Good morning everyone.

We got back just in time for half time yesterday so we were able to see Andrew's solo. He and another boy take turns with it. The traffic was awful and I didn't think we would make it in time. (See below.)

It's about 130 miles one way from BA to Norman......It takes me 2 hours on game day I could prolly do it in about 1 hour 45 but that's really pressing it. I'm ok with 2 hours (just don't tell the dh)
HOLY MOLEY It is 85 miles from my house to University of Maryland. It took me 1hr 40 minutes to get there (only one back up) and 2 hrs 20 minutes to get home (can't count how many backups.) UMD is inside the Washington Beltway then we have to go through one of the tunnels by Baltimore and hit Friday rush hour traffic in each city. I95 most of the way. The traffic was AWFUL. I kept saying to Sarah, "I don't think we are going to make it in time."

What saved us was the horrible football game. We were losing 20-0 when we got there so it had taken longer to play. Final score 45-7. BUT, Andrew's solo was great.

Today a band festival in the afternoon then Andrew has a party tonight. I think Sarah has plans with a friend. I have a roast in the crockpot trying out the recipe you all like. If I have time between washing Sarah's clothes, I may make an apple pie.

I don't scrapbook and you can find all my photos in 2 clear plastic shoe boxes.

Good morning!!! I headed out early to the sale at Kohl's and actually bought some clothes for me!!!! I also picked up some stuff for the exchange, i'm excited. :D

Carol - we keep our pictures as you do, yet another thing we have in common. ::yes:: Glad you made it to the game for halftime. I'm cringing a bit at your description of traffic though. When we leave on Friday we won't be on the road as early as we would be if it were our family alone, and Lew is afraid of traffic. We're hoping to be lucky in the northeast and make it to Owings Mills before the end-of-day traffic really starts but anything could happen.

Matt's at a baseball clinic right now and when he & Lew come home we're going to have my engagement ring reset! The original setting is wearing very thin and a local jewelry store is doing remounting while you wait today. I just wasn't comfortable sending the ring off and not knowing if I'd get my own stone back. I'll let you know how we make out.

LK - here's another idea to let that little darling's parents know what she did. Go over to them at the game and say something like you're glad they arrived at the right time since their DD had told Leah the game was in the morning.

We have soccer at 2:15 for EB today and another game tomorrow. Matt's done with baseball until Tuesday. I'm planning to make the famous roast tomorrow. What has everyone served with it?

Quick question about Steph's famous roast recipe....do you baste any of the soups over the meat or just let the meat sit in them?

Gail, Most of the bad traffic was south of the Baltimore beltway, 695. The Cecil County part was clear. When are you leaving Friday?

Carol, Gerri just let it sit there and and turned it over once. She also added carrots and we had it with noodles. It was so tender it broke apart with our forks.

Way to go Steph!

EDITED TO ADD: Sandy the answer was a shooting gallery....(don't ask  ) Way to go Steph! :p

Carol, you are more of my type of scrapbooker!

Buy things for the exchange? I was going to send a pile of leaves from Alabama.

I knew this would be difficult....

Congrats to Donna and Dan on a happy anniversary. I wonder which chapter they got to of Star's book. Reading is such fun!

Y'all have a great Saturday. ::yes::

Thanks Lou. (Who'd have thought a guy would be the one to respond to my cooking question.)

 Alan.

Carol, for the most part, I let the roast sit in the soup, but near the end I did spoon some of it over the roast. I was going to make potatoes with it, but my kids wanted rice. Mine was very tender, too. Isn't it funny how desparate we are all for new recipes that almost all of us have tried this roast in the last few weeks? :hyper:

I have a roasting chicken in the freezer. I think I may pull it out to cook overnight so we can have that tomorrow.

Not been doing much today... just kind of been a slug I guess.

LK, I never understood why some kids do such mean things like that! I think I might've called hte mom too, if i had been in the right mood ;)

Lars. enjoy your free time! I know I sure am with mine!

Crud, this headache came back... wonder if it is because I need to eat something though...

Carol, I am so glad you guys made it in time for Andrew's solo!

Sounds like a busy day, Bethany. Enjoy it!

