As an owner, I am really hoping they don't eff it up too, such a beautiful special resortWhen I read they are going to make the resort " brighter " with the refurbishment, it really worries me. I don't mind the darker tones of the room since it matches the vibe, but I will be really upset if they ruin my favorite resort by making it a generic white wall modern room. I hope they don't touch the lobby. I love how dim it is at night.
This is the crown jewel of theming. Please, don't ruin it. Not this place
Yes, okay, but can we agree they should get rid of the Hershey barWhen I read they are going to make the resort " brighter " with the refurbishment, it really worries me. Yes! They can keep things dark and elegant but get rid of the cheap brown painted cabinets and trims, dated flooring, etc.
Theming is the extension of the magic. It makes the Disney Bubble complete. DVC has started de-theming during refurbs and it's a trend I find troubling. I find PIT underwhelming. Poly was over the top in themes, but PIT is just beige. I understand the refurb at Boardwalk is also got the marriott treatment. We are going in a few weeks to Boardwalk and will see first hand. I will see BWV first hand in a few weeks. The photos I have seen show really toned down theming. The rooms were colorful and vibrant. I am hoping it is not all muted and beige. Hanging a few pictures in the room does not make themes. It is the whole color pallet and little details as well. The rooms at boardwalk look beautiful after refurbishment and are fully themed. Same with the rooms at GF ( although I don't like the colors in the lobby of BPK, seems 80's. Some resorts do it better than others. BC refurb didn't do anything for me. Poly tower rooms seem super small and I don't like the layout or colors, but I love the moana theme of the non DVC rooms. Let's see what they do to the copper creek room refurbs coming up, which always had a nice theme.
Fingers crossed for AKL
Just returned from BWV and the theming for me was spot on. I never saw what it was previously but I was in awe of the theming, it was elegant yet fun. Perfection imo.I will see BWV first hand in a few weeks. The photos I have seen show really toned down theming. The rooms were colorful and vibrant. I am hoping it is not all muted and beige. I sure hope you are right and I am just being an alarmist.
100%. It’s that chocolate brown trim. My starter home had painted brown cabinets like picture above…I’m hoping the refurb at AKL makes me like those villas more. This sounds incredibly silly but what I could never get past was just how much the color scheme there reminded me of my college apartment….

I will never forget the first time I walked into that lobby with the Christmas music on and decorations up. It was truly magicalView attachment 959838
Agreed. I don't think there is a better lobby. And you're right about the dimness at night. This was around midnight and the camera adjustments make it look brighter than it really is.
