Sadly, I followed your logic completely and clearly.

This is no compliment, (since I'm a most inbeloved frog), but I'm not trying to be mean, just honest!

You need to go at least 10 days to get your money's worth out of an AP.
Actually, if you know you're taking 2 trips in a year, doesn't that break-even point (# of days) decrease? That's what DH figured for next year. He's going in April for 5 days, then planning to go again in the fall and only go to the parks for a couple days. He has 2 options: either buy a 7 day hopper, non expiring ticket in April, for $367.43 or buy a 5 day hopper non-expiring one then, for a cost of $267.32, then a 2 day hopper in the fall, for a cost of $188.51, making the yearly total about $455. That's not counting all the AP discount golf he says he "has to" play to be extra sure he gets his money's worth :)

Wow, so glad we just bought our DVC AP's on our trip a week ago or I might have missed the increase notices!

I'm glad we bought our passes last year and didn't get them until we went down in May 2006. We used them for 6 days. Next we are going on SSMCO6 and will be staying at WDW the day before and several days after for another 5 days on the passes. Finally, we will be going down next May (a week before these expire) so we'll get another 6 days or more. By the time the passes expire we will have used them for a minimum of 17 days.

The break even point doesn't decrease, it stays the same. All that changes is whether it makes sense for you to buy an AP or not based on the number of days you plan to use it in a year compared to the break even point.

And there is another option for your husband- buy 10 day tickets that don't expire and use the 3 days that are left after this year some time in the future.
