An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Be careful. Be VERY careful. I might just have to take a picture of Tate O'Patty, myself and Arm Flab in some skimpy Liederhosen and scare all the little children away- they will be begging for mercy, and have nightmares of EPCOT forever more. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Update coming up.

Tate O'Patty needs a kilt.

Tate O'Patty needs a kilt.

OMG! Would it be too funny to get his picture with Off Kilter?? I"m laughing so hard now even just thinking about it!!! :lmao:

Maybe even a belly dancing get up for Mo'Rockin!! :confused3:rotfl2:

This could be VERY, VERY fun!!!

Awww, a pwetty pwincess... :lmao: I've never made little clothes before, but am willing to give it a try. They will probably turn out pretty crude (ummm, the first definition in Websters, not the second) and rudimentary, but it would be very funny!

How about SPUD HEAD!!!!:lmao: That's english slang !!!!:lmao:

Liessa what are your dates for WDW!!!!?????

I think I'll stick with Tate O'Patty. I ran it by him/her and it really loves that name. Now onto a wardrobe. :rolleyes1

To be very, very honest. I don't know yet. I'd imagine by next week, or the week after, I"ll know. DH just returned last night from 3 weeks in the States (remember his mother passed away), and we have so, so much to talk about, including our schedule for returning. It's a rather large load of decisions, and unfortunately the trip is not the heaviest of them.

Don't worry, though, it will either be: Sept. 5-13th OR Sept. 30-Oct.??

I am leaning towards pushing it back to the later, but more on that later. ;)

Ummmm, Rosie, are you thinking of going again?? Would you like to join the Belle Battalion??

Time to amble on clockwise, in our virtual shopping tour of EPCOT's World Showcase. After scouring Mexico for some chili pepper Stir Sticks (need to get my regional lingo on), we come to the quaint Norsk seaside village brimming with trolls and expensive stuff. Seriously, how can a sweater cost $600??!! :scared1: Since I am trying to keep this scavenger hunt of sorts to a $4-5 range, I guess a sweater is out. :confused3 So, what do you think I can find there that screams Norway??

Let me be very honest. I really don't care for trolls. They remind me of Jr. High School. Not that Junior High was all that bad (first kiss, getting selected to be drum major, pizzas at THE hang out after school, you know)
But, I'm looking for something a little more grown up. More, I don't know, I really can't put my finger on it, and don't have the words. I'm sure a lot of you like trolls, and that's all well and good, but it's just not for this trip.

I guess when I think of Norway, I think of lefsa, pickled herring, and Vikings. None of which I can bring home. Fish, like company, stinks after 3 days, and I'm already married. So, what's left?

Well, there is Laila perfume. VERY Norwegian! Here's what the Laila website itself says:

An exhilarating blend of natural oils, Laila is an infusion of Norwegian mountain wildflowers with just a touch of fruit inflections including watermelon. With no synthetic additives, it mixes with the skin's own oils to remain fresh all day without turning or fading.

Price: $53.00 1.7 ounces

Ummmm... no thanks.

Do you think they have free testers??

Now, my MIL that just passed away had a favorite store in Salem, Oregon called Negstaads. It was a Norwegian import store that sold, well, duh, everything Norwegian. Food stuff, wool linens, flags, pictures, AND the most gorgeous wooden carved and woven straw Christmas ornaments. I read on that shopping link I posted last time that the shops in EPCOT have these and they aren't too expensive. For around $3 they have the straw ornaments in the shapes of reindeer, pine cones, Santas, etc...

Since I really want to use and see my little treasures all year long, I will steer clear of anything too Christmassy and get something a little more versatile. I can totally see it hanging in my new kitchen near where I do dishes.

There you have it. Another something to look forward to in my EPCOT Around the World Shopping Quest. :goodvibes

Glad your husband made it home safely and just in time for Valentine's Day.

Awwwww, thanks, Carissa!! I hadn't thought of that! There's really not anything special to do over here, so we've not celebrated it in over 10 years. Next year, though!! :thumbsup2

First kiss in junior high? Floozie!

I have no idea what to suggest on this shops of the World Showcase quest.

I've never heard of Norwegian perfume. I'm sure it's fine, but for some reason it brings to mind thoughts of reindeer musk and B.O.

I was!! :lmao: :rolleyes1 It was that hot percussion section. Oh wait, technically, I was part of that! :rotfl2:

Well, then you'll get some good ideas right here for your next foray into shopping nirvana.

It really is a lovely scent! But you are right.... musk and hygiene issues. My BIL is full-blooded Norsk, and well, let's just say he needs to shower at least once a day. ;) He's a great soccor coach though. :confused3

We haven't done anything special for Valentine's Day in that long either. Usually exchange cards, maybe flowers, and occassionally I'll make a special dinner. I did hear I may be getting a special delivery on Saturday. :rolleyes1

:rotfl: I kissed boys on the cheek (after chasing them and pinning them to the ground) back in kindergarten/first grade. But, my first real kiss wasn't until I was 16.

I love your souvie idea for Norway!! Perfect! :thumbsup2

Sounds like it's time to hear about everyone's first kiss... popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

I'm not about to air all my dirty laundry here. :laundy:

I haven't the foggiest idea of the what little trinkets you can find in Norway. :confused3 I've tried to keep my DW out of as many stores as possible. A real 'Kim Possible' mission is walking out of Epcot with money still in my pocket. :rotfl:

HA, ok, fair enough, but I'll say mine was a rather small kiss on the cheek!! Not too dirty-laudry-ish. :rotfl:

Are you sure it's not YOU spending all the money, though. A beer here, a school bread there, a little something for Ana over there...

I am planning on Sept 8th thru 16th !!! Finances may be an issue so I want to go during Free Dining !! So Once that is official I can be sure !! I will prolly book those dates soon and PRAY for Free dining !!!! I don't recall anything in Norway other than Trolls and Horned Helmets which were more thsan $3 !!!!!:lmao:

Ummmmm..... OK I guess you caught me. It is both of us spending money. I still can't believe it when I walk out of there with money. :rolleyes1

Believe me, I KNOW!! Remember that jaunt into MouseGears on our first trip. $125 for a few sweatshirts. :scared1 Unbelievable!

I use that smilie when I have to sign off because of work that needs doing.

(I should probably use it more often....) :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Woohoo, finally got on and all caught up! So awesome your son was able to get a full ride, Liesa, I can't remember if we chatted about that on the phone, but I don't think we did.

I love the name Tate O'Patty...reminds me of a hashbrown! I also really love the pressed penny thing, we're going to be doing that as well..the best pennies are supposed to be the pre-1982 ones. I've been able to find some, but not as many as you'd think! I need to do some more digging now that we're home. I've also read you can get them on e-bay relatively cheap, but I haven't looked yet. Souvenirs around the globe sounds neat too. I'm glad your DH is home, hopefully you'll have some decisions made soon so you can firm up your planning, and have one less thing to stress about. Thank you again for the phone calls while Piper was admitted, I really enjoyed them, and it meant a lot hearing from you! :lovestruc Now to get back on my own PTR!