Sandy, totally clueless on that riddle myself.

Gail, I totally understand about wanting to get hte stone reset while you wait. There are very few jewelry stores I trust enough to leave jewelry at (actually at the moment just one).

Okay, with y'all making roasts, does someone want to come over for dinner so I can make one? Honestly most are just way too much for just the two of us :p

LOL Alan :teeth:

I need to go do something... not sure what yet though. Just feel lazy compared to all you busy ones :p

Gosh! Eveyone is so busy today! I feel bad just sitting here with nothing to do til the Mets game comes on.... Hi Lou!!!!

Shooting gallery, huh?.....never would've got that one.......

E! Sorry about your headache......take two and call me in the morning.....just don't take them sitting in front of the computer....;)

SB! & LK!

and finally, in case I suddenly get busy on Sunday.....

Happy Anniversary to Dan and Donna.

Here's to many more....:drinking1

When the Cubs win the wild card you'll be thankful they had these games against the Mets to propel them there! :p

:rotfl:

For your information, I was sitting in front of the computer (as I stupidly keep a glass of water there at all times)... however *this* time, my monitor had gone to "sleep" so there was no reading while drinking this time. I'm learning ;)

Staying out of Lou's and Brian's conversation.

Luis is watching Kill Bill downstairs... I tried to sit through some of it, but I am far too jumpy today for that kind of a movie. I think I'll see if I can find a new winter coat on sale today... all my other ones are in sad shape and I've slowly been replacing coats each fall. I already have a leather and a down coat, but I want one that is kind of in between or better for shoveling snow than the leather... the down is way too hot for most of the winter here.

evening all,
we're unpacked and settling in nicely.....spent a fortune at the shops today buying housey things (like ironing board and a bin, never realised how much we didn't own as i've rented for so long!) also needed to stock up on cleaning materials and boring things like that.

Now have a computer table and have found the connector for the camera! going to load up some piccies of venice to show you. Unfortunately the recent piccies of my neice and nephews are on a memery card at my parents, will get it back tomorrow though.

Avoiding the sport talk....bad enough hubbies watching the footie downstairs.

Elaine - we bought the new star wars dvds today so should get through at least one tonight

For dinner tonight i'm making roast beef with caramalised onions and red wine sauce(with extra red wine bought for me!), croquette potatoes and not sure what veg, all this talk of crock pot makes me want to try it.....is it what we call a casserole over here??

Cami, this is a crock pot, also known as a slow cooker. Too bad you don't live closer or we could throw you a house warming party!

Brian, since it looks like the Pirates are no where near the playoff race, I'll cheer for the Cubs. I hate the Mets.

We went to a sneak preview of Shark Tale on Thursday evening. SB had won the tickets but couldn't go. They gave each of us a large drink and a bag of popcorn, and were also giving away posters and drink coasters. They had drawings for some gift packs but we didn't win any of those.

They are opening a Chick Fil A here next week. Leah and I just got back from Wal Mart where they were giving away free chicken sandwiches. We decided to wait until we got out of the store to get ours. It figures - they were all out of free samples by the time we left!

LK - how was Shark Tale? the trailers look good, me and hubbie think we might take our nephews to it

The movie was cute. The kids really liked it, and Lenny and I thought it was good but not great. Actually, Lenny hated the movie because one of the main characters is a shark who is a big wimp, and his name is Lenny! :hyper:

I'm home from the first trip. Whew, am I ever sleepy. I'm putting the dogs out for a minute and then I'm going to let them join me for a nap. ;) I'll check back later.

I needed to post again quickly to get away from that bad post count number! :scared:

okay, it's picture time!

Cami, love the pictures. Never been to Italy myself, so I truly enjoy these! And you have such a lovely view from your house!
I hope you enjoy watching Star Wars tonight... I was happy to watch them all again :) Right now though, we are watching college football (NC St. vs Virginia Tech... rooting for NC St. but I think they might actually lose it unless something changes). Maybe we'll get a good sundae tonight and watch a movie :)

LOL, LK nice posting to get the count different ;) Sorry you missed the Chick Fil A... that is really good stuff!

Missy, enjoy the nap ::yes::
