I have a diploma in Life Coaching which awarded me the post-nominals "DipLC".

Thing is, if you search for it in Google (Describe for me the award "DipLC"), you get a nonsensical answer. And if you search in AI, you get:

The DipLC stands for Diploma of the London College of Music. It is an entry-level diploma qualification awarded by the London College of Music Examinations (LCME), part of the University of West London.

Not very useful. If a prospective client searches for my credentials, they'll get that. Huge turn off.

Thankfully I've decided to offer Life Coaching only as an ADJUNCTIVE therapy alongside my main two professions - Hypnotherapy and Counselling. I will also offer Hypnotherapy and Counselling as mono-therapies, but not Life Coaching. Just don't feel it as much.

I’m considering whether or not to rewind and ONLY offer Hypnotherapy as a professional practice. Technically anyone can set up shop as a Counsellor or Life Therapist and I have the appropriate awards (both in diplomas and “practitioner” diplomas) but I don’t have the advised hours of live practice. And I am very happy practicing hypnotherapy as a mono-therapy. Perhaps I could practice counselling and/or life coaching on the side to complement hypnotherapy? But I am very much of the mind to just go for hypnotherapy, my bread and butter.

I already practice hypnothreapy.

I was intending to set up shop as a Counsellor and Life Coach.

Thoughts?

[ETA] Talked it over with family and friends. Stick to what you're good at. Don't overcomplicate things. I’ll just focus on Hypnotherapy. Will update my site tonight/tomorrow. I can always evoke counselling in my sessions as an aid. But not as stand-alone mono-therapy. And Life Coaching can go hang - besides, I know many people here consider Life Coaching to be snake oil!

Respectfully, I've seen many MANY of your posts regarding your certifications & training & education. Well done you! But - do you actively practice? Or do you ever plan to actively practice in the near future? What is the end game and do you have a goal as to when & where? Why worry about people here think about your educational path & your career? I should think that those in your location ...as in the general public in the area which you are practicing might be in need of/would like to take advantage of would be better to concentrate on. I ask because, well some of your posts aren't representative of someone who is actively practicing and /or planning on actively practicing in the arena you propose to have earned so many certificates. If your goal is to educate yourself, that's great! But if your goal is to collect educational 'certificates' just because - well then why the pretense of opening a practice? Perhaps if you are stuck a consultation with another professional - be it Life Coach/ Therapist/Psychotherapist may be helpful in guiding you on a more productive path.

I'm in a field (non medical or clinical) where we consult with other professionals in our field and it's very helpful. Just my opinion.

Good luck to you.

Yeah, I do prattle on. I guess you could call the DIS a form of a sounding board. Any response is good. Even when it is a stark reminder to just shut up sometimes! I promise to lay off the career rubbish :)
