Well we got back home last night aat about 9:30 p.m. We had a magical time. It was very hot:eek: and humid:eek:. The high's were in the mid 90's and lows were in the mid 70's. Heat index was around 100 degrees with the humidity.

One of the volunteers at GKTW said when we were checking out that the heat started Monday the week we arrived. (we arrive Sunday afternoon in a rainstorm).

GKTW was awesome, the kids loved it and really hated to leave.

I will try to update more later on today.

Diane

Wow...that is hot for June!

It is unusually hot here in MS today, too. We hit 100F yesterday at a local school with a heat index of 113F. You gotta love MS. :sad2:

I am so glad you guys had a magical trip!!! I can't wait to hear about it, but I know you probably have plenty to do having just returned!

I am glad you had a great time!! :goodvibes

Here we go lets see if we can remember everything.:lmao::rotfl2:

Day 1 :cheer2:

Our limo was supposed to arrive at 4:30 a.m. Well Mike our driver called at 4:05 a.m. and said he was around the corner and would be there in about 5 minutes. What, we are not ready yet and my parents aren’t here yet. Well he will have to wait.

Well we get in the limo at about 4:20 a.m. and head to the airport. The kids liked the limo. We get to the airport and check in and then we go through security (which went smoothly). We then waited for our plane to start boarding. I was a little nervous about the kids and their first plane ride.

The kids do great, Andrea was really scared until we were in the air then she calmed down. We landed in Detroit and had a layover and then got on our next flight headed for ORLANDO!!! The kids and I got to meet the Pilot Captain John and see the cockpit of our plane. The kids couldn’t believe all the buttons. We are on our way Mickey. See you soon.

We land in a rain storm and found our GKTW greeter Rae. Rae :love:was a very nice lady and helped us to our rental van. We get our rental van and head for the GKTW village. We drive through some areas of very heavy rain and arrive at the village it wasn’t raining.

We get the magical place and go inside the House of Hearts to check in. Andrea gets a Mickey Mouse stuffed animal and Matt gets a Shamu. Matt wanted the Mickey and Andrea wanted the Shamu so they traded. We get our welcome packet and are shown our Villa. We put our luggage in the Villa and head for Katie’s Kitchen and order lunch. The adults had lunch and the kids had ice cream for lunch. We go exploring around GKTW village, the kids were in awe of the cool buildings.

They had an orientation at 4:00 p.m. that my husband went to, Andrea had a makeover appt. at downtown Disney at 6:00 p.m. Orientation went over an hour so we cancelled Andrea’s appt. and stayed in the Village to get settled and have a yummy dinner, the kids made their wish pillows, and Andrea decorated her star.

Andrea, Grandpa and Grandma &I head to the Candy land party at the playground. We then go back to the Villa and get my dh and ds and head to the Ice Cream Parlor. After ice cream we go back to the villa and plan our next day. We plan on going to Magic Kingdom. Time for bed, I was surprised we all stayed up as late as did because we were all up so early.

Stay tuned for Day 2 – What will we do and where will we go??

Diane

I will add pictures soon - they are still downloading.

Great start to your trip report. I am glad your family made it home safely! :wizard:

Awesome start!

I love the fact that you guys got to see the cockpit! That is super cool!

And that the rain stopped before you got to GKTW. There is a little pixie dust!

Did you just love the Candyland party? I would love to go see that one day!

Gosh...sounds like you guys had a change of plans, maybe? :rolleyes1

Since we had to cancel Andrea's Princess Makeover we decided to let her get some pampering at the spa in the Village. She got a dog tattoo and had her fingernails done. Matt and I enjoyed the massage chairs at the spa. Andrea talked Grandpa into getting a tattoo also. She is Grandpa's little girl.

What awesome pictures!!

I miss GKTW so much!

It looks like they enjoyed the Candyland Playground! I love that playground.

More, more, more! :thumbsup2

Well first of all the kids were up later than normal and up early (Sunday morning) we thought they might sleep in some. Boy were we suprised Matt was up before 6:00 a.m. and Andrea was up shortly after 6:00 a.m. Matt watched some cartoons and Andrea and Grandpa sat on the porch.

Once we were all ready we headed for the Disney Character meet and greet. We got to see Mary Poppins, Goofy, and Pluto. We got pictures of Andrea and the characters, but Matt didn't want anything to do with them. He got a little scared and overwhelmed. Goofy saw that Matt was upset and went over to him and my dh. Goofy tried to comfort him, then Matt wasn't too upset anymore. Unfortunately, we saw just the end the interaction and had no time for pictures. We got our pictures taken with Mickey and Minnie at the movie theater. Matt didn't want his picture taken with them, but they waved to Matt in the theater.

Then we go and have a very yummy breakfast, Andrea liked the wonderful service at the Gingerbread house.

We go back to the Villa and pack our backpack and fannypack. So where do you think we are headed Magic Kingdom or Universal Studios. Any guesses

more to come.....

Diane

I love all the pics! The one with DH and Matt was so sweet. I love capturing moments like that! I am so thankful you are doing your TR. I think I have read every other one on the boards and needed a fix before our trip in 5 days :)
I notice your ticker counts down until your daughter's 9th birthday. Sam's 9th birthday is August 23...am I calculating correctly? Is that your DD's birthday, too??
Great start to the TR! You have me motivated to start packing!!
