Animal Crossing-City Folk

oh no, did you have a storm or anything???

Have you done a Google search to see if this is some sort of inherent problem? Did you speak to anyone at Nintendo?

(I think I will). (just did a quick search, sending it to Nintendo seems to be the universal answer). Hope they can save your info.

Ours is not saved to any card, if it goes, it's gone...

Oh my im really missing AC at the moment, due to all the building work at mine im still unable to play it.

All my flowers are dead and my town a mess :( Hopefully next week i'll be able to get back on and fix my town.

Oh NO Duchie! I hope you don't suffer the same fate as me... :sad1: I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I tried MANY times to get my game to load yesterday, and it finally did one time. I rushed around and managed to put one of each of my hybrids in my house so if Nintendo can save the unit, they might be there. I have tried to get it to come on since, but to no avail... It is sad...

I do have good news though... I guess my DH felt so sorry for me he went out and bought me a whole new Wii and a new Animal Crossing game! :lovestruc Today is our 26th anniversary, so he surprised me with it this morning. :cutie: We have a place in the country that we go to on weekends, so he told me we would get the old unit fixed (if it can be...) and we would take it there to play. I couldn't believe he did that! I guess he realized how much I enjoy this silly game and felt sorry for me... :upsidedow

So! Here I am, back at square one. With grass, nothing in my museum, only native fruit, no bells, a tiny house with nothing in it, but... having fun again! It was such a sweet gesture.

I do get a headache when thinking about all the work I've lost, but that will be ok, I just have to play more. :)

We are planning to contact Nintendo next week and see what the procedure is to send our old unit in for repair. I will let you know what they say and how it is done... But I hope your problem is just a fluke and you never have to send yours in...

Have you called Ninetendo?

It only cost me $89 when my Wii stopped reading all disks! they replaced the optical drive and shipped it back and I have a year warranty just like I bought a new system. All for $89

I lost all my hybrid flowers but that is it, oh and the weeds :rotfl:

Well, TxTink, I sure hope I'm not joining you soon. :sad1:

Yesterday when I tried to go to the Wii Settings screen, I got an error message that my system files are corrupted. Now THAT doesn't sound good! I can still play but can't change anything. Again, I tried to save my game data off to the memory card but it won't let me. I've read up on the issue and it sounds like my Wii will have to go back to Nintendo.

when you're up and running again, let me know, I'll send you as many Lovely pieces as I have. or if you want to start with something new (that I have), I'm more than willing to help another Dis AC player!

No power issues whatsoever around here. I was working fine one day, then no the next.

I can load and play games with no problem. All my Wii channels work fine, too. The only thing wonky is the Wii Settings screen, which won't load at all. So that's why I'm hoping that they will be able to copy off the game memory for all of our games before they do anything to the unit.

TxTink, your hubby is a great guy! If your old unit does get fixed and your game is saved, think of all of the things you can bring over to your new town! I'm on the same page as you, too. I already started storing at least 1 of every hybrid in my house. I paid off DD's basement so that we can stash some in there, and if we run out of room I'll pay off the rest of them and use their basements, too.

Thanks so much for the offer, Lois! I might take you up on it if the game can't be salvaged.

Blue.Fairy2, calling Nintendo is my next move. I just haven't had time to do it yet, maybe not until next week after the kids are back in school.

I just found this thread and it is funny how great minds think alike! I am so happy that my basement was filled with hyrids, Thank goodness!!!! because all my outdoor hybrids were lost.

I will add my AC info to my profile...I would be happy to help other DISers with any of there AC needs from fruit to furniture to turnips ;)

Thanks for the info Blue.Fairy! No, I haven't called them yet... We plan on doing that next week. It would be wonderful news if I could get my old unit fixed for $89! I really hope they can save my old game info/progress. I had done so much work since starting in January. I felt like I was king of the world in my old game! :rotfl: I had 12 million in the bank, only 3 fish left to catch and 4 bugs... Oh well... It's only a game... right? :upsidedow

:flower3: Thank you SO much! I hope, after hearing how helpful everyone on there is, my DH will let me visit other towns... He has never wanted me to venture out before... something about security. I know that it wouldn't be a problem though... And after this, I think he sees how much fun I have playing. I have been so envious of y'all that get to visit each other, I know it must really add another level of enjoyment to the game.

