Animal Kingdom a major Flop!

I don't feel like me warning you was wrong at all! I was simply watching out for Melly!
Because...? You feel melly can't make her points on her own, that she has trouble expressing herself? Seems to me she's doing just fine getting her points and opinions across (in a MUCH more reasonable and mature fashion than "Animal Kingdom is a flop!"). We just happen to disagree with her.

As for five people quoting her, well, that's for simple clarity. You may not agree that quoting the portion/s of a post to which one is posting makes absolute sense and reduces or eliminates confusion... but it does.

And HONESTLY, if you didn't need a disclaimer then why did you put one in!?
Describing what one has in common with another poster, even one with whom one disagrees, is just that - a description. It's NOT a disclaimer.

My point was 5 people saying the same thing 5 time is redundant. At some point one of the 5 people should read the actual thread and think "Wow, I agree with the other 4, maybe I should respond to them about what I agree with".

Honestly, why was I quoted 3 times when clearly I and the other recipient were finished? I was told the same thing 3 time on three diffrent occasions. The original post is over 25 posts away. It's dead. Why feel the need to bring it back up? These people are pot stirers, and do not kid yourself. I am not going to sit back and take it. If you quote me, expect a response.

It has been proven that DAK is financially not a flop. It is also not a flop with the fans. Both are facts. You know this to be true, it's been stated more than enough in this thread, the argument of DAK being a flop is dead. The argument is with people trying to correct other people's opinions. This thread has turned into a battle of those-whose-favorite-park-is-DAK vs. everyone else. The DAK people say you don't like it because "you fail to see the little details" or "ask the CM about this".

You, kaytieeldr, do not need to reply to every post that disagrees with you with something like "did you ever ask the CM about why there are no straws" or "walk the trails, they replace the little rides". I personally have done all that and I get bored around 3. I do not enjoy the bird show, I do not like the Lion King show all that much, I am not a fan of Dinosaur, Kali, or Dinoland USA. I have don the animals, but I live next to a zoo with far more exotic animals, so I go for the rides and atmosphere. I get all I possibly can get in within 5 hours and I go. It's my least favorite of them all as it simply doesn't keep me entertained. Do not try to correct my opinion of the park. I have seen everything, and done everything. I had a seasonal pass and went many many many times. I explored the park, collected the stamps, saw the animals, discovered the hidden theaming of Dinoland, I saw Lucky the dinosaur, did the safari ride in the morning, ate and the 3 main restaurants, and now I'm bored of it.

And PS-

This is, in fact, a disclaimer. Aka, I know I just said you are wrong but allow me to justify my response.

"Obviously you are entitled to your opinion but, for me, DAK beats any of our zoos hands down because of the mix of things to do (and I agree, it is not a zoo - I like WDWSearcher's description!)."

PSS-

Why is this thread still open? It clearly has run it's course. This battle goes in circles because it's a battle of opinion. I say we accept other diffrent likes and dislikes and move on without sneer remarks.

Not until everyone agrees that Animal Kingdom is not just not a flop, but the best Walt Disney World park ever! :rotfl2:
Kidding or not, you are actually doing this. Not everybody likes the DAK the best. Most would say MK is the best. I think the MK is the best Does that make it fact? No. It's my opinion.

I think it's time for peace. :flower3:

Sorry Melly, as a fellow Brit I have to disagree with you! I would much rather spend a day at DAK then ANY zoo in the UK. I personally find the mix of rides, shows, characters and animals to be just about right.

I completely agree, I would still rather be there but my point was that If I want to see animals I'd rather go to somewhere like Chester zoo and if I want to go on rides I'd go to one of the several other parks in Orlando that are much better and do have all the shows as well. Its not that I think the place is naff, just that It seems they have had a "half go" at doing the animal side and the same for the rides. Look at the rides in Dino land, its as if the budget ran out so they lobbed in any old gyppo rides that you would get at a cheap english fairground.

Hey all. No one has offended me in any way. T'other posters just have a different opinion on the AK than me while others share my opinion, there's nothing wrong with that!!!

You, kaytieeldr, do not need to reply to every post that disagrees with you with something like "did you ever ask the CM about why there are no straws" or "walk the trails, they replace the little rides".
I've checked the DIS rules; nothing indicates any member does or does not have to, or may or may not, respond to any post or posts they choose. "Did you ever ask the CM about... (which I don't recall saying, but rather, more to the effect of "Have you ever had a conversation with a Cast Member..." was meant to encourage DISers to, well, engage Cast Members in conversation and learn more about both the park and the CMs' homes. "...why there are no straws" has been MORE than adequately answered in this thread.

I also never stated or implied the trails replace the little rides; any statement made about the trails has simply been another effort to get naysayers to learn more about the park as a whole.

And, please, grab a dictionary. Learn the definition of 'disclaimer' before you use it incorrectly again. It appears what you've been labeling disclaimers are actually explanatory statements.

THAT is an easy one...because anyone who thinks that AK stinks or isn't enjoyable MUST have been dropped on their head as an infant. Multiple times.

Sheesh. Is that so hard for people to understand? :sad2:
It's not hard for anyone to understand. (We're all quite clever, actually.) But for those who love Animal Kingdom (or even for those who don't love it, but do appreciate it), they enjoy voicing their opinion as much as the folks who DON'T like Animal Kingdom.

Sheesh. Is that so hard for you to understand? :goodvibes

:earsboy:

Then, respectfully - you're not agreeing with the OP :teeth: It's understood that this is not your favorite park, but you admit to enjoying it - therefore, it's not a flop in your eyes.

