I just purchased AP's for my family of 4 online. I told the system the names of each of the family members as we had the account set up for prior trips and my confirmation shows all 4 names. MDE tells me to customize my magic bands but only has quantity 2 for me and my husband. Any ideas why this is?

Did only two of you have APs in the past?
Or, are there two current (or recently-expired) APs registered to your family?

All 4 of us had APs at one point. My husband and I had APs that expired in mid October of this year. The kids expired in January 2014. The system is letting me order MBs for my husband and me and not for the kids.

I think it would be fun to get the AP MB box with all 4 together if possible.

As I see it, your recent APs are being "seen" by the system
and it is allowing you to order MBs for your new APs in relation to those that expired in October.

Read through THIS current AP/MB thread.

You might try calling WDW IT at (407) 939-3471 or (407) 939-7849.
Or try calling WDW Ticketing Guest Relations at (407) 566-4985 (option 5)
and see if they can't arrange a MB for each of the four of you.

Thanks. So if we were brand new would we not be able to order MB? I wonder why the kids aren't included in it. Not that Disney IT has to make sense..

1. That's the way it has been so far. MBs for new APs have not been sent until AFTER the first
trip to WDW in which the new APs were activated. (MBs sent sometime after guests have retuned home).

2. My GUESS is because they did not have APs that recently expired (as you did.)

Ahhhh. I see. That sort of makes sense now. OK. As I said I will call and see if they will send them in advance of our January trip. Not a huge deal but would be fun.

Except they will probably never ship. I have a similar situation on my MDE and it has been that way since February of this year; they were about to ship and then the passes expired and they have just sat there ever since. The system will realize they aren't current and they aren't renewed.

Unless something major has happened, of course. Which would be awesome. It's silly that they don't ship them until after the first trip.
 
Magic Bands for APs were only available after March 2014. The kids APs were expired by then and they never were invited to get a MB. The 2 adults APs were active and you could have gotten MBs anytime after March 2014 but you failed to do so. Your invite for the AP MBs was available in your MDE but never acted on. As said above, the kids APs have to be activated and then the AP MB option is included in their MDE.

We were being invited to customize the AP MBs well before March, FWIW. I did the process before ours expired (and in thinking about our 2013 trip when we got them that would make it early February 2014) and then it just sat and sat and sat. And still sits 10+ months later.

March 10th was the first day I was able to order and customize my AP MB and March 12th was the first day I was able to reserve FPs using my AP. It shipped March 19 and arrived a few days later. I did it as fast as anyone who only had an AP, if you had WDW resort reservations you could have ordered those MBs months earlier. The tricky part on ordering the AP-only MB was providing all the shipping info before any of the design customization. It took me a few tries before I figured that out but once I did, it was very straight forward. I and several others used Twitter to see how each was progressing in our AP-only MB requests. Everyone had about the same experience. I got a blue MB.
