A mini-trip report!
We had a fantastic time! The limo arrived at 4:30. The driver, Jeff, was very nice. He took pictures for us with the digital camera and the regular camera. The limo was a lot larger than I expected. It had a row of seats behind the driver, another row along the side, and another row against the back. The side across from the seats had a bar that was stocked with pop, rum, whiskey, and vodka. Too bad we aren't drinkers! There were also 2 TV's that were on either end of the bar.
On the ceiling, there was a large, oblong black insert that had mini lights inside that kept changing colors. It was if you were looking up at the sky and watching the colored stars twinkle.
Jeff was kind enough to drive us past Logan's friend's house in our neighborhood. Logan called them on the cell phone and told them to look out their window. His friend's family came out and checked everything out for a little while, then it was off to dinner.
Dinner was at The Pittsburgh Steak Company. I have never eaten there before, but it was delicious! We had a $75 gift certificate to use, so we ordered appetizers, too. We ordered a provolone cheese wheel and a combo platter with potato skins, stuffed banana peppers, and steak and chicken chunks.
Leah got spaghetti and meatballs and a salad. Logan and I both ordered a ribeye steak and salad, and Lenny got a full rack of BBQ ribs with soup. The steak was so tender it almost melted in your mouth. I'm going to have a hard time going back to the cheaper stuff now! We debated about dessert, but we were so stuffed so we decided to pass.
We were done with dinner around 6:45, so Jeff drove us up to Mt. Washington, which overlooks the city. It is beautiful up there, especially at night. We went on the overlook and he took some pictures of us. He then drove us down past the Steeler and Pirates stadiums and took us downtown to the Benedum Center.
The Lion King was terrific! The costumes are so incredibly awesome. We had excellent seats on the floor of the theater where all of the animals come down the aisles at the beginning. Leah sat with me for the first half and then Logan sat with me for the second half. Our groups of seats were a section apart which wasn't too bad. It was a long show - 3 hours - and all of us were getting tired at the end. It was nice to walk out of the theater and get right into a warm car!
Sorry for the long post! It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