I didn' realize I was in school. Yes I do agree with the OP. I do a lot of things that are not neccessarily my favorite thing to do, yet I try to make the best of what is around me. I never said it was a flop. I simply said it wasn't my favorite. If I had just a few days and had to make a choice as to which park to miss. AK would be the one. What happened to everyone being able to have an opinion on something that is different than others? It's o.k. for people not to like the park, it is no reflection on your choices, it's just not their cup of tea. And I don't think that bashing their personal preferences is our job.

Again ... you are free to skip this thread if you do not want to continue. You are just as guilty as anyone else for perpetuating this thread. Simply pass on by it, and it won't bother you any more!

And really ... "I think it's time for peace". Isn't that a little overdramatic for a thread that is, basically, just a back-and-forth of opinions? There's a little snarkiness here and there, but it's far more civil than many other threads on this board. This is a discussion taking place on a board designed for discussion. It all seems very peaceful to me. :hippie:

Hiya,

I haven't read every single post in the middle of the thread - sorry.....

my opinion... we use AK as an "easy" day, nice to wind down, walk around, smell the roses (or other smells.....;)). Nice not to rush from ride to ride, just kick back and have some family fun.

I know that AK is bigger, more walking involved, with lots of stuff to see, so it is great to slow down and not just be about the thrill stuff.

There is no rule in the DIS posting guidelines that threads cannot get redundant. Plus, last time I checked, this was a discussion board. Each of those 5 people had their own take on melly's statement and just as she was entitled to share her opinion, they were entitled to state their opinions.

Again, if people quote you, typically they do expect a response. And clearly you aren't done with this thread or you wouldn't be back here replying to it again. A quote is intended to direct comments at a specific poster and again, you could be quoted 500 times in this thread, there is no limitation or "proper protocol"

It has been proven that DAK is financially not a flop. It is also not a flop with the fans. Both are facts. You know this to be true, it's been stated more than enough in this thread, the argument of DAK being a flop is dead. The argument is with people trying to correct other people's opinions. This is actually a very civil thread. The majority of posters have stuck closely to the original topic. No one is forcing anyone to accept their premise, but that doesn't mean they can't state their premise. You seem to enjoy twisting words and paraphrasing to make what other posters say suit your agenda. Many posters, myself included, pointed out the details of AK. We weren't saying that anyone was "failing," we were merely sharing some of our favorite elements of the park that may go overlooked. Most people seemed quite appreciative of the posts and felt the details were something to look forward to on future trips to AK.

Do not try to correct my opinion of the park. I have seen everything, and done everything....and now I'm bored of it.

That is perfectly fine. You don't have to like Animal Kingdom, but you shouldn't get defensive or irritated that posters who DO like AK are posting the elements that they like. So you feel you've done everything in the park, cool, good for you. There are lots of people who haven't and might like to hear more about the lesser known elements of AK.

And PS-

"Obviously you are entitled to your opinion but, for me, DAK beats any of our zoos hands down because of the mix of things to do (and I agree, it is not a zoo - I like WDWSearcher's description!)."

I think you need to learn the proper use of disclaimer as well. The definition is: 1 a : a denial or disavowal of legal claim : relinquishment of or formal refusal to accept an interest or estate b : a writing that embodies a legal disclaimer.

It has nothing to do stating your opinion.

Respectfully, each time you post to this thread, you are contributing to keeping the discussion going. As for moving on without sneer remarks, there have been little to none of those within this thread. The majority of argumentative posts are not on the subject of AK, but rather over how some people feel others should or shouldn't express their opinions

Kidding or not, you are actually doing this. Not everybody likes the DAK the best. Most would say MK is the best. I think the MK is the best Does that make it fact? No. It's my opinion.

No one has claimed that AK is the best and no other park comes close etc. Is it the favorite of some? Absolutely. If there was a thread started that said "MK is a flop" is would get just as much response and there would be people for and against the statement.

Back to the original topic...

I've been to AK dozens of times and on my last trip I found something really cool! I was walking towards Expedition Everest from Asia and near the monkey temple area there is a path...with a sign. I zoomed in with my camera and noticed it was a sign for Kali River Rapids, but it had a slightly different version of the attraction name. It was fascinating. I can't help but wonder if this was originally supposed to be the entrance, or a 2nd entrance? It was a neat discovery! I have a picture on my computer at home and I'll post it later tonight.

At the risk of being berated by the naysayers ;) next time you go, if you have time, take the Wild by Design behind-the-scenes tour. Even if you don't have that much time, or the desire to devote the time/money (excuse me while I prepare for attack...) :umbrella: find a Cast Member near the sign and ASK about it :teeth:

Hehe! :lmao:

I meant to ask a Cast Member about it in October, it was so cool! But that's just me, I'm fascinated by details (not that I think others are failing to see them  :rolleyes1). I freaked out when we were directed backstage at Epcot on New Years Eve 2006! It was amazing and just as magical as the park itself to me :cloud9:

I'll definitely investigate this "secret second entrance" in March :thumbsup2

Oh, backstage is GREAT, especially when it's unexpected (said the voice of experience ;)). Seriously, some time when you have the time, I do strongly recommend the Wild by Design tour.

What is it? They didn't mention it on my WbD tour (which I also highly recommend).

It's not technically a behind-the-scenes tour though--it's all onstage. But it was definitely the highlight of our trip anyway.

Just wanted to add:

I *love* the music at Animal Kingdom! I listen to Live365 frequently (Sorcerer Radio, Mouseworld Radio, Park Hopper Radio etc.) and the music from Flame Tree BBQ, the Oasis and Discovert Island is so soothing and beautiful!

I'm listening to the Flame Tree Area music right now :goodvibes
