Another surprise trip cause mamma ruined it-NOW THE ULTIMATE FANTASY DISNEY VACATION

Mom, you are so funny.
For pics see this post
I am sorry that I haven't posted any updates to our Disney trip but that is because there is nothing to update. Still waiting on those darn park hours (just 10 more days).

In the meanwhile don’t tell my husband but I am planning a little weekend getaway to the ATL for our anniversary in May. We stayed at this boutique hotel in downtown called the Glen Hotel on our wedding night. It was incredible! The downstairs restaurant had beds instead of tables for you to sit...err.. lie on while they served your food. So you in fact had dinner served to you in bed!!!

I was however disappointed though when I read on their website how that restaurant was closed and they no longer offer in bed dining. :sad2:

Anyhow. Zeta has been asking since our first Disney trip for us to take a segwey tour together. Our first trip was very cheap and we just didn't have the extra dough. Our second trip we had the money but didn't want to leave all 6 kids with my mom so we didn't do it then either. Looks like we won’t be able to do it this trip either because of no babysitter. So I did a little researching and discovered that downtown Atlanta has a segwey tour right outside the Glen Hotel where I wanted to take him anyway!

He doesn't know anything about it and I am taking a chance that he isn't reading this. So if he asks don't tell him. :rolleyes1

Let's call this my surprise trip within a surprise pre-trip report.

Next... So Walt Disneyworld calls my boss this morning...

Yay segway tour! Although, I'm accident prone, and am insanely afraid of falling off and breaking something. So, I just watch them go by, instead! :lmao:

I think we all need to plan a petition to Disney about those darn park hours. :headache: It's so frustrating not to be able to plan!!!

Ooh, your trip to Atlanta sounds fun! Too bad the bed dining is not longer available. That sounds like it'd be interesting. The segway tour sounds even more fun!! Good luck w/ the surprise. :goodvibes

Hey, sorry it tookm so long to get back here, but I looked as close as I could at the crowd photo, and guess what, you just might be right. I think that is me there in that crowd. You know, the one with the totally confused look:confused: on her face.

:lmao: That is too funny!!

It sure got windy here yesterday afternoon, and the rain was pouring so hard you could hardly see 25 feet in front of your face. The school buses didn't get to run until almost 5:00. Every time the bus was loaded, the storm siren would go off again:scared:, they would have to unload, go into the gym where the safe room is, and wait until the all clear signal again :rolleyes1. My office is about half a mile from one of the sirens, and every time it would go off, my poor Missy pluto: would do a low-pitched moan, because she knows she can't make a lot of noise here. My niece was walking the floor waiting for the school bus to run and bring her 3 kids to her.
I guess it is just as well that meals are no longer served in bed at that place, because that is something I don't think I would like to do. It reminds me of being in a hospital. You know, crumbs get all over the sheets, you keep sliding down to the end of the bed at the foot, then you spill your drink, and your sheets are wet. EEEYEWW.......Hey ! Where the kids are concerned, if they went on the first or third week-end, then Chi princess:, and Omicron:happytv: would be with their Dad, and Alpha :pirate: and :charac4: would be with their Mom, and that would only leave Baby Tau:angel: to take care of, and either me or Mimi could do that.......Hey, baby girl:laundy: I got it all figured out for you and your DH :artist: to go to ATL for your anniversary. Ain't I just so smart:idea: ! OOOoooo, that gave me a bodacious headache, all that thinking. I gotta go now. Bye:wave:

So that's what you call it..;)
;)

Yea, I am a little nervous too. But always looking for new adventures that you don't have to be in shape to do.

Debra, did you guys get through the storms last night okay?
Yes. We had to evacuate at work to our safe place because we were under a tornado warning. The radar showed it right on top of us. Then when I got home the baby and Chi were scared while Omicron was mad that I wouldn't let him go outside because he wanted to see what hail looked like. It was hailing so bad I seriously thought that we were going to have a broke window or two.

Our church lost power and had some trees down around it so it was cancelled. and Zeta saw a funnel cloud on his way home.

But alas it was over and we were unharmed as well as our property.

Looks like it left alabama and headed straight to you. Hope you were ok?

I'll be the first to sign the petition! Though if you subscribe to allears newsletter I am sure you saw their response to their customers about the new park hours policy? Oh well I will copy it anyway.

"To All of Our Valued Guests: We are aware of your concerns regarding park hours, calendars, operational updates and parade and event hours. Please know we understand your concerns and have been working diligently to resolve resolve these issues. In the meantime, we ask for your patience and understanding as we work to bring you new information and new features on Disneyworld.com.
In regards to the concern regarding the number of days out we display park hours on the Web site, there has been a change in Walt Disney World policy. The standard calendar will now display information for the current month plus the next three months on a rolling basis. As an example – On February 1 park hours will display for the month of February, plus the months of March, April, and May. On March 1 park hours will display for the month of March, plus April, May, and June, and so on. This update cycle will be the standard throughout the year."

