another question about the pillowcases

I definitely want to do the pillowcase thing when we go on the Wonder. I've read here that some people purchase Disney pillowcases at Target or Kmart.

I was in Target the other day and saw some of their pillowcases - they had the Princesses and Buzz Lightyear.

Are these the kind of pillowcases that everyone has had signed? I was expecting something more low-key and plain, rather than 3 huge princesses all over the pillowcase.

Plain pillowcases are too plain though; I suppose I'm just looking for something very simple. I haven't been to Kmart yet - should I bother?

Another idea is to wait until we are on board and buy My First Disney Cruise T-shirt for our daughter. But I still like the pillowcase idea.

DD is only 19 months, so she isn't THAT into the princesses or buzz lightyear yet. I just wanted to go with something she could always have and like.

Any ideas?

I just had a canvas tote signed and nothing was said other than sure! I think they will sign anything within reason! We did the plain pillowcases at WDW once and they are very cute! Have fun!!!

I am thinking about having them sign a big photo Matt.... Then a great picture from the cruise goes inside!

Anyone done that? Did it work out well.

If I know that I have like a great shot of DS with one certain Character... like Pluto... I would like to have just Pluto sign a Matt!!! Figure it would be hard to get the photos to then have the actual photo signed, especially on a short 4day cruise. So this would do the trick!

The ones I bought at Kmart are solid colors with Disney Piping on the edge of the pillow case (D's and Mickey's). They had blue, red, and orange and you could purchase them by themselves. Hope you find them!

dd and 3 year old ds towels (not prepared enough before we left to do it so we bought them at Epcot in the Mousewerks store) but we bought ds a buzz towel and dd a princess towel. My middle son we bought a baseball hat. Then all the characters signed them and the 2 kids with the towels absolutely LOVE drying off with their towels and since we used Sharpie's they havent ran or anything wash after wash after wash!! It is neat to see them running around with a towel. It was worth the extra $$$ to us just so they can use them and they were definitely the talk of the ship when I picked them up!

The pillowcases are among my grands favorite souvenirs that they sleep with nightly! With 7 grands we had some pillowcases of each kind! Princess', Mickey, Pooh and solid color w/Dis piping. They all turned out really cute!! We also had some cute Disney pictures (out of frames) autographed for gifts.

I think for DD I'm going to go check out Kmart tomorrow. The solid color pillowcases w/ Disney piping sounds perfect. She doesn't even use a pillow yet, but I think it is a nice souvenir. I might still do the Tshirt for her.

And since I'm not sure when we'll be cruising Disney again, maybe I should get some beach towels or a tote bag done for DH and I. He thinks it's silly, but I think it's a great (and unique) idea!

OK, I stopped at Kmart this morning, and found the plain disney pillowcases in lavender, orange, and red. They happened to be on sale for $3.99 each!

I'm just going to try another Kmart to see if they have any in the blue or turquoise color.

For those who used the darker colors (red, blue) - how did the autographs turn out? Is it easy to see them?

Also, did you request them to write "Sweet Dreams [insert child's name]" or something to that effect to make it personalized? Or did you just have the characters sign it?

We put each pillowcase in an plastic zip lock bag w/the child's name on it w/cabin #. They personalized them: To 'whomever'
We had assorted color pcases ~ red, blue, turquoise, purple, wht.
The autograph's all done in black, showed up great on every color! Good luck...your DD will grow to love it! I love mine!

Thanks, 4Nana. Just to clarify: you had white pillowcases with the Disney piping? I didn't see white, but the Kmart I went to didn't seem well-stocked.

The white ones had the 5 or 6 princess' scattered in small hearts, on a tiny rose & vine pattern. I had a very difficult time finding Disney pcases in any of our local stores, so luckily I found asst. new ones for sale on Ebay. The princess ones were $8.00 for two, which worked out great for our 2 gdaughters. This pattern did not take away from the autographs at all!!
