Good Morning

Nothing exciting going on here in Michigan today.........gotta run to the grocery to pick up ingredients for an appetizer that I need to make to take to the Euchre party tonight.........I got a few ideas from Steph last night but if anyone else has any good EASY appetizer recipes I'd appreciate it if you'd share them with me.

Morning!

It's overcast and drizzling here today, we missed the nasty weather NY and NJ got yesterday. Warning - long post ahead. Leave now if you want to.

Today is Field Day for Matt's baseball league. It's replacing the annual banquet. The banquet was expensive and the food not great so they decided to replace it with this, being held at the league field and no admission charge. They've also added trophies to all the younger players, which is a nice touch. Formerly, only the division leaders would earn a trophy.

It is a good idea, with one exception. At the banquet the entire league could be included at once - T-ball through Majors and also the Challenger league. It was fun to see the little guys watch the older kids, you know "I want to be like them when I get bigger." Now it's divided by playing divisions and held over 2 weekends so we'll only see the Majors - including Coach Richard and Boy Wonder. I'm sure Mama B. will also be there.

There could be some great amusement if Coach R. is in the dunk tank. Lew's already said he'll pay big bucks to dunk him! One possible sore spot is a special sportsmanship award that the coaches vote on. It's supposed to go to the kid who might not be the best player, but he's the best team member. I can't possibly see how Boy Wonder would even be eligible, the kid snubbed an entire team (and of course he is the best athlete there!) There are much more deserving players, but I suppose it could happen.

Oh Lars, Luis mentioned another option for you... buy a bunch of lunchables, open them up and put them on a platter

Seriously though, I am a huge lover of havarti cheese and love it when I go to Dawn's because she almost always serves it... just cuts it up and has crackers sitting on a platter. My favorite!!

Great, now Gwen is in my suitcase too... guess they don't want me to go

I have several good dip recipes, a couple of cheese ball recipes, and some tortilla pinwheel recipes. After that, my appetizer recipes are all little smokies in BBQ sauce and stuff like that. If any of that sounds like what you are looking for let me know.

Gail, hope you get a picture if he's in the dunk tank. I hope Boy Wonder gets only what he deserves.

Morning Everyone!

Lars - I have 2 easy ones that come to mind: put a block of cream cheese on a plate, cover w/ a can of crab meat, then put some cocktail sauce on top - serve w/ crackers. Another is, Mix 1 can of chicken, 1 Tbsp of mayo, 1 Tbsp of soy sauce, and a block of cream cheese. Refrig for a couple of hours and serve w/ crackers. Yum!

DH is done taking the pool apart. His brother and a couple of guys he works w/ are coming over to help. Fingers crossed. Tonight, I am going to the Pirates game w/ a couple of friends from high school. I heard from the crazy campers this morning. LK is looking forward to coming home today, and Donna is not looking forward to her leaving!

Lars - I also have an easy dip recipe that I can contribute. Mix together 2 cans of Underwood Deviled Ham and 2 8 oz. packages of non-fat cream cheese (softened). Add mustard to taste, spread in serving bowl, top with paprica refrigerate for a few hours. We like it with Triscuit Thins but any cracker is great.

Hope news is good for your uncle Merry.

Good luck with the pool SB. It's probably best that you're leaving the house during the repair work.

If you are willing to cut up some fruit, nothing beats mixing a block of softened cream cheese with a jar of marshmallow cream. You can add a bit of cinnamon if desired, but plain is so good that you want to eat it with a spoon! I send it to the school parties sometimes and it's always GONE!

Afternoon all... mostly all packed here. I might go out and run a couple errands, take a nap, go to church and then more or less call it a day.

The cats are making it hard to do things today. They know someone is leaving because of the suitcases and are being extra cuddly today because of it.

I came back from the market with Mount Ranier cherries, a Rush Springs black diamond watermelon, Stratford peaches, apricots, tomatoes, cucumbers, and okra. Mmmmmmm!

MP - did you eat all the tomatoes you bought the last time?! I make that cream cheese and marshmallow cream dip too. I'm really getting hungry!

Pool update: The parts are laying all over the yard. The ground is too muddy to do anymore work. DH thinks he might call the pool people to do the installation this time. When he talked to them today, they said they are on schedule, and could come out in 10-14 days. Maybe I'll get to swim next year..........

I'm baaaaaack! (Or should I say....I escaped!)

Donna had tears in her eyes when I was leaving. She couldn't convince her kids to leave today. She even tried throwing catnip in her van, but they didn't chase after it.

Leah and I had a great time. She wanted to stay longer, too.

For the record, I DID NOT eat any bugs!!! It was the box of donuts that had little bugs crawling over it. My particular donut did not have anything crawling on it. I even blew it off carefully before I ate it. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Lou - thanks for keeping us entertained during the torrential downpour. As Lou can testify, we were laughing so hard he could barely understand us.
