An Inconvenient Truth...

They? I know, imagine states tracking average temps like that and making the info available for ANYONE to access. That has to be fake info.....well, you sold me, if gore says it, it has to be real......:rotfl:

My guess is that they don't acknowledge "real research" because it's conducted by those lefty, liberal academic/intellectuals.

Hey, if you dont want to go look at facts, its ok with me. Going through life with you eyes closed is your option. Going to an official state website with official (not politically motivated) facts about official averge temps that have been officially (sorry about the over use if officially) document and verified by NOAA tells me, its scientific fact!!!

and you have the knowledge to interpretate this small amount of raw data better than all the UN scientists.

Andy, its more along the lines of common sense. Have you ever seen the charts of how the stock market does on a daily basis....up and down, its easy to follow. If you see average temps staying the same or going down over decades, its pretty easy to see the pattern. Its kind of silly to say "my scientist who shares my views is better than yours" All i am saying is i am looking at facts, and giving my opinion based on those facts.

and you have the knowledge to interpretate this small amount of raw data better than all the UN scientists.

I think your missing the point. No one is arguing that the earth is warming. The debate is whether or not human co2 emissions have had any impact on that warming, or if this is just a normal warming trend like many others that have occurred over the last 400,000 years. There is currently no conclusive scientific evidence to link co2 emissions and global warming.

I understand what you are saying. I agree with your point that there is no evidence to link co2 with global warming. The earth ages in cycles. I wonder what the arguement will be 100,000 years from today when we possibly approach another ice-age. Who will the "Global Cooling" be blamed on then? I wish gore would be around then to see his reaction.

LOL, I agree completely. Although you probably don't even need to wait 100,000 years, it was only 30 years ago that scientists were warning us about the impending ice age.

Just think if back then we had spent billions of money in panic to warm the earth and now again to cool it. :scared1:

Oscar-winning filmmaker Al Gore, testifying Wednesday before a Congressional panel on global warming, revealed a little-known technique he has used for years to reduce his personal greenhouse gas emissions.

“I don’t exhale, and I haven’t since about 1991,” said the full-figured Mr. Gore. “Science shows there’s nothing wrong with humans breathing per se, it’s just the exhaling of carbon dioxide that threatens to bring our world to a premature, fiery, water-drenched apocalyptic end.”

Mr. Gore, still a Democrat party favorite to win the White House in the year 2000, said he also reduces his so-called “carbon footprint” by giving speeches and making movies to convince other people to cut their greenhouse gas production, thereby offsetting the emissions generated by his own global travel in private jets as well as SUVs and limousines.

“Leveraging the small efforts of millions of ordinary people is a very democratic way of achieving carbon-neutrality,” Mr. Gore said.

“It’s a team effort,” he added, while displaying a Powerpoint slide of the acronym: TEAM = Together Everyone Atones for Me.

Interesting read. The author is a bit misguided, but still brings up valid points. When you consider the environmental cost of manufacturing the car, and its shorter life span, it definitely isn't as beneficial as some people think.

I like that he gave 2 alternatives that "appear" (I don't know if they are) to be better for the environment. He could have just said the Prius was bad, buy a Hummer.

They? I know, imagine states tracking average temps like that and making the info available for ANYONE to access. That has to be fake info.....well, you sold me, if gore says it, it has to be real......:rotfl:

News flash: "real" information has been available/accessible to the public well before Google . It's called a public library. And I'll be the first one to agree that people need to research and investigate multiple sources and viewpoints to create an informed position.

The writer brings up some interesting points, but one of his arguments is seriously flawed. Just like the Prius is the flagship car for environmentalists, the Hummer is the flagship car for those addicted to consumption. Call it a hunch, but I doubt anyone who would proudly own a Hummer would ever drive that car to 300,000 miles. :confused3 I have a feeling that even though most Hummers COULD go to 300,000 miles, unless they are handed down to the military, most Hummers probably see the compactor of an auto salvage LONG before then. I try to be pretty environmentally conscious, and we routinely drive our cars past 150,000 miles....we are the ONLY ones I know who do this (my mom turns inside out because she thinks I am driving my dd around in a "clunker", but the car works just fine). Most everyone I know considers 100,000 miles the absolute cut off for keeping a car. I bet most Hummer owners don't see the odometer hit 50,000 before they trade it in and move on.

If that's the case, you could multiply the authors $1.95 figure by 6 for the original owner, or at least by 3 for the life of the car. Either way, the author does bring up some interesting "costs" of manufacturing vehicles.

Thankyou for pointing that out....at 38 years of age, i was not aware there were libraries before the internet and google:rotfl2: And i agree people need to research multiple sources......problem is, too many on the left blindly listen to gore and live by his word..without the research, and for the same baseless reason...they dont like Prez Bush.

...and you've based this assertion on what research exactly???

I, for one, was an environmentalist at least 10 years before I ever heard of G. W. Bush. Indeed, environmentalism has been around for many years, so the argument that concern about our nations environmental policy is linked to hatred of Bush is flawed.

Greenpeace, for example, was founded in the 1970s.

The Sierra Club was founded in 1892, well before anyone knew anything about either Bush or Gore.

So would you support taxing the "green house" gases emitted from barbecuing? (Belgium just did)

The founder of Green Peace left the organization because he says they've become too radical.

Not while living in TX!:rotfl: I'd be run out of the state at gunpoint!:scared1:

They are too radical. I advocate working within the law for long-term, systematic change.

I agree also.

John is probably disappointed. I think he expects all Democrats to belong to Green Peace! :rotfl:

I'll let you in on a secret that I haven't shared with anyone. Back in late 1991 I, conservative Eddie, joined Green Peace at a Bryan Adams concert which had a sign up booth right inside the entrance. I was trying to get with a girl at the time who was pretty liberal and I was shamefully trying to impress her. We went to the concert together and to get the cool looking t shirts that Green Peace was offering, I had to join. I filled out the form and wrote them a check as a donation, which in return you got a pretty cool shirt and a button, news letter, etc.

What a shameless fraud I was.:rotfl2:
The lengths some men will go to, so they can impress a woman.:rolleyes1

I had no idea how radical they really were until I started receiving my monthly news letter which was part of the year subscription that I had to sign up for. I would read them and was actually surprised how far out there they could be. It was an eye opening experience. I saw everyone talking about Green Peace and thought I would share my story.
