Another OKW question

If you were to rent points at OKW at 11 months out and landed a studio near the HH, but then decided later on you rather not be near HH, could you change that at check-in? I know the opposite would not be allowed, but could you trade a HH location for a regular location? Thanks!!

You can request anything you want, but the odds of a "view" being granted that is not part of the "view" you booked are quite a bit lower. There is no points difference between HH and regular, so why not switch the booking? If it's not available then that means your request stands a low chance of being granted.

I would get the member you're renting points from to waitlist a standard (not HH) room if you really don't want to be near HH.

I'm thinking that your room assignment is set up several days before you check in. So theoretically all the other non-HH studios could be already assigned. However, thinking that they might "sprinkle pixie-dust" by giving some one else a HH studio, and therefore give you the one they'd been assigned to (and hope that the guests who are getting "pixie-dusted" really would consider it an upgrade, and didn't make the conscious choice of wanting the non-HH category), the front desk CM MIGHT grant your request at check-in. However, I'd recommend trying to change to the standard category now.

It doesn’t hurt to ask and odds are much better in the direction you’re going. What is your goal? I could see something like wanting ground floor and HH area, but if not available letting them know you’re willing to give up HH if it makes 1st floor possible. Then sure, go ahead and hit the front desk on check-in day and see what options they can work for your stay.

Bingo! This is reasoning for such possible scenario. No big deal either way, so I thought I would ask.

Most likely could get modified on site, out of that HH category. You are limiting yourself to 8 buildings with HH. (They did this divide with so many requests to be closer to HH). Being same points chart, a lot more buildings further out.

OKW is usually very good with requests. Even first floor. They try. Not like other places where the assigner sees..first floor for xy&z please, then tosses you on top floor in the “back 40”.

What is your fear of being in the near HH bucket of rooms? I had some concerns which were justified during our last stay and check in (didn't want to be in the main parking lot as it's busy and parking is a pain) so we asked for and were granted a room in the Peninsular Road bucket of rooms that is still in the near HH group. Was an easy walk to the pool/food/drink refills across that bridge but parking was great (got the same spot almost every day) and it's very close to the bus for those few days we wanted to go to a BUS > drive park (talking to you MK). We were in building 23 and we loved it.

Not my experience with our only trip to OKW but once I explained I had a concern due to a medical condition which was legit (my Camry lost a fight with a tow truck/driver who was on his cell phone a few years ago) and my concerns with my daughter still in a stroller and such, they were able to find us a ground floor room. Now that the kids are a bit older and we don't have the stroller to worry about I'd not be as concerned with the 2nd floor
