Hey! Can. Not. Wait for our Disney trip in December!! We are staying at AKL. Any tips/hints/secrets you have to share to make it even more awesome?

We stayed a few nights at AKL in December 2010 and had a great time . The resort is beautiful all decorated for the holidays and we loved just walking around the resort taking in the atmosphere. I would suggest a dinner at Boma, although I've read many reports that breakfast is great, too . Have a great trip .

Less of a tip to make it more awesome, more of a tip to pre-empt a meltdown .

Don't let your kids buy balloons, or at least explain to them before you get back to the resort with them why you can't have balloons at AKL [It's for the Animals safety].

Take the time to head over to Sanaa for a meal. Its my favorite restaurant on WDW property. The food is amazing, and as a bonus you get a view of the savanna.

It's pricey, but I loved the Wanyama safari - if you can possibly swing it I strongly recommend this as you must be staying @ AKL to do it.

Get night vision scopes to watch the animals.

There are a whole lot of activities at AKL that are great to take advantage of - especially for kids - so make sure you check out the sheet they give you at check in - Night Vision goggles, marshmallow roast, cultural chats, bead making, cookie making etc. etc. etc.

AKL is one of a kind amazing resort IMO! Enjoy!

I agree with this wholeheartedly; be sure to take a day, or at least some time each day to simply enjoy this magnificent resort. If you have a savannah view, plan to spend some time just chilling on the balcony with your favorite drink.

We've stayed there once before too and just love it. We will also be there again in December. Can't wait to see the big Christmas Tree! Take some time to walk around the resort. It's an amazing place to just "take in"
