An Anniversary Trip Full of Favorites-May 2012 PTR!*TR Link 5/14 & Question 5/15 p32*

I don't think that you're a terrible planner AT ALL! I LOVE the idea of NOT having a plan! Just get up and go where ever you want! For our October 2013 trip, I was actually considering NOT making an itinerary at all...just making ADRs and going where ever we feel like going when we wake up in the morning...Maybe actually following the Touring Plans suggestions regarding crowd levels, you know? Granted, I will have a longer trip but I still think you're on the right track with what you have!

And don't feel bad about the WW thing! You'll get back on track! It took me since Feb 20 to FINALLY meet my 5lb goal but I did it! You have to focus on the positive things no matter how small it is. A loss is a loss and you have to be proud of yourself! And eating a bunch of crap in one day isn't going to ruin any weight you lost during the week. You don't gain weight back in one day so you should definitely still do your weigh ins! It's scary but forcing yourself to do it is the only way you will stay on track!

What awesome plans you have for your favorite trip. It's going to be such a great trip!!!!

I love all of your dining reservations. I was just wondering if you have ever tried Yachtman's Steak House over LeCellier, Now I know LC is your favorite, but we ate YSH on our Anniversary trip in 2007 and absolutely loved it. It was amazing. We also love LC and have been there 3 times, but we are planning a trip for October and we decided to do YSH again. I went over to www.allears.net and read the menus for both and that's how we came to our decision. Just a suggestion, and maybe for another trip.

I love that your staying at BeachClub, that's my favortie, and just like you such an easy walk to Epcot and DHS!!! Another fun place to eat is the Big River Grille and Brew Company, it isn't on the Dinig Plan but we always enjoy having a beer from the brew company and food.

I'm planning on reading your trip report from October because that's when my DH and I are going. We are looking forward to MNSSHP and the Food and Wine festival...

Keep up the good work!!! Your plans look great!

Jen - don't stress. I think the more you visit Disney the less likely you are to want to uber plan. Go with the flow more than you are used to. Short trips are hard because something always needs to be sacrificed. Your plans look great. Enjoy the beach club. Enjoy the fact that you can walk into Epcot whenever you darn well please!

I don't think you're an awful planner at all! I think that you go often enough, you can take a more relaxed approach to this anniversary trip. I always like the idea of leaving the last day open to do the things you wake up and want to do!

Thanks! That's what I keep telling myself, I know we will be going back, most likely in the Fall, and it will be a longer trip, so anything that we don't fit in, we can do then! I am just hoping to have a nice balance of park time and resort/pool time on this trip, we both really need a nice, laid back vacation for once!

I think it's a great idea to have a looser schedule this time, as well as plan for more pool time and Epcot time. It's okay to skip other stuff in favor of this, there is always next time for those!

Thanks! I think so too, it's just hard for me to be ok with that when I know how much fun stuff there is to do in Disney! I'm seriously going to just write down a list of must-do's, maybe 5 things, and then the rest of the time, I'm going to try to leave open! :thumbsup2

I know exactly what you are going through- my May trip is shorter than what I usually take, and I was worrying about fitting everything in...
but remember- you will be back! Instead of rushing through a bunch of stuff to 'say you did it', thoroughly enjoy what you do get to. And I bet you're right- it'll all end up working out great once you're there!

It's weird, I didn't have this problem in December when we went for 4 days, or even on our Disneymoon, which was 5 days...I think I'm remember our Disneymoon, when we stayed at the BC, and I felt like we were never there, we were always in the parks! This time I want to actually hang out at BC and enjoy it and spend a lot of time at Epcot, so if we skip a park or two, whatever! :) I don't know why I'm so stressed about this! Maybe because I still have a little over 3 weeks left to wait and I have nothing left to plan! I need a project or something!

Girl, you still have 25 or 26 days, right? You can totally lose some weight! Get it get it! I'm rooting for you! :cheer2:

You're not a bad planner! Who knows, it might be nice to switch it up a little! If it were me though, I'd be so upset if I missed out on Animal Kingdom altogether! Basically though, don't stress out about it! You've still got a good amount of time to make everything work the way you want it to. :goodvibes

Thanks! I've had a horrible cold the past few days, so I've been eating whatever, and not exercising, but I think I should be ok to exercise tomorrow...so it's back on WW tomorrow too! I really think I can lose at least 10 pounds by my trip, every little bit helps!

It will be nice to switch it up and not go crazy for once, but that is just so unlike me, I always try to maximize our park time! :rotfl: But I know Brandon wants a nice, relaxing vacation, and really, I do too, so I'm going to try to just go slow and enjoy it! :thumbsup2

Jen, I think you should leave the plans as you got. You can always add extra time at Epcot on yur next visit.

Thanks! I know, you're right, but you know me and Epcot, I can't be in Epcot's backyard and NOT want to be there every minute of the day!

I think your plans sound great as they are. I also think most people freak out at the last minute and second guess their whole schedule, lol.

