Correct me if I'm wrong. If annual pass is not yet activated, then your first visit can be on a blackout date? I remember that being so when I had an AP many years ago.

If you have an AP that has blackout dates, go to the park to activate it, why would you be let in on a blackout date?

Maybe I'm just remembering incorrectly. Don't know if I read it somewhere that the first visit could be on any day, even a blackout date if the pass has not been activated at the turnstiles yet. Meaning you bought it online and you have the e-ticket that needs to be exchanged for the one day ticket at the turnstiles which then has to be taken to ticket booth for exchange for a card.

One day ticket?

It says on the e-ticket "Once your valid Disney's e-Ticket has been scanned and voided, you will receive a standard Disneyland Resort ticket for processing at any ticket booth". You show them your e-Ticket at the turnstiles and they give you a one day park ticket so you can go and enjoy the park and then sometime before you leave you go and exchange that at any ticket booth for your annual pass card. You then have to re-enter the park to have your picture taken and connected to your annual pass card. That is how we had to do it last time, which was about 3 years ago. Doesn't seem like that process has changed. My question about being able to activate the pass on any day even a blackout date since its the first visit. After that I believe blackout dates would apply. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I can't tell if your asking about disneyland or disneyworld. i can't speak for how disneyland does it. At disneyworld you would need valid admission for a blackout date. There is no photo on the annual pass, all the places to exchange the voucher are available before entering the park.

I'm asking about Disneyland. It says on the e-ticket/voucher "Once your valid Disney's e-Ticket has been scanned and voided, you will receive a standard Disneyland Resort ticket for processing at any ticket booth". Seems like they want you to get a one day ticket in exchange for the voucher at the turnstiles and enjoy the park and at any time before you leave go to the ticket booth to get your annual pass card and then re-enter the park to get your picture taken so that it shows up on their screen when you use the pass after that. So if they are giving you a single day ticket in exchange for the voucher that says you purchased an annual pass, It almost reads as if you can go on any day to start the process, even if it would be normally blacked out for the pass, since you don't have to get that pass until you are done at the end of the day. Does that sound correct?

You will have better luck asking your question on a Disneyland forum: http://disboards.com/forums/disneyland-california.26/

This is due to the fact that Disneyland's APs are processed inside the park, not outside at the booth like a WDW AP is. I can't speak to the blackout dates, but I was issued a one day ticket to enter the park and activate my Premier AP when I was at DL.

yep, Disneyland activates inside the park, not outside, so they send you in to do it. I don't know how they deal with it on blackout days. Disneyland forum might have that answer.
