Wow, where do I start?? We just got home this afternoon, after checking out this AM.

Dh & I agree that we will never stay anywhere else on Disney property. We've done 2 of the deluxe resorts previously, and found both the cast members and the guests at POFQ to be among the nicest, most helpful, and friendliest. We had one issue at the food court one day - the cm taking my order could not speak English very well & spoke very softly. Then, she got mad at ME for asking her to repeat almost everything! No big deal - if it had been, I would have taken it up with an appropriate higher-up, which I didn't.

The pool was great - the kids loved it! The poolside bar was awesome. Yesterday, a typical FL storm moved in during the afternoon. I was at the bar (same building) doing laundry when the lifeguards pulled everyone out. The lifeguards sat on the floor at the bar playing board games with the kids, and gave out prizes to the winners.

One of the prizes was a little plastic mardi gras themed plastic clapper. I asked if I could buy some from them, or where I could get them. They gave me a whole bag (12 or so) at no charge!

We stayed in room 2130. What a great room! It was right across the sidewalk from the entrance to the boat dock and a smoking area, which we requested, since we are both smokers. We always went outside to smoke and are sticklers for following the rules. We were almost always outside smoking around 11PM for the last run of the boats each evening, and the cm's driving the boats gave us big waves as they pulled out.

Our only wish was that the beds were bigger. Doubles just don't work for us, as we both like to spread out when we sleep. :lmao:

My only regret is that we never had the time to go to Riverside. We really wanted to, but time just ran out.

I became good friends with another resort guest. We're both from the same state, her kids are my kids' ages, we have so much in common. We just "clicked" as friends, you know? We exchanged email addresses, and plan to keep in touch.

I know there are other threads about POFQ, but wanted to add my 2 cents about what a wonderful experience it was staying there!

Glad to hear you loved it as much as I do. I guess I'm not going to let one CM ruin my vacation. But then I'm just that type of person. I've always had great service at POFQ, but then I've only eaten at the resort twice so I may not be a good judge of that. I have so many fav places already that the only item that really interested me was the beignet, something I can only get there. Though I do have to get high praise the the double cheeseburger, french fries and chocolate shake I had there.

The only problem I ever had was no more cups in the room, which were brought promptly to us. Problem solved. Too bad my life isn't that easy.

:thumbsup2 We love FQ too. I loved your story about the lifeguards playing board games with the kids- nice that they did that and helped keep the kids happy and occupied.

So nice to have some positive reports rolling in...three weeks until I get to find out for myself !!!

I love POFQ--have stayed there 4 times. I have liked all the bad reviews lately. POFQ was staying too busy and too hard to get a discount or last minute ressie. Too bad the secret got out!!

We too love POFQ, we have stayed at other resorts and found that we like the FQ the most. CM are very friendly and go out of their way to help. One morning we were walking to the food court (from building 6, not much of a walk) one of the mousekeepers was going by on his golf cart and told us to hop in and gave us a ride to the food court. We too will be back there shortly, 8/22-8/31 cannot wait. :cheer2:

POFQ is my favorite resort of all in WDW (previously GF but saw the prices ;) )

3 weeks? Man, I'm so jealous. Have fun, and I want to hear all about it when you get back. At least the weather won't be a big adjustment for you. :rotfl2:

I have the same debate in my head every time someone asks about POFQ or favorite resorts. I'm tempted to say my favorite is somewhere else so POFQ doesn't get too busy.

OP: Glad you had such a terrific stay. Now you've got me hoping for a thunderstorm when my kids are in the pool just so the lifeguards will play with them!

I'm glad you posted this... I was starting to get a little worried. There have been a couple negative posts lately, and part of the reason I chose POFQ for my next trip is that I have seen so FEW negative threads about it. Glad you had a magical trip!

I had a magical moment like that too. This AM, the food court opened at 6AM. Our bell service was for 6:15, so I went quickly to get some coffee at 6:05. Well, they were still getting it ready. When I commented that I had a plane to catch, the cm fixing it said she would get me some from the cm coffee pot in the back. I really appreciated that! Such special treatment!

BTW, it tasted much better than what you get from the drink station!

LOL! Now I know what you mean and totally agree !

My husband and I really enjoyed POFQ when we stayed for a long weekend in February. We had a perfect room-king bed, corner, first floor, facing the river, just around the corner from the boat dock.

We liked it so much we are returning with the kids over Christmas. We will have 2 connecting rooms since we are a party of 5. I am so EXCITED.:santa:

I have the pirate cruise booked and we plan to go for a carriage ride on New Years Eve.

I love the boat to Downtown Disney and the fact that we get picked up first on the bus route.:)

Aren't the beignets yummy?

I hope to be able to get a chance to listen to the jazz musician in the lounge this trip.:thumbsup2
