Another Newbie here, and a question!

Hi everyone! I've been reading this board for about a week, and I thought it was time to post and get to know everyone!

I have been to WDW once before, many years ago. My husband (it's his first trip!) and I are planning a trip with our two little girls for the end of 2008 or spring 2009. I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later, but my husband is afraid they will be too young to enjoy it in 2008. In October/November 2008 they will be 3 and almost 2. Has anyone here brought their kids that young and still had a great time? I know there's a lot we can do....just not the big thrill rides.

Also, I'd love to hear from anyone who has been to WDW in late October/early November. How is the weather, crowds, etc. during that timeframe?

As for taking little ones, if you look around the Theme Parks and Disney for Familes boards you will find many discussions on this topic.

Personally, the first time we went we had a 3YO and a 4 month old. We went back when they were 4 and 20 months, then again when they were 6 and 3. We had a wonderful time each time, though we needed to use different strategies at different ages.

Hi Jennifer. Welcome to the Dis!!! I think the age you take your children for their first trip is up to you and depends alot on the children. We are taking grandson, age 2, for his first trip when he turns 3. However, I think he would enjoy it now at 2 very much.

In October/early November, the weather is usually very nice but you do have the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot which brings in the crowds there. If you haven't been in awhile, you are going to find that attendance, even during slower times, is a lot higher than it used to be. That doesn't mean that a vacation there has to be any more stress or any less enjoyment.

Hang around on here and you will get plenty of information and advice from a lot of helpful people.

That's a great time to go weather-wise and for the most part, crowd-wise! The advantage to taking a 2-year-old is that it's free. There are plenty of things for pre-schoolers to enjoy and, even though they probably won't remember the trip, YOU will always remember the looks of wonder on their faces!

Any trip to WDW can be enjoyable for any age. There truly is something for all age levels. The thing to remember, is that you will enjoy different things at different ages.

We are going in March 2008. This will be the first time for my DH and our boys as well. They will be 5 and 2 1/2. I am super excited for them to go. I think the younger they are the more magical it is in their eyes. Like someone else said, there is different things to do for different ages.

I took my boys to Disneyland in CA when my son was 3 1/2 and the baby was 10 mths. Even then, we had a blast and both kids enjoyed it!! There were plenty of rides that we could all go on together.

, I have been there at those times and the weather has been great!!! Crowds are pretty good too. Our first trip, was when my DD had just turned 4, it was great! Just be prepared, to be smiling the whole time. Watching the look on your kids faces and there amazement, is just wonderful. I always remind those going w/younger ones about the baby stations at all the parks. They are great, you can get them out of the heat, change them, they have high chairs if you want to feed them. So keep those in mind!

Welcome to the DIS boards!

My family and I went to WDW last November (Nov. 6-10). It was the last week of the Food and Wine festival @ Epcot and it was also Jersey Week (if you don't know what Jersey Week is, let me know). There were quite a few people in the parks, but the lines for many of the rides were relatively short. The weather was great! The highs were in the mid-high 70s for our entire stay. It got pretty cold in the mornings and evenings, though. Many of the Christmas decorations were up, too! (We even got to see the construction of the gigantic gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian resort!) If you have any more specific questions, feel free to ask. Happy trip planning!

first time we went my kids were 2, 3 and 5......2 in strollers and diapers!
It was such a memorable vacation and I would do it again! The faces on the little ones is magical--you will never forget it even if the youngest ones will!
My at-the-time 5 year old remembers some of that trip (she is now 11) but the younger 2 do not.......and that is okay.....my husband and I remember!

The weather is fantastic that time of year! during the day, it is usually warm enough to swim. We went the first week of November once and wore shorts the whole week. We did slip on a sweater/jacket 2 or 3 nights after the sun went down but still all had shorts on. As far as crowds went, the average wait time was minimal and the only "crowded area" was in Epcot but that wasnt even that bad--do epcot during the week because the weekend will draw locals in for the food/wine festival--NOT TO BE MISSED!!!!!!! That was my favorite thing to do there........eat and drink my way "around the world!"

Go! Go! Go! You will all love it and enjoy!!!!!!!!!

When my kids where 18 months and 3 1/2 we lived in Florida and bought a Florida Resident pass for one year. We used it 5 times for multiple days each time. The kids had a GREAT time. My youngest loved the characters - especially Pluto who he tackled to the ground a few times! The only problems I remember where that my youngest was afraid of fireworks and didn't like loud noises. I'm sure there are other posting with lists of rides/ shows that you would want to avoid. Good luck!

I started taking my DD when she was 3 years old. We had a fabulous time! Precious memories! Priceless! Just take lots of pictures for her to look at later. She and you will treasure them. I also video taped her playing in the water foundations that are in some of the parks and DTD, playing while waiting for the parade, etc. Those spontaneous things are my most favorite videos!
