Animator's Palate butter knives - how to wash

Does anyone know if the Animator's Palate knives that you buy in the gift shop are dishwasher safe? My kids thought they were 'cool', so I bought one for each of us, but I don't want to put them in the dishwasher and wreck them.

If they are the exact same as in AP, my assumption would be they are. I doubt they are hand-washed on the ship.

I tend to handwash mine because I want to preserve it...no idea when i will be back on DCL to buy another one in case this one gets ruined!!

That was my thought at first, too, but who knows if they're identical to the ones in the MDR?

I plan on picking one up on my next cruise. I think it's great that they're selling them in the gift shops now. I would wash it by hand just to keep its fresh look but DCL runs all that stuff through the dishwasher so i'm sure you'll be safe either way.

Someone that has one, can you please give me the dimensions of the butter knife? Length of the blade, and the length of the entire knife? I'm trying to figure out if Canadian airport security would permit them as carry on. Does anyone know?

Looks like the blade is about 3 1/2 inches, full length 7 inches.

Upon further research, it seems Canada won't allow knives of ANY sort in carry ons for flights into the US, including butter knives, even though the TSA allows utensils, including butter knives. Oh well. So much for that.

I asked the CM to wrap mine in bubble wrap and he did. If you're checking any luggage, it can go in there safely.
