Another fight and no one to stop it.

What we know -

- Two VERY LARGE groups of people got into a brawl in Fantasyland.
- Uniformed Security and Orange County Sheriffs arrived in 2 and 5 minutes.
- All persons were taken to WDW Security offices.
- Three individuals were arrested for misdemeanor battery.
- One individual was taken to the hospital for minor injury (cut on the chin).

This is all we know.

What has happened is one family ran to a blogging site to give their side of the story and provide a video - which did not verify their story, just showed the melee. We have no idea if what they said is true, I've have not seen any witnesses come forward to verify this story. We don't know for sure what happened before Philharmonic, we are only getting the story from the group who felt slighted. We have two different stories of who was waiting for who outside, we don't know what was said outside, we don't know who swung the first punch, we don't know anything - only a brawl with participants from both groups. I am not going to assume anything we heard is true or not. When you run to a blogger, lost credibility.

No where is an actual news reports anyone was charged with theft, damage to property etc so I will have to believe that part of their story was made up - but then I don't trust the blogging source anyway (big on fake stories for clicks). The story from them, if true, indicated the family that was asked to leave the hotel and trespassed was the family who believed they had been wronged??? Guess Disney didn't believe them?? No word on anything from the other (matching) family.

As far as the complaints on security - people are sure quick to lay blame on things they know nothing about. Disney Security that we see out front and walking about have lots of jobs but getting in the middle of a street fight is not one. Most are retired and in no position to battle. They aren't paid enough to get hurt. CMs in Fantasyland, absolutely not. They can ask other guests to leave the area, they can make sure some things are secured, they can keep a close watch as they are witnesses ... but jumping in to stop it - no way, not paid enough and that is not their job. Their job is notify security (who can secure the area) and the sheriff who come do the physical work. AND the parks are FULL of undercover cops. They very well could have been one of them holding back some of the swingers but they won't break cover, we are to think they were with them or another guest. People who just stood there videotaping and crying out for security need to just move on.

NOTE: I am here this week (DHS yesterday so missed it) but I can tell you guests are rude, guests areo horrid to CMs, guests are yelling, guests are cutting lines .... and it is quite disheartening behavior.
Actually I know one more thing: none of these people have the faintest clue of how to live in a civilized world. They don't belong in public. Sorry, not sorry if that sounds harsh to some.

This is what we get when society celebrates obnoxious, over-the-top reality show behavior and encourages it to permeate sports, government, schools and business boardrooms; rewards aggressive idiots with the biggest mouths - while disparaging or ignoring those who quietly follow rules and try to do the right thing; and refuses to hold people accountable for their actions.

We glorify and reward all the wrong behaviors today - and this is one outcome of that.
Yup...I've officially become another "get off my lawn" guy!

I've always thought that the classic business that happens when people commit safety violations on rides is a great showstopper. You know, when the ride stops dead and a disembodied voice says, "Ma'am, you need to sit down." And the culprit just slinks back down?

Wouldn't it be great if they did it outside of the rides? I can see it now, a booming voice appearing out of nowhere, "Your attention, please. We need for the group in the blue shirts at the entrance to Peter Pan to lower your hands and step back. Threatening behavior is not tolerated here, and if you do not back off and drop this immediately, you will be ejected from the park. That's right, put down the plastic pirate sword. ... and have a magical day."
Ha! I love this. But the sad truth is the family will then get a personal injury lawyer to sue for emotional distress and cackle as they collection millions from Disney to settle out of court. Disney will then fire the booming voice guy or gal.

I disagree. As a Libertarian I think it was fairly non-biased (especially coming from The Atlantic) and made some excellent points. Don’t agree with every conclusion/suggestion, but the general theme of people being divided from one another is pretty on-point.

Yeah, I thought it was very even handed and was explaining exactly WHY we have become so divided. It calls out all sides in the matter too - not that it's super relevant to this fight about line-cutting at Disney! 🙂

Don't just be an observer in life. You can be the centerpiece of the next WDW brawl video if you just let it all out at the next family that does something you don't like! Be the star you can be!
Nah I don't like being the center of attention, but I do enjoy a good show.

I just watched the video on TMZ (you know you've made it when you're on TMZ!). At around the 1:35 mark one of the non-matching family members says to the matching family, "Let it go you *expletive* monkeys. Let it go.". Wow. Just wow. I'm glad they were trespassed.

(Edited, I relistened to the audio without watching the video. I changed the quote but the monkey reference is still there.)

They apparently had some words when the girl tried to get past the red shorts group to rejoin her group after she retrieved her phone. Then the red shorts group waits for her outside AFTER the film is over. What the heck, you can't do what Elsa says and let it go. a fight results. No idea how that could be Disney's fault. Yes, they should all be banned. also everyone is freaking out and security was there within 2 minutes

At the point where they waited for her to come back out, it wasn't about their place in line anymore. so no, it wasn't about the length of the line or whether genie plus is frustrating.

I’ll never understand how these “news” items turn up and then we never hear what actually happened, was there any action taken etc., much like the interrupted proposal in Paris: was permission given? If so by who? What did Disney do to “make it right” I hate that there’s no more legitimate journalism.
It's because Disney kills the stories behind the scenes with pay offs and/or legal threats. The last thing they want is footage like this of their not-so-magical kingdom on a bad day.

The article is just cover for the usual divisive rhetoric.
One of my take aways from it was how small the extremes of both sides are yet they completely drown out the "moderate majority" and make it seem like every single person is on the far end of one side or the other. I don't see how facts like that add to the divisiveness you speak of.

That video is shameful. People are becoming so self-centered. Kindness, and manners are gone. For one group to wait and pounce on the other for one person it's pathetic. However, line jumping drives me nuts. I get the mom with toddler, but a group of adults, or teens makes me crazy. I get that we all try to be polite but when a steady stream of people keeps passing by it makes me crazy and I often wonder what happened further back in line that everyone stood there and let it happen.
Yes it is shameful,
yes people are to self centered
it all started when parents stopped parenting, and instead allowed, tv and video games teach children “values”

Some of the worst behavior I've ever seen came from people raised long before this so-called video game is the parent stuff that people like to pawn off as a reasoning for poor behavior. A lot of people try really hard to place blame on things without looking at themselves in the mirror when doing it

I agree. Look around. There's a ton of older people, raised in free-range, 2 hours of TV (maybe) per month that are behaving VERY badly.

When I worked a customer service job, the absolute worst behaving people I dealt with were older people (more specifically baby boomers). I don't think this behavior is new and I agree with other posters in that it's more noticeable now since most people have a phone with a camera.