Oh, how scary!!! We had one scare when there was a storm in our county with rotation so we went under a tornado warning and the sirens went off. After that, the rest of the storms headed north or south of us -- thank goodness. I hate tornado weather!

I'm glad your family stayed safe during the storm!!!:goodvibes
Your Atlanta trip sounds awesome!!

Uuuummm.......What is a .......segway tour ???????:confused3

So WDW Engineering calls my boss this morning – they want to start sending us more business. What is it that I do again? Oh I am so glad you asked.

When I want to impress people I tell them I am an engineer for an FAA repair station. What this means is that we repair worn or damaged aircraft parts. My job specifically entails doing structural analysis on aircraft parts to determine if it would be airworthy if repaired. After I have impressed everyone I would then tell them that basically it is a chrome plate and machine shop. Our shop is unique in that first of all we still do hexevalent chrome plating. Most places have banned it because it is a carcinogen (you remember Erin Brochovich?) and very dangerous if not done correctly. We are a one-stop shop meaning we can do most processes in-house instead of sending it to one place for the plating, another for testing, and another for grinding. Also, we are cheap. That’s right we are the wal-mart of plating facilities.

WDW has sent us a few parts in the past. Most recently was a piston from the Primevil Whirl ride in Animal Kingdom. We also have received a shoulder from a dinosaur from the same named ride. All in all a total of 34 parts have been sent to us for repair in the last 6 years. Because of the economy the airlines are hurting therefore we have seen a drastic decrease in business. But my wonderful boss has been working very hard trying to scrounge up new business (non-FAA related). He picked up some military applications and now it looks as if he may have picked up on some WDW business.

I hope he comes in today because I want to remind him that we are going in June and that I would be happy to make a sales call for him!!!

Coming up... How the surprise was spoiled this weekend

well, it wasn't completely spoiled. i will try to update tonight while we watch the pres address.

I'm getting almost excited about our anniversary trip as I am our Disney trip. Here are some photos of our first stay at the Glenn Hotel in 2007.

Here is the restaurant I was telling you about. This is the bed inside the dining room where we ate.

Here is the peek-a-boo shower. It is basically a window between the shower and the bedroom. The tv swivels so that you can watch TV from the window in the shower!! I think DH took 5 showers the first day.

Cheryl and her family came over Sunday afternoon for lunch along with another family and my niece. There were a total of 6 adults and 12 kids. After dessert, as everyone was leaving, Cheryl and I were talking about Wendy's (that is our codeword when we mention it in front of the kids. It's kinda funny because my friend's son the other day said "Mom, why can't we go to Wendy's this summer - we like hamburgers too!). Anyway, we decided to have lunch together next week to finalize our dining plans and the Grand 1 yacht so that she can make ressies on March 5th. Ah, a Sunday lunch without kids :cloud9:

After they left, I saw my niece sitting at the bottom of the stairs. She asked when we were going to Disneyworld. I said not for at least two years because we had to pay some bills first. She then said that she heard us talking and knows we are going this summer. I said no, we were talking about something else and I shooed her outside to play.

Later that night Chi and I were taking my niece home. On our way back to our home, Chi just started talking Disney. She wanted to play the Disney alphabet game. She was asking what my favorite rides were and wanted to know which rides were currently undergoing refurbishments. I asked her why she had the Disney bug all of a sudden and she just sighed and said no reason, she just missed it and wanted to go back.

Then on Monday night as we were sitting at dinner, Alpha asked where we were going on vacation this summer. I said Silver Lakes resort. Chi popped her head at me and just said "Mom!" I Ignored her. Alpha wanted to know where Silver Lakes was and I said "Oh, not too far" Alpha said he wanted to go to Disney and I reminded them that we couldn't go for at least two years because we had to save money. Chi was just staring at me, rolling her eyes and shaking her head. Meanwhile the boys were asking what all was at silver lakes. I said they had a pool and a mini movie theater and that was all and that I hoped they wouldn't be too disappointed. By now Chi had folder her arms and just staring at me in disbelief. I finally asked what her problem was and she just said "Mom, I know where we are going" Oh and she had this look on her face like the look a teenager gives you when you say Santa is coming and they know that santa isn't coming and they want you to know that they know.

So I am pretty sure that my dear niece told her what she heard. She knows and she is mad that I have kept it a secret from her. We are very close and I have tried to emphasize to her how we don't keep secrets from each other. And now I am afraid that to her I have broken that 'rule'. I am hoping that she will forget about it or that I can still convince her otherwise. I just don't want to cross the line where she thinks I lied to her.

Oh no!!! I can't believe that your niece told her! :headache: When you do sit down with her, just explain that sometimes, when it is a good surprise, it's okay to keep it a secret.
