Star, I went through the same thing when Amy was in early elementary school. She could read anything you put in front of her. She started reading on her own at three. She was bored to tears in Kindergarten and 1st when they wanted her to choose from beginning readers. She was reading chapter books while other kids were learning the alphabet. I'm not bragging. She just was almost born with a book in her hands. ;) I had to get them to give her special permission to check out more challenging books. Her teachers laugh that they never see her without a book in her hands.

Wow MP it's exactly the same... g taught himself to read when he was 3 and 1st grade isn't at all challenging for him. Btw I won the library battle but I lost the battle on letting him read harry potter "at" school. His teacher doesn't think he's mature enough. Needless to say, mom disagrees so he reads it at home, he's currently on chap 14 of Goblet of Fire. He tends to juggle several books at a time instead of one at a time. The pace is slower but he retains them so I figure I’d let him…Do you think I should encourage one at a time??

I’m sorry for all of those experiencing bad weather, I hope you see sunny days soon!!

LOL Steph that was off the hook

Those little guys just died off

I wouldn’t want a face off with that mad penguin

I think I’d rather get laid off

Then maybe I could act in an off Broadway play

Which if televised would cause everyone to switch off their TV’s

Then I would expect getting the brush off from my friends and family

Which might drive me mentally off center?

Or give me time to goof off

Or perhaps write a spin off

That just might lift off

But that’s all I've got off the cuff

DH is off work now so I’d better get off my laptop and then um yeah lol I’ll leave the _____to fill ;)

Star, sounds like they have a lot in common. Amy juggles several books at one time. This irritated me when she was younger. She'd have a different book in each room, but she was following the content of each of them. I was taught that if they can retain the content and keep up with the stories it's okay. In fact, I was once told that many intelligent people have this habit. Something about staying interested. Who knew? I'm doing good to have one or maybe two books (if one isn't too interesting) going at once. I'd be confusing all the characters. Obviously Amy didn't get this from me.

I am an avid reader and always have been I devoured books, read them in as little time as possible (still do) so this very lax way of reading didn't come from me either!! lol

Good morning everyone.

I am off to Baltimore for a continuing education. Then I am spending the night with my mom because the class continues tomorrow.

I'll be back sometime Sunday afternoon or evening. And I will know everything I need to know about Medicare compilance.

 be good.

Morning all... this cold thing seems to be back worse than it was yesterday... blech
I hope to stop by a couple stores today to get some small things (unfortunately they are no where near each other) and then relax a little at home. I think Luis invited people over for the game... I'lll happily keep myself busy upstairs while they do that, and come down for football I can handle ;)

Star, you just made me feel worlds better about the IM thing :teeth: and I loved your post following!

Missy, I read a lot like Amy does as well. I have 3 or 4 books going (maybe only 3 as I just finished one) and I like doing that so I can read something that fits my mood :teeth:

Carol, I hope you enjoy your weekend at the class!

Morning Everyone,
Looks like soccer will be rained out this morning.
DH and Patrick have left for Hunter Safety. The rest of us are making yummy banana bread for breakfast.......who wants some??

Good Morning!
The sun is out here....thank goodness.
We are still in state of emergency around here with lots of people without power.
Dan was able to get home last night about 10 but several roads were closed and he had to detour around a lot.

I think our rain total was something like 6.5 inches for the day yesterday. Some places got more!

Thankfully, I live at the top of a hill, so no flooding here.

Steph........Banana bread sounds yummy ( I dont like bananas but I like banana bread)......are you in warm comfort food mode again?

Donna, I am the opposite of you... I love bananas but don't like banana bread.

Gail, glad you guys had a good time last night... sorry you didn't need it.

Luis just got up... should spend some time wth him before I head out.

Hmmm... been kind of busy lately, but I suppose especially since Luis is watching ESPN at the moment, I could pencil in some time to try to stalk him ;)
