Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

It's hard to believe that Halloween is on Thursday! We are still having lovely weather, for the most part, for this location at this time of year. It's been in the upper 50s and lower 60s most of the week. We are about a month behind in both temperature and fall colors, which were late but gorgeous this year! Some years, we've had snow by now! I can tell it's mid-semester, though, and I have piles of grading to do an DH is so busy we barely have time to talk! We (very-unplanned) took yesterday afternoon and evening off, though. We had errands to run in Bangor so stopped at Bangor Beer (really nice microbrewery) for lunch. Got home around 4pm to a message from an old, dear friend who was in town for Homecoming. Met up with him and 3 of his old fraternity brothers and Orono Brewing Company (are you catching a theme here :drinking1) and spent the rest of the evening visiting. A surprise was when we discovered DD's in-laws were at the same location! Haven't seen them since the wedding last June. One of DD's bridesmaids was there, too! Small town life, right? DH and I had all kinds of work planned for yesterday and last night, and instead we'll be cramming all that grading into today. Oh well... we had a great time, and don't regret it one little bit!

In 2 weeks we'll have been in Indianapolis for our nephew's wedding and be on our way home. Two and a half weeks after that, it'll be Thanksgiving weekend and DD and our SIL will be here! Then there's one week of labs left, one week of check-out from the labs (so I'll be done with teaching), then finals week. We leave for Orlando on 12/21; we decided that we needed a "new view" on Christmas as DD has her own home/holiday traditions now, AND we will be ready for some down time and warm weather. We are spending one day at Universal to see WWoHP, one Disney day (breakfast at Ale&Compass, day at AK w/FP I'd hoped for then over to Epcot for Holiday Kitchens, Candlelight Processional, Epcot forever) on Christmas Eve, and 3 days to relax around the pool/bar, see a dear friend in Cocoa Beach, etc. Back to NH on 12/27 for 2 nights at my annual Cousins' Christmas Reunion, then home to ME on 12/29 and into a new year. I'm pretty sure it's gonna fly by!!

And that's about it from my corner of New England!

Hi everyone and thank you Jane for keeping this thread alive here and there with many of your great dog pictures and trip pictures. :thumbsup2

As I am stuck in the house thanks to lots of Michigan rain and a lot cooler weather I just thought I'd drop by on this thread.

Still getting over the death of my cat which I'm sure many of you already know about. After 15 years.....it does take some time.

Hope everyone is ready to go into all the holiday madness and preparations. I know I'm not but I'm sure I'll get there. :santa:

......and Ronandannette........we're suppose to get snow flakes this coming week. Not ready but each day gets me closer to spring!!! :teeth:

So very sorry you are grieving so hard in the loss of your cat.

On a lighter topic. This November Dh is thinking of growing a mustache! This is by a fund raising request from a nephew, he is a Pastor and reaching out to family to join his congregation. This will be Dh's second in his life. Attached is a picture of his first. I. Do. Not. Like. Him with a Non shaven face!

This storm on 'Halloween Night' caused major damage throughout Niagara, SW Ontario, and especially Quebec once it moved East. :(

That storm on Halloween night knocked out our power for almost 24 hours! It was two years ago at this time of year that we were without power for SIX DAYS due to a windstorm, so I was trying not to freak-out. Fortunately for us, we have city water so if there is a power outage, at least we can still "flush;" many friends in the area are on wells... no power, no water. UGH. We also have good neighbors who bought a generator after the fiasco two years ago, who offered to run extension cords to our kitchen to cool down the fridge and freezer, if the outage lasted much longer than it did. There are still many trees down in the area, and lots of cut-up stuff from clearing roads, yards, and driveways. Emera says there are still some people without power but expect everyone to be back "on" on Monday. We got lucky this time!

So the nephew is asking all male members of the congregation to grow a mustache? Is this a "Movember" stunt or meant to be permanent? Pretty sure facial hair is subject to the "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" principle ;)

Great to see this thread pop up again!

Things are good here. We did have quite a storm on the night of 10/31-11/1,but it started late enough for the the trick-or-treaters to get out early. We had 28 kids all together, which is pretty normal for us lately. (We used to get a lot more - when DS was little, there were tons of kids in the neighborhood, and all their friends from busy streets came here too.)

Same here, it was a dark and blustery night. Speaking of dark, we've turned the clocks back last night. Within weeks it will be dark when we leave and dark when we get home, and that situation will last for what seems an eternity. I can handle the cold - the dark of winter is discouraging. :(

It didn't feel quite right to click "like" to say I totally agree with this! Lack of sunlight is the worst thing about winter.

It's a temporary all male thing here! Unless, the man decides to keep it!! Meant to remind men to take care, and be proactive of their health. :)

I hear you girl! :(

:cold:Brrrr...-14 (6F) today and 3" of snow overnight. Since November in Canada is similar to January in America, y'all will understand the conditions our CFL playoffs are being held in. Today is the Western Final and the game is being played here in Calgary. Our Stampeders are tilting at @kimblebee 's Winnipeg Blue Bombers. I'm not really a football person but I do LOVE a contest, so GO STAMPS GO!! :cheer2:
C'mon ALDIO'ers - who's with me? :crowded:

I've missed a lot! So glad to find this thread again. Leebee, your Christmas holiday trip sounds perfect. Jane, the puppy-with-the-tote pics are just the cutest! Your trip pics are fantastic, too. Kitty34, so, so sorry about your cat. Losing a pet is heartbreaking. We were in London over Halloween, so I'm just now hearing about the terrible storms you guys had. Glad you're all okay. We're supposed to get hit with snow and cold temps tomorrow, so heading to the barn in a few to get horse blankets out of storage. Have a nice rest of the day, everyone!

Thank you, Twilight Sparkle, for your kind words about my Pudgie. :)

Hope you had a nice time going to London.

We are under another Weather Advisory for 4-5 inches of snow. Winter is here to stay I think. Maybe spring will come early this year.......I know, wishful thinking. I'd probably be better off wishing for a big win on the slots at our local casino!! :teeth:

Micca.......hows' the beard growin' going'! Dan (Murphy) and other male ALDIO'ers are probably participating, too. We will need pics in a couple of weeks gentlemen.

Thanks, Kitty34. Our trip was not without its bumps, but we still had a nice time while there. We would love to return one day.
More info please! We'll be in London for a couple of days prior to a cruise next May and I'm very interested in how you found it. :wave2:
