ding fares sell out???

I wouldn't expect to see Ding! fares for August/September this early. It seems the Ding! fares are only released closer to the time frame they are good for....like most Ding! fares being released now are for April/May

thanks cepmom... I just downloaded the ding at home and there is a lot of talk about being around computers when the ding goes off for august rates... i was getting nervous b/c my computer at work cant have ding on it... Dates better release soon or Worcester /Allegient here we come...

the Ding! fares are separate from the schedule extensions...so if you can hang by the computer at work this week or next (just checking the regular reservations page, not Ding!), you should be able to jump on the dates you need. They won't be Ding! fares, but if you book a fare when they release, and a Ding! comes up at a later date, you can cancel and rebook the Ding! fare ~ you can get a credit to use at another time.

So what is the better stragedy with SWA? Jump on the fares as soon as it opens or wait for DING?

for me, I am going to jump on them when they open. There is no guarantee for Ding! fares for specific dates and I have been noticing that the Dings that have been coming up have been for, say, Tuesday and Thursdays or some random days of the week. I need to fly to MCO on a Wednesday and return home on a Sunday.

I will keep my eyes open for a Ding! as they come up, hope for a better fare, and get a credit, but I won't be expecting one for my Sunday return.

Past 11 am EST..& still nothing..Maybe tomorrow! :confused3
