Annual pass question

I'm heading to Universal next month with a friend. I am going to buy the annual pass so I can get the discount at the hotel we are at (Dockside). I know I don't need to purchase it ahead of time to get the discount but I'm wondering logistically the best way to obtain the pass so we can hit the parks as early as possible.

We are not arriving until about midnight so I'm assuming any booths to buy or pick up passes will be closed.

We are hoping to get (either purchase there, or purchase in advance then pick up there) the annual pass early in the morning, then get to the park at least a half hour before early entry starts. Is this possible?

Also, I know the pass allows for a 10% discount on regular tickets. My friend will need a 3 day, 2 park, park-to-park ticket. The website says the discount applies at the gate. If I buy (or pick up) the pass at the hotel in the morning can I also get the discounted ticket for my friend? Hoping to not wait on two lines and just get there as early as possible. Obviously, the best scenario would be to physically obtain the pass in advance but that doesn't seem to be an option.

Thanks for any advice you can provide!

If you're up to trekking over late at night, city walk should be open and I think you can activate with them

Its easier and the same price or cheaper to get your friend's ticket through Undercover tourist
you could also get the same ticket for yourself and upgrade it to AP when you're there just need to do it before you use the last day of the ticket

This is exactly what we did for our son’s girlfriend’s ticket. So convenient.

I didn't even consider that! I didn't realize you could upgrade to an annual pass. That makes sense. I'll buy it in advance so I have it for the morning, then upgrade and show the hotel so I can get the APH rate. Thanks!
