Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites Review

I had my TA book the Desert Inn and Suites for our trip. We booked the C1 Suite with the 4 queen beds and 1 1/2 bathrooms. Wow we will each have our own bed!

Anyone know where these rooms are located in the building?

I'm so excited for this thread!! DH and I are going with some family friends to DL in Oct and there are SEVEN of us! We're looking at the family suite at this hotel, and I'm loving the reviews so far!

Also seems like location can't be beat!

What about the cont. breakfast? Is it even worth it?

Sounds like they don't have much, but even with the almost $150 we save over the one room at BWPPI we can use that $ to buy some things. The room has a fridge and microwave. I can live with cereal and coffee for breakfast. That's what I normally have anyway. Now that we are taking my niece's this year we plan on some PB sandwiches for lunch. Not so many CS or TS meals.

How crowded is it at breakfast time? I know at BWPPI it gets busy and hard to find a table.

The breakfast is bare bones but good enough for my fam. When we didn't feel like what they had we just grabbed some of their milk and had something from the room. Get there EARLY and take your stuff back to your room. Send whoever is all ready to go down for everyone.

DI&S is definitely on my short list, but I've heard a few negative comments about the parking. Anyone want to share your parking experience? We usually bring a rented minivan.

Happy to see this thread too! We(being me, my husband, our two boys and my mom) are first time visitors, coming in May. We had originally booked two rooms at Park Vue Inn, but just switched over to Desert Inn after reading about how bad Park Vue is. We booked the C2 room for the five of us, and saved a ton of money over the two rooms at PVI.

Is there somewhere within walking distance where we can get groceries?

I know there was a grocery store nearby in 2007 as I purchased some Lactaid Milk for my lactose intollerant niece. Didn't look last year if it was still there. I thought prices were reasonable as I know Lactaid milk here is about $4 for a 2L size.

Nice to know we can take it back and eat it. It will save a lot of time in the morning.

Parking.
When we arrived on a Monday night about 7:30pm, there were no parking places on the ground level and the parking attendant said they had to valet park our van in the garage (not too keen on this idea). But the parking attendant said we could park for a few minutes to unload by the elevators. It took us a good 20-30 minutes by the time we checked the room for bugs-then brought the kids/a few bags up-then the luggage carrier up with the rest of our luggage. By that time, there was a parking place come open on the ground level, so my husband took it. WE stayed parked until Friday afternoon when we went to the beach/to visit friends. When we returned 8:30pm we were concerned there wouldn't be a spot on ground level, but sure enough there were atleast 3 open.

So...we never had to have them park our vehicle underground. And if there isn't a spot, wait a few minutes and there might be one opening up. =)

I would stay in the room with 2 year old and put jammies away and clean up bedding/couch and get myself ready....while hubby took the younger 4 kids down to eat. Then they would bring up orange juice a danish and fruit for me and 2 year old.

They had about 4 or 5 booth-like tables inside and a few tables and chairs outside.

This is funny because when we were there the underground they had us park in ourselves..and the upper level is where they valet..so they could double and triple park! Super interesting that it changes! I hated parking it in the garage. Totally small *shudder* LOL

Does anyone know if both doors to the outside work in a C1 Family Suite? The floor plan has only one door opening (not the one I would choose) and the photo shows a door on the room I would choose to have the door. Or do they have some of each?

My mom and I were thinking of putting the kids in one room (without a door that opens to the outside) and us sleeping in the other. That way we can stay up and watch TV after they fall asleep.

I would like to know the answer to this too as my family is staying there in the same type of room next week!

It only has the one door. We put ourselves (DH, Myself, three kids) in the other side (non door side) and would put the kids to bed and go watch tv with my mom and brother in the side with the door.

HTH!

You can order Vons and they deliver for free for your first online order! It's really simple to use!

We have 5 kids too!! Five girls and my youngest is 2 and that is exactly how we do it too!! :) LOL! What are your ages?

Can anyone tell me if there are safes in the rooms, couldn't find any mention of it on the website?

I called them and asked. They said each room has a safe. It has a four digit lock you program. They felt a small laptop would fit.

Yes, that is correct. We have been able to fit two 14-15" laptops in there (along with some smaller stuff). I doubt you would be able to fit more than 2 laptops, though - as you have to tilt them on their sides to get them in.

Their maids were super awesome too. The one who did our room folded up the kid's blankets neatly on the edge of the bed for us every day <3 It's the little things for me LOL
