Another one bites the dust...Disney Store in Glen Allen, VA--

Is it much left at the Glen Allen store? Trying to decide if it's worth a trip from Midlothian (with gas and all that). Is the store at Va Center Commons, not too familiar with the mall?

Just wanted to say "Hi Sue Ellen!"

Pam in Spotsylvania :)

Hi Pam! I'm sorry to hear that you all are closing as well. :( I am so sad that they are closing so many stores, and especially because the Central VA area is going to be completely without a store now.

It is sad that Central VA won't have any stores. Sometimes I go up to Chantilly to have lunch with DH and there's a store at Tyson's and also at Dulles Town Center. Still a long way, but I wouldn't make a special trip.

Yes, this is the store at VCC. The Valley View Mall store in Roanoke is staying open, though.

Are there any stores going to be left in Pennsylvania at all?? Every single store, that I'm aware of, within a three hours of me will be closing. :sad2:

The Madison, WI one closed over a year ago. I miss it :sad2:

Fortunately, I still have one about forty-five minutes away.

Yes, but Roanoke is at least 3 1/2 to 4 hours from the Richmond area.
The stores that will be left in VA are at the extremes of the state--Northern VA (DC area), VA Beach (eastern coast) and Roanoke area (Western VA) Then there is the outlet at Potomac Mills (again, Northern VA, near DC.)

It really stinks for the rest of the state.

Oxford Valley Mall in Langhorne, PA and King of Prussia Mall were not on the list. There was also a an outlet rumored at the new "Philiadelphia" Putlets in Limerick. The ladies at Willow Grove strongly suggested calling the number that I provided in my previous post.

Though the Harrisburg Mall and the Capitol City Mall stores are closing, the one at the Hershey Outlets will remain open. The store at Park City Mall is closing in Lancaster, but the new store at the Outlets is remaining open. The sale is currently at 20%-40% off- Disney Visa card holders can use the additional 15% off coupon from the recent newsletter.

The store @ Chesapeake Square Mall in Portsmouth, VA is closing, too. Only one left in this area is in Virginia Beach @ Lynnhaven Mall. What a shame, as this was our least favorite store........

Chesapeake Square mall is in Chesapeake VA, not Portsmouth.

It really stinks they are closing this one down. It is less thna a 5 minute drive from my house.

Lynhaven's store has been around for a looooong time. It was the first one in VA I believe.

Well, Potomac Mills is about an hour and 1/2 away from Richmond, so there's that option. I'm in the middle of the valley, so I have a drive no matter what.

Calling and complaining won't really help. The stores that were closed were not bought by Disney and it's really to late to change that. The bankruptcy court approved the deal....

As for me, it's not a great loss. I can't tell you where a Disney store is near me....The last few times I actually wandered in one I was like "why"? and wandered right back out. Can't recall the last time I actually SPENT any money at the stores.... Not all Disney fans are under 8!!! Not all Disney fans want to dress like a teenager!

I can vouch that they are closing "sometime in the next few weeks". I called on Saturday to verify. I might go tomorrow and see what good deals I can find.

There is a Disney Outlet Store at Discover Mills in Lawrenceville, GA. I bought some great stuff for our upcoming trip in June. Gold Princess Purses regularly $10.50; on sale for $1 each. Individually wrapped bath-mitts regularly $2.50; on sale for 50-cents each.

I am going to wrap each gift individually and give one/day to my dd on our trip. CHEAP WDW souvenirs!

the holyoke mall is definitely closing. was there a couple of weeks ago and they were at 20-40% off already. i hardly went in the store when i was at the mall, but i was looking forward to a change when disney took over again. :worried:

There IS too much of a good thing. I often wondered why there were soo many Disney Stores and places that sold Yankee Candles (the only two that come to mind right now). Why go to the Yankee Candle store if you can get them at Hallmark in the mall or at Linens & Things? Although with Disney you can go to the theme parks, but why buy the merchandise if you can get it at the store? IMO, when there's too much of a good thing people tend to get tired of it and stop buying. I have to confess that I am one of those people. I'd rather buy at WDW, BUT I'd go into the store often because DD wanted to. Once in awhile I'd buy something. It is sad that some stores are closing, including mine, but I can understand why.

I love the Cast at Willow Grove!!!! I work at a different store, but I always love going in there and visiting with my fellow CMs. I'm going to really miss all of them when the store closes. :(

Last day for the Harrisburg area stores is June 7. They shipped all big ticket items out of the store to Connecticut. Items that are left are at 30-50% off. They still accept the 15% off for Visa Cardholders who have the coupon.
