Although i am no worthy competition to the daily Italian posts from Shushh :lovestruc (and how cute are those mickey shoes for jonah?!) - i thought perhaps you may be interested in some video of Fort Wilderness and the outrageous decorations put up by the guests. :santa:
yes - the guests.
I know some of these guys will live at FW for several months over the season but it is pretty OTT. :3dglasses
I hope you enjoy - after all - if it wasn't for the DIS I would never have known.

Silent Night - not

Wow! Thanks for that. I loooove Christmas lights and would loved to have seen all that in person.

Love it. So interesting.
I have to say, renting one of those campers that gets delivered to the site for you, really kind of appeals to me. Maybe one day :-)

You can have the camp spot next to the fairy light overkill person. I insist.

Ahahaha. I'd probably have that Xmas tune stuck in my head for months.

Can you imagine lugging all that stuff with you on holidays?

Have you seen the size of some of those American RVs though. They're as big as a small house. What I can't understand is wanting to spend so many hours/days of your precious holiday time setting the whole lot up and then bringing it all down again. Whatever makes you happy I suppose...

Oh that modern rock version of the nutcracker .... heavily used at the Osbourne Lights too. There is NO ESCAPE! :rotfl2:

Zanzibar - I believe that many of the regular long term stayers use that purple storage locker facility to keep most of their gear for the other 9 months.

but YIKES - heaving all that stuff out, setting it up, and then packing it away again AND they do both Halloween and then Christmas - double the decorations :scared1:
Imagine the electricity usage spike Disney must have!

Wanderlust - I was surprised I spotted so many rentals there - but it is a great idea when you have a family of 5 +. And you can get those HUGE fancy ones with everything ready to go - incl golf cart.

I'm no caravan-er but these FW campers do it with style! :cool1:

We saw all this last Christmas 2011 when we were on the bus that took us to Mickey's Backyard BBQ it was awesome. I was so suprised at how many people get into the lights and decoration thing. It's awesome. I just wish we could get the Disney Inflatables in OZ

I am still gobsmacked that this is at a campground! They must need oodles of extension leads and power boards? how many sockets would you get at the campground there? and the cost of the electricity-wow!! Still if we make it back to WDW at Xmas this is a must do now-it really is kind of cool!!

I found this photo - the site seems to have 2 big ol' specialist plugs I assume for the trailer/RV and then 4 normal.
I've never used one of those blow up w lights decoration things but I suspect they run off batteries - i do have a string of christmas lights which is battery powered. Still - you can probably see it from space. :rotfl2:

If you take a really long coaxial cable you can plug into the cable TV!

I browsed through your links and was completely charmed. We're only a family of three, but you can get those massive campers that sleep about 8 and they hook everything up for you - electricity, water, sewerage, even cable TV. It's certainly not camping as I ever knew it.
The only problem is that once you get the site, camper and golf cart, it seems like it would all cost about as much as a discounted deluxe resort - not cheap.

Yet having all that space, being surrounded by trees, cooking BBQs outside for tea, and still having all of life's creature comforts, really appeals to me. If, after my trip this year, my family ever decide to return to WDW, I'm going to put luxury camping on our wishlist. :-)

Oh my goodness! I can't compete with that!!! :rotfl2:

I kinda like how the folks there go all out! Although I can't imagine wanting to lug all that stuff around even if I did have space for it...

With the shoes...we were actually shoe shopping for Elliot. And the poor boy was so sad that his feet were 1 size too big for the model and that his brother got a pair instead. He loved the shoes :(

Wow-thanks for the info. Yes-you can tell I don't have a blow up one either-but I keep promising myself one (non holiday!!!!) year I will get 3 of the deer that are popular-they would look so good in our yard under the tree.

You've now made me go on eBay and look at buying a few Disney inflatables!! After this Christmas where we only had a few house lights and an inflatable Santa, I had decided we needed to up the effort for next year. I've ordered some netting lights for the hedge, and will soon be ordering my Disney Inflatables!

I debated buying them when we're in the US in May (we have a total of 184kg baggage allowance home:rolleyes1), but am worried there won't be any in stores in May.

We also may have exceeded our allowance on all my shopping:rotfl2:

Hmmm ... Aussie Shaz ... welcome to the boards and most of the ladies here can teach you everything you want to know about baggage limits; breaking the budget; shipping to the resort and multiple suitcase wrangling! :goodvibes

Whilst i am here - I have whacked up some resort gingerbread houses photos now. Sorry - Disney restraint makes this a more sedate post.

I never thought i would say disney was restrained - but they are compared to the Fort Fiends!! :lmao:

gingy bread, gingy bread, gingy bread rock....

Hmmmm. I think I'll stick with the Disney inflatables and leave the Gingerbread houses to others:santa:
