Annual Pass purchase on DVC discount

So I just put an offer in on my first DVC....super excited! I know there are a lot of 'what ifs' still in the pipeline, but what is Disney's policy on purchasing an annual pass with the discount before receiving your docs?

I am going Nov 7 for a week and staying with friends off site; I was already going to purchase an annual pass but would love to get it cheaper with the DVC discount. If I've closed prior to that, but don't have my docs, can I still get the discount?

And, can it just be done like a normal pass with the upgrade? Currently have a 5 day park hopper that I wanted to convert. TIA!

You will need your member card/number to get the discount. If purchasing through Member Services (a voucher over the phone) they won't talk to you until you are a member.

For an upgrade, you will have to do it at the park and have to have your ID card.

You can get your member card at the service center inside after your account is crated, so you don't have to wait for it to come in the mail. But you do have to have a member number before you'll be eligible for any discounts.