Your problem is a bit different than mine. Mine happened after a power outage. And everything else seems to be working with the unit (like playing other games, checking on Wii mail, weather, news and all that stuff), just Animal Crossing... The few times it has turned on, shortly I get what I call the "blue screen of death". It turns blue with Resetti on there saying there has been a failure. And that is when I can get it to load at all...

Good luck with saving your hybrids... I really think they will be able to save your game progress... But even if they can fix our units, our towns will be in awful shape! I am sad at the thought of loosing my animal friends. I still had all but 3 of my original animals. :guilty:

Yes, my DH was nice to give me another one... And IF I can restore the old one, I will LOVE getting to send all my old game stuff to my new game.

Right now I am back to the point of trying to get other fruit, coconuts and planting flowers! Remember how it was way back in the beginning??

But, it is sorta fun doing things right the first time, instead of having to figure stuff out like when I started the first time. :cool1:

I am wanting to keep as much of my grass in my new game as possible. When I started my old game, I had no idea that grass (at the time it was snow) would go away as I walked on it. Any of y'all have suggestions? Right now I am laying down tiles of a pro-pattern I made in "paths" for me to walk on. I thought I remembered reading on here a while back that people did that and it helped. If I stay on those tile paths, will the grass stay underneath them, or does that just help you contain the grass loss to those locations?

Thanks for any advice you can give!

Yes, from the "If I Knew Then What I Know Know" chapter, my "town hall", museum and gate are at the top, Nooks is at the bottom, Able Sisters a little ways down. I'd create paths to each of those, then a path to your house (and any other houses). Only walk along the edge of the rivers so you don't wear the grass away any further than necessary. Now that my paths are established, I'm starting to pull them up and have flowers along the edges of the now natural paths. I'm sure having played the game will give you an advantage in saving your grass. Getting back to perfect status will be more of a chore I'd think. But I think it might be fun starting from scratch! (but knowing more than you did the first time)

:lmao::lmao: That is so funny!

Thank you for the advice! I think I will do like you, and (as soon as I can accumulate enough flowers) line my paths with flowers as well. It will much prettier. I can't even think about getting my "perfect" town status back yet... Heck, I don't even have an ax! I can't chop down a tree to move things around. I would like to have a more "groomed" town this time... One can always hope anyway!

You guys are hilarious! :lmao: I've had the exact same thoughts over the last couple of days - if I DO have to start all over again, what would I do differentlY? First, I think I'd keep creating new towns and deleting them until I had a town layout that I liked. I had no idea there were different kinds of town gates, and I've seen others that I like better than mine. Once I had that, the first thing I'd do would be to lay out paths around the town. Only then would I start planting more trees and flowers.

As of today, all hybrids are safely stored in basements. I'm going to call Nintendo later today and go from there.

Good for you Ducie! I'm glad to hear your hybrids are safe! :thumbsup2

I do like my new town layout. I was going to switch towns until I found one I liked too, but the first one that came on had everything in a good location so I kept it. The only thing I didn't really care for was my new gate. My old gate looked like it was part of a castle, where as this one looks more like a barn.

I spent a lot of yesterday laying out paths around my town with pattern tiles, I hope that will help save my grass. I really want snow this winter!! :santa:

I am also relocating my flowers in attempt to get hybrids, although at this point any flower would do! It is slow going when you can only buy one new flower a day at Nooks! I will be glad when my store upgrades! I still can't buy trees, and although I sent letters to my animal friends, I didn't get any fruit or flowers in return. I got wallpaper and flooring, which is good but at this point I really need fruit! A coconut would be much appreciated!

As for my old game... It won't play ANY game anymore. :sad2: It use to play other games, just not AC, so it is dying more and more all the time. I hope to get it sent back to Nintendo next week.
