An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

Is an alcoholic beverage from each country considered a souvenir? Maybe the hangover the next day would be considered one? :drinking1

I think it would be hard to get a (quality) souvenir from each country for a cheap price. This threw me for a loop Ms. I don't want to shop in WDW. LOL :lmao:

That's a whole series coming up in itself. But not all my partakings will be in World Showcase- only 3.

OK, I admit, this was probably a gigantic surprise to some of you. But here's the deal. What else is there to do in WS?? My snacks are already chosen and there's only like one attraction in each country- if even that. So it stands to reason that a fair amount of browsing shall ensue. :lmao: Right??

And I do love a challenge. I think this can be done! Even if its the smallest little thing, like a postcard with a CMs signature. :confused3 But you are right--- quality will be the operative word here.

:rotfl: I think it would count if you took pics while loopy to document it! :rotfl:

You KNOW there's going to be some of that!! Jordan's not the only one who can participate in goofy behavior and photograph it. ;)

He sure would! I saw he's having him some fun over there! That picture of him behind Blue was pretty funny. Too bad, though, it looks like at least one of his TL days as rained out. :headache:

Oh, a missed TL day? How sad. :sad2: Maybe he went to DQ. I know he was going to spend a little less time with Matt at ESPN this trip....:rolleyes1

Morning! I actually slept! I think I went to bed around 1 but I fell asleep on the couch around 11 from a sleeping pill induced comma.

I'm hoping the over the counter stuff if taken for about a week at the same time every evening will do the trick. You don't think I'll get addicted to it, do you?

Camille, I'm glad you got some sleep. It is possible to get dependant on the sleep aids. There are some herbal ones available that are very helpful and don't have as much addiction risks. DH has been dealing with the same thing. I'm going to get some of those herbals out for him.

No, there really doesn't have to be a theme at all. Just something that will remind me of our time there, and help to transport me quickly back to our special time together.

I am pretty sure they all sell pins and magnets, but I think I'd rather have a variety of items that I might use or see everyday, all around the house.

I'd rather not get consumable things like candy- that'll disappear in a short time, then I'd have nothing. We've already discussed the merits of saving candy wrappers :lmao:. So I woudn't do that, no matter where they are from. :rotfl2::dance3:

Anyway, I think it can be done. And I think we're going to have a great time trying to meet this challenge!! :rotfl:

I know what you mean. I tend to go for souvenirs that are everyday things that just REMIND me of my trip - not necessarily scream out "Disney." Although, I do have some of those, too.;)

Exactly what I was thinking!!! Seriously, other than sitting on a shelf somewhere, there's not a lot of use, and what I buy, I really do want to use. The new house has a bar cupboard with glass shelving, that I really hope to have nicely set up and use. We don't drink a lot at all, but it will be nice to have everything ready for guests or summer bbqs or for a hot winter drink, or the right glass for a blended something. I can see us actually using the swizzles. ;)

We don't either (the hard stuff anyway lol), about the only time we use swizzle sticks is during the winter and I do have a cute set of reindeer ones. But on the rare occasion, during other times of year, that we do have a mixed drink or are making one for a guest...the reindeers seem a little lame!

It's fun to have those things around even if you don't use them all that much.

Right up there with the little charms to dangle on the wine glasses so people don't get their drinks mixed up.

ESPN? We'll see on that one....

Giving the herbal ones a try is a great idea! We don't want you to end up worse off, Camille!!

That's exactly it! Something I just use anyway, and will say, "Hey, I remember the time when..."

No, reindeer wouldn't do at all at say, 4th of July! :lmao: I like the wine glass charms too. But have never bought a set. Hmmm.... France??

So, any more takers on suggesting a name for Potato Head??

Snacking, drinking, hitting a few rides, people watching, browsing, catching a few shows or performers. That should take up quite some time in the WS.

So, any more takers on suggesting a name for Potato Head??

I thought you found a name. Now I have to go back to see what I thought it was. :confused3

Do you think I should stick with Tate O'Patty?

I really like that one a lot! Maybe I should make him/her a little vest with a LGMH on the back with his/her name on it?? :lmao: To wear to the World.

love the souvenier idea! I love those pepper swizzle sticks (or Stirrers if your from RI)

I like that name... I think there was one other too. I can't find it though.

You NEED to do the vest. You might have to rent a stroller for TOP too! :rotfl::rotfl:

I really love the idea of the small souvenirs around WS which can be used regularly. I was thinking of of anything that came into mind from Germany and I am afraid, I did not really see anything there... Japan, France and UK won't be a problem at all, I am sure!! :goodvibes

Did your DH get back safely? Or is he still travelling? I think his return must have included one of those train journeys?? I once travelled from Moskow to St Petersburg by train with a Russian friend in 1994 and that was a similar set up. But I was at that time rather impressed with how clean the train was.

A STROLLER?!! Might I remind you of exactly what this trip is meant to get AWAY from??!! :lmao: No strollers, no diapers, no kidcot stops. :rotfl2:

Besides, if TOP is old enough to know about cross-dressing, he is old enough to swing the trip w/o a stroller. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Stir sticks actually

:goodvibes

Bingo!

YUP! DH got home fine, last night. He went to bed around 8:00 so tired. No train this time. He got a direct flight from the capital which was very nice!

Let me just say, that in our experience, the ethnic Russians are far cleaner than our host culture locals. Most ex-pats hire Russian ladies to do housekeeping if they don't care about learning Blankastani.

Yeah, I've been thinking long and hard on my German souvie, but as of right now, still have a big ??? next to it. :confused3 I still have a little bit, as Norway, and China are still before Alemande. ;)

I am back Liessa !!!

You're back! You're back! You're back! You're back!! Oops! I think I just leaked a little... :cheer2:

Oh boy, I can't wait to read all about it!!

As you can see, we've been having a ton of fun here!! Do hope you'll be here often, and post with all of us sillies. :dance3:

Welcome home to your DH, I bet the kids and yourself are thrilled to have him back!

Germany....a mini Nutcracker ornament or one of the mini ceramic beer steins. Those steins are amazing (assuming they have them?) and can be a cute pencil holder!

Then again, there always is....

LIEDERHOSEN!

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Be careful. Be VERY careful. I might just have to take a picture of Tate O'Patty, myself and Arm Flab in some skimpy Liederhosen and scare all the little children away- they will be begging for mercy, and have nightmares of EPCOT forever more. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Update coming up.
