THere was suppose to be some big announcement made in Feb. Has anyone heard about it yet?!?!?

I'm pretty sure it is suppose to be at a press meeting at the end of February. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Is it just aabout DCL, or the entire Disney organization? I know that there is a stockholder meeting at the end of February (I think..) and Roy Disney is trying to convince major stockholders to oust Eisner...could that be it? Not trying to start rumors, there was just a big article about it in the Boston Globe....

There was suppose to be an announcement about DCL this month about what's going to happen for the rest of 2005. Like where the ships are going. The rumor is CA , but haven't been on the boards that much and thought I might have missed it!

That a big announcement would be made in MARCH!

It's a wait and see game!

we were talking with cruise director racheal and she mentioned that there was a lot of ideas in the works. such as the baha of so. california with baha mexico, and a ton of requests for alaska and southern carribean(belize) she mentioned that alaska is out of the question until the new ship is configured due to there would have to be a major amount of "indoor recreation areas" needed for that climate. we tried to squeeze more info out of her on the time frame for the new ship, she wouldnt budge:rolleyes: , but she did say(we like this one::yes:: ) that she wouldnt be suprised if some itineraries were changed suddenly to new ports without notice.............we wouldnt mind. im sure alot of the repeat cruisers wouldnt mind some fresh, new, suprises as well! thats all i got, folks!!! 2 hours after that conversation, dh booked the western:Pinkbounc same time next year!

she also said"dont quote me on this" with a big wink;) and an even bigger smile:p !!!

Capt. Tom was hinting at Alaska as a potential destination when he spoke at the Castaway Club reception on the Magic last June. Sort of like, if this is something that interests you make a note of it on your cruise feedback questionnaire.

I suspect they were seriously trying to get a handle on that because of the need to do something different with a 3rd ship. But I haven't heard anything about a 3rd ship anywhere.

According to an article by Al Lutz at MiceAge ( http://www.miceage.com/allutz/al012204a.htm ), the media kickoff event for Disneyland's 50th anniversary had been scheduled for Monday, February 23, 2004. If the rumor is true that the Disney Magic will temporarily operate out of a port in Southern California for part of 2005, then the February 23 event would have been the logical place to make such an announcement.

However, according to Al's article, the new executive team at Disneyland (including former DCL boss Matt Ouimet) is making so many changes to the plans for Disneyland's 50th anniversary, that the date for the media event has been pushed back to July 17, 2004 (Disneyland's 49th anniversary).

DCL can't wait until July 2004 to announce the summer 2005 itineraries and dates. So now DCL is on its own. Other major cruise lines haven't announced their itineraries and dates beyond May 2005 either, and I'm told to expect them in March. I wouldn't be surprised if DCL will also announce their plans for the remainder of 2005 some time next month.

Horace Horsecollar, you beat me to relaying that info. THe Disney company was "hijacking" Disneyland's 50th anniversary (partially due to Disneyland's lack of innovative plans/rides for the 50th) by having ALL of the Disney parks participating in Disney's Golden Anniversary (or something to that effect). Hopefully, now Disneyland with management that cares about the park will give us something to look forward to (including the Magic for a while:bounce: :Pinkbounc )

Moving the Magic to CA for test marketing is a great idea. If it goes over well then DCL knows a third ship is needed. We would miss the Magic in the Caribbean. If they do the move I hope they end up positioning the ship back out of Port Canaveral. It is much cheaper for us here in IA to fly to Florida than to CA for some reason. Kathy

If Disney sends one out West I think I will have to throw myself at their mercy and try to keep it out here! Maybe I'll tape myself to the front (think Titanic) and hope they will keep it out West! I love WDW but Disneyland is SO much cheaper for us to get to and 1/2 the time...for my 5 year old less time on an airplane would be wonderful!

I hope they move it out here....and keep it here for a little while anyway so we could go again soon!

Heidi

Heidi, where are you at in Utah? And I think I'll follow you in taping myself to the front of the Magic. Maybe we should try rope. Are you good with knots? ;)

I live in Salt Lake (holladay area). I am embarrased to say this but I dont know where West Point is. I think that's where it said you lived. By the way I LOVE your name..my 10 year old dd's name is McKaylee so good choice I guess! :D

Having some company up front would be great....lets get planning it....anyone else interested??? LOL

Heidi

Heidi, West Point is a little town just south of ogden. Were're about 30 min from you. Oh, and Makaylee is my daughters name, i'm Mamie. Much more unattractive than Makaylee. Oh well, at least my daughter has a cute name ;) We (U &I) have good taste. Oh, and for heavens sake don't be embarrased. :D

Mamie...

Yes we do seem to have good taste in girls names dont we? ;)

Now that you tell me where West Point is I remember it. My uncle lives in Ogden and I know we've been by West Point at least once when we got lost and couldnt find his house. How old is your daughter?

Heidi

My DD is 6. We actually just moved here from Las Vegas. My husband is in the Air Force so we move all the time. He's in Korea right now so I'm here all by myself. He left 4 days after we moved into our new house. I miss him terribly but I absolutly love Utah!
