LK, hugs and good thoughts for your neighbors. Keep the waters away, too.

I'll say many prayers for baby David and his family. That is so sad.

LK, how deep is the water? Are you in danger of flooding, too? Send a little our way. We've been complaining that it's too dry around here.

Have fun Gail! What is Foxwoods?

No hints on the tv. Sounds almost like some sort of automatic shut-off has been triggered, but what do I know?

I don't have to pick up Amy until 5:30 unless she calls me sooner. They have play practice. Guess I should go pull something out of the freezer for supper. I'm thinking maybe I'll make tacos or ravioli.

MP, I think we will be ok, but it has crept across the road and is inching up our side yard. The water is a few feet deep in front of their garages. There is a river of water moving swiftly through their backyards. They just brought a few dump trucks of sand down the hill a little while ago.

Oh LK.........prayers for that precious baby. Having a baby in NICU is so difficult without all the added stresses that poor family is facing. Hope things turn around soon for them.

Just started raining in earnest here in NH....guess that means tonights race is rained out.

LK-I am saying some prayers for the sweet baby.

Steph I constantly have to challenge the system at g's school. I had to go to bat for him to have free rein in the library....they just don't want the other kids to feel inadequate. If I were you I’d write a nice little note asking for an exception.

oops almost forgot......have a great time GAIL!

HAPPY EARLY ANNIVERSARY!!:Pinkbounc

Gail, that sounds like fun. Maybe you should take LK and SB along? :teeth:

Hope the water stays away, LK. Mom lives across the street from a creek and it's flooded a few times. She's always been lucky, but not other houses on the street.

I forgot earlier. I'd talk to AJ's teacher. Unless she wants them to finish books more frequently for some reason (like to take a comprehension test or do a book report) this is difficult to understand. I am a teacher. You always want to encourage them to enjoy reading and push them to stretch their reading skills. If Harry Potter is a challenge and he loves it, then that's what he should be allowed to read, in my opinion. Ask why and go to bat for him if necessary. There is no reason he should be held back, just because.

Star, I went through the same thing when Amy was in early elementary school. She could read anything you put in front of her. She started reading on her own at three. She was bored to tears in Kindergarten and 1st when they wanted her to choose from beginning readers. She was reading chapter books while other kids were learning the alphabet. I'm not bragging. She just was almost born with a book in her hands. ;) I had to get them to give her special permission to check out more challenging books. Her teachers laugh that they never see her without a book in her hands.

Okay folks....I've got 2 tickets for Sunday available....plus, if you can get to Loudon before 6pm tomorrow night...I promise a lobster dinner.....

any takers???

Wow, nice gift Steph. While we could easily make it, the dogs won't let us.

Not raining down here, hope they race tonight.

Still pouring here.....looks like a doubleheader tomorrow....woohoo for those who bought tix for tomorrow.

Forgot to say earlier Marsha, sounds like a switch on the TV. Hope it's something simple.

Well.....my DH didn't listen to me when I called him at 3 and told him it is bad out and he better come home now.......sooooooo he is stuck now in town and doesnt know if he can get out tonight. Lots of roads are shut down due to flooding and it is totally gridlocked there so he is having dinner with the other people stuck there and he may try to make it to his mother's later.

sigh.....do men ever listen?

on the bright side....I didnt add on for work for tomorrow and now I can't because I dont know if he will be here with the kids. :teeth: So I have a free day tomorrow that I wasnt counting on! :hyper: :teeth:

Steph.....yum....Lobster dinner sounds good!::yes::

LK, my prayers are with your neighbors... so very sad :(

I do hope y'all in the PA area stay safe... we were lucky here and didn't get any of the terrible flooding as the storm moved east soon enough... I hope y'all don't get too much more!!!

Donna, good luck to your DH... sorry he is stuck though.

I am in the process of moving my computer. Luis was kind enough to bring the tower up for me, so I only have to do the rest :)

I hope all you Pittsburghers stay dry and safe.

Sarah just called and there are tornado warnings where she is. Not much happening here at all. Must be west of us.

breaks loose.

LK - Hope everythings okay on the block, everyones in our prayers.

Donna- Be right back, I have to go SMACK DH.

Everyone else hello.

Glad to hear Alan made it through everything okay.

Hey Gerri: Hit him twice for me, please.

I am sure I owe him several!!!!!!!!!!!::yes:: ::yes:: :hyper:

I just heard on the news that we had a record 4.99 inches of rain today. It broke Frances' record of 3.60 inches. They said that this has been the rainiest Sept ever.....but it was sunny 15/17 days this month! LOL

My back is going to be so sore tomorrow. Lenny, Logan, and I went out to help load up sandbags for the neighbors. It was nice to see everyone pitching in. We all live in split level homes, and the water in two of the homes is up to the second or third step already. I think it is starting to recede, though.

One neighbor had his shed swept away, a few have lost parts of their fences, one outdoor bar ended up six houses away. We made some soup and took it over, too.

LK - so sorry to hear about David. i will definitely say some prayers for him. hope all your neighbors recover from the rain.

Gail - have a great time tonight and I'm sending some luck your way! I like the way MP thinks - that I should come along too!

Steph - i agree w/ everyone else and say talk to that teacher about the problem.

Carol - i hope Sarah is o.k. if she goes to the game tomorrow.

Alan - stay safe and don't work too hard.

We had a little flooding in our garage and some rain came in in the one half of our basement. i mopped up 3 buckets of water and DH put the fan on to dry some out. a couple of our neighbors had 3 feet of water in their basements. our pool is overflowing and the backyard looks flooded too.:( i hate cleaning up.
