Yup, there's another new Express pass coming to town. This one is a bit different than the rest. It will become available starting on 7/16. This new Express pass is called the Bonus Plus Express. Currently, the price is TBD, but here's the stats on the card:

-Valid at both USF and IOA
-Valid for five (5) consecutive days
-Valid at all attractions that honor Express
-Limited to one Express pass/use per attraction per day
-Everyone in the party must have their pass

That's all the info I have at this time.

Okay, DM...

Now that I've ordered my other passes, I read this!

Any news now that it IS 7/16? I ordered them over the phone so you'd think they would've mentioned them to me?

USF is going to water down the FOTL feature for resort guests. Soon everyone will have Express.

Fine-tuning the heck out of Express!
Next month it'll be bar code tattoos on your forehead for X dollars.

Where did you get this information from? This Express pass does not exist.

If everyone didn't know, they have cut the express that is given out free by 65% so they can sell the express plus for $25.

That's an interesting stat! What's your source?

It was acquired through various spot-talks/information papers.

Dark M, I would double-check that info. As someone who would know this information, I can assure you this 5-Day Express Bonus does not exist :)

Can you explain what you mean? Have they decreased the number of free express passes given out by 65%? I can't imagine.

If the system operates as Disney's Fastpass does by offering a small percentage of an attraction's hourly capacity to Fastpass machines, a 65% reduction in the number of passes distributed would mean that, approximately, 20% less of an attraction's hourly visitors are using Fastpass.

If, for example, 5% of an attraction's hourly capacity were distributed in each of the twelve 5-minute Fastpass windows in an hour, 60% of the visitors for that hour would have used Fastpass. A 65% reduction in the number of passes distributed would mean that only 39% of the people riding the attraction in an hour would have used Fastpass.

How would that affect wait times? That's more math than I want to think about doing. :)

Then I BOO on the idea of it.

Barry or Robin, feel free to lock this thread then...

Okay, but my concern is still, if they are reducing the # of Express passes available, then they will run out sooner and people who don't want to pay $25 may be out of luck. That stinks! But, this may all be a moot point anyway...

Yes, that'd be exactly true.

But, then, it's almost necessary if they try to keep standby queues at a reasonable length, continue offering the upcharge Express Card, and it becomes popular.

Users of the paid system, along with hotel guests, represent a variable in the system because Universal isn't aware of when they're going to visit each attraction. Thus, they're rarely operating their attractions at peak capacity and that results in longer waits for everyone. If that variable grows in its influence by growing in size, it stands to reason that the capacity achieved on their attractions per hour could become worse -- increasing standby queue times.

To combat that, they reduce the number of Express passes distributed free of charge to compensate for the larger number of purchased passes. In effect, this keeps the entire system in balance. There are two extremes, of course; the first is Disney's system that makes the pass free to everyone. The second would be a system that requires all of its users to pay for access. Disney's method is better for capacity and the overall enjoyment of all guests. Charging exclusively for the privilege of e-queuing is horrible for ride capacity and for the people who can't shell out the dough, by proxy, but it's far better for the people who can.

Yes, they have reduced the amount of tickets that are given out by 65%. For example, these may not be the correct amounts but you will get the idea, if they gave out 100 free tickets per hour now they only give out 35 tickets per hour. What they have also done is extend the time till 1/2 hour before park closing. The last ticket given out was 2 hours before park closes. This way it looks like they are giving out more but they really are not.

Is this pass available? If not could somebody please explain what passes are available to buy. Can I buy them on the day if the park looks really busy?
Thanks
Tracy
