Hello,

Would animal kingdom be a good place to ask someone to marry you? :goodvibes

If so, what location in the park would be a good idea?

THanks

That is so CUTE! I love that idea.

Can you think of something that your fiance-to-be really likes. Ex. my friend LOVES tigers and she would love to be proposed to near them. hmm, what about on the new Expedition Everest ride!!!! As the yetti is about to get you guys you can scream "WILL YOU MARRY MEEAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH"... just kidding! lol. I'm in a weird mood today, sorry about that!

Ok serious ideas. hmmmmm, Oh, I think on the safari would be so neat! But that's very public, so if you were looking for intimate and private, that wouldn't work.

Maybe someone else can give you some more romantic ideas, i'm stumped. Its lunch time, I blame my hunger!

DH and I had a very romantic walk in the trails around the Tree of Life. Many of the paths were deserted and there are some secluded spots with beautiful scenery.

We especially liked the part at the back by the exit to It's Tough to Be a Bug during the shows, because nobody is back there. However, you gotta time your proposal there just right because as soon as the show ends WHAM! A bazillion people swarm you! :rotfl:

safari sounds interesting.

As far as is being private or public. I know she would rather it be semi public (so that there are witnesses, don't ask me about it hahha..)

i'm like multiple years over due for this haha (we've been together for nearly 8 years now) :yay:

omg..so sweet.. i persoanlly love the tree of life.. so i like lurky's idea about doing by the exit of its tough to be a bug.. then again, i think the safari would be rad, and you would make other peoples day!!

I third the TOL. There are some semi-secluded spots there. If you're not stuck on Animal Kingdom, in front of Cinderella Castle would be totally magical!! (Maybe during Kiss Goodnight??)

Maybe you could go on the backstage safari and see if there was some way you guys could get the safari tour alone and do it at some point along that?

if you can manage to go and quiet day, wait until towards the end of the day when the sun is setting (if its open that late) and go to the dawa bar in Africa. As the sun sets, stand by the bridge and look out into the river. It's gorgeous. Personally, that's my favorite place in all of Animal Kingdom - but only if it's not SUPER busy.

Ohhhh , maybe since she might like semi public... you could do it on the safari, and somehow pre-arrange for the tour guide/driver to say something silly kind of announcing that YOU have a question for your GF. i don't know if they are allowed to do that, but I think that would completely catch her off guard.

If I had had a semi-public proposal at AK that is what I would have wanted!
I would have expected a proposal by the Tree of Life. For more privacy and if you want to get down on one knee, there are some really beautiful paths near the tigers.

hummm

so, how would i be able to sneak in the ring and ring box into the park without blowing my cover?

Don't they have metal detectors? The box has some metal on it.

perhaps i should leave the box in the car?

Yes, it is a beautiful place... My friend actually planned it when he walked into the park right where the Disney photopass photographers are at on a bridge where you can see the tree of life he did it there and the photopass pictures are GREAT!! Tears and all ;)

no metal detectors. They do a bag search, that's it. So, send your GF thru the no bag line and you do the bag serch so it can be private, or hide the ring box in your pocket (cargo pants?)

I was thinking public would be cute maybe at the opening of the lion king show. They always pick a person from each section to do an animal sound. If you got there early to wait and then snuck off to find a Cm they might pick you and let you do a proposal.

OR

How about right when you get to the park, there are always photopass photographers waiting to get your pic in front of the tree of life. What if you did a pose or two, then asked for one more shot, got down on your knee and asked her? That way you'd have it captured in pictures and you won't have to wait all day worrying about when and where and how to do it.

There are som nice areas near to the water allong the walkway between Africa and Asia. If you go early in the morning you could have it to yourself as everbody else is doing the Everest/Safari Sprint!

I think if you want to do it semi-public, I agree with the others that the safari would be great. On the loudspeaker the guide could say, "We've rescued the baby elephant and found the poachers! Now we have one more mystery to clear up before we get back from our three week African Safari. Let's say Jambo to kelelon and 'so and so'. Kelelon has known 'so and so' for x many years and he's wondering if 'so and so' will spend the rest of their years together." That would be your cue.

Maybe you could reserve a special jeep for the safari and before you get on, they could put your significant other's picture up on the board where they have pictures of all the animals you might see.

Not that they would ever let you do this, but maybe you could put a sign on a giraffe :)

Maybe you could do a "walk down memory lane" thing. On our first date, my DF and I took a long long walk around the city. When we got engaged, we went on the same long walk and stopped at places we went to on our first date. I knew "what" was coming, but I didn't know "when", which was the sneaky part :) Could you come up with enough memories of things you did in AK?

Or could you arrange for the dream team to come and bring you the E-ring when you first come into the park.

Oh, how romantic! I love the AK and I would love to have my wedding in-park there.

The TOL is a romantic spot. I also like the various walkways near the tigers, especially in the early morning when it is misty/foggy and quiet.

I love the idea about doing it before FOTLK when they are asking people to make animal sounds. Or working with the Safari CMs to announce it! Maybe you could contact the park beforehand and arrange a private safari vehicle. Last time I was there, some honeymooners in line before me got their own private ride from the Dream Team.

Whatever you do, you have to come back and tell us all about it! And show us lots of pictures! ;)

Oh, I would love to be proposed to in AK, never mind getting married there, it's my favourite WDW park!

My ideas:

- I like the places where there is a Photopass photographer. Just think of all the nice pictures they will be able to make => Free engagement pictures!!!! ;)
Before the TOL, or where there is the temple with EE in the background?

- For a more private spot: around the TOL, or when you take smaller paths throughout the park. What are her favourite animals? Maybe near them?

- FOTLK: While it sounds fun, it would not be something for me, way too public!

- Safaris: call the park beforehand, and ask what they can do to accomodate you. I have read about great proposals, involving a lot of CM/ character help/ interaction, so it can be possible!

Good luck, and let us know what you did and how it ended and when/ where we have to be for the wedding reception! ;)