Just because you are staying right next to Epcot doesn't mean you have to spend extra time there. Just enjoy your resort, and relax and have fun. Sounds like you have a perfect trip planned.

Oh, and remember ... there is always next time :wizard:

Thanks! Haha, yes, I always do this, I always want to totally re-do my whole schedule right before my trip! :rotfl2:

Well...to me, staying near Epcot means going to Epcot more, I LOVE Epcot! :lovestruc So it's going to be hard to spend time in other parks or lounging by the pool when it's right there! I just have to remember that there are always other trips, so whatever we don't do on this one, we'll do on the next!

Yep, this sounds like good ole' fashioned pre-trip jitters to me! I'm sure your trip will be amazing, and it will all work out in the end. You know you're never going to ignore your Epcot, and I'm sure you will find time to enjoy staying at Beach Club too!

That being said, 26 DAYS?! Holy macaroni, that's less than four weeks! I can't believe it! I'm so excited for you! :woohoo:

Thanks! I'm sure it's going to be amazing too, I'm probably just freaking out because I'm SO excited about this trip, and Brandon actually told me he's more excited about this trip than he has been about any trip in a really long time, so maybe I'm putting too much pressure on myself to make it perfect! I know there is no such thing as a perfect trip!

I know, I can't believe, only 3 and half weeks! I think that's only 18 days of work or something! :thumbsup2 I can't wait, I really can't! I feel like I haven't been there in forever!

Don't be stressed out!!! I'm sure you guys are going to have a wonderful, relaxing, and Epcot-filled time! Personally, for a shorter trip, I would definitely consider skipping AK and DTD in favor of more Beach Club/Epcot time.

I'm trying not to be! I'm sure we will spend a good amount of time at Epcot! I'd love to find time for AK, but if we don't, it's not a big deal, the other parks are much more important (especially Epcot)! And I can't wait to spend time at the Beach Club! :lovestruc

A short trip would be hard to plan, that's for sure. I'm sorry you're feeling stressed! Just relax, it's Disney! It has to be good! (But I get the pre-trip jitters too, I know that it's easier said than done!)
I always make solid plans for where we should go and when, then I never follow them when I'm in Disney. We go where we feel like going and do what we feel like doing. I'm sure you're going to have a wonderful trip!

It's weird, it wasn't hard to plan at first, but when I decided to NOT have much of a plan, that's when it got kind of stressful! I mean, I have a basic idea of what I want to do, but usually I have each day planned out and I'm not doing that this time! We're just going to wake up and go wherever! :thumbsup2

I'm sure we're going to have a great trip, I'm trying not to worry about it, I think if I just make myself a list of things I really want to do and get those few things done, I'll feel much better! Right now I feel all over the place! :rotfl:

I think you're just getting panicked because you normally plan plan plan, but this trip you're not and that's what freaking you out.
I bet that when you get there and realize how relaxing a time you want and will have you will be just fine :)

Remember, you might go back in the fall, so then you can plan plan plan! LOL
So take this trip as a restful and relaxing trip! You both deserve a relaxing trip :)

Thanks, I think you are right! :goodvibes I'm really used to over-planning, so not doing it this time is throwing me off a little! I am actually really excited about doing whatever, whenever, but it started to freak me out a little! I'm calming down, though!

And yes, I am definitely going to plan like a manic if we do in the Fall! :woohoo: :rotfl2:

Taking a short trip always means having to cut time off somewhere, but I'm sure you will get it worked out.

In the end, you and Brandon are going to do what you feel like doing at the time. If you're not in an AK mood at all during the trip, then you don't go there. Sure, you might look back later on and go, "It kinda stinks that we missed Everest this go round," but then you'll think about how much Epcot time you got and be all right. :thumbsup2 Really, when it comes to short WDW trips, you have to keep in mind that you'll be returning at a later date and can hit up some popular spots then.

You're so right! :cool1: I don't know why I'm acting like I haven't done short trips before, I know there isn't a lot of time on them and that some things just won't get done, and I'm fine with that! If we don't get to AK, then we don't! And DTD can probably wait until the Fall, what I'm most concerned with on this trip is Epcot, Beach Club, and DHS! And relaxing! As long as those things get done, everything else is just icing on the cake!

awe :( I feel so bad that you can't add another day or two to your trip! But that's coming from me - the person who lives so far away that I can only go once every 2- 4 years so for me it feels AWEFUL to have to skip something. If your going to be back again before long then I would suggest you go ahead and skip out on a park of your choice to help make it a more managable trip with lots of time to relax and enjoy Epcot :goodvibes

I hear ya on the weightloss too. I always gain about 5lb on a WDW trip b/c of pigging out so I was trying to get down 10 lb. 5 to make me happy and the other 5 b/c i KNOW i will gain it back on the trip. but it can be so hard and frustrating!!! I lost the first 5 after months and then lost 1 more, then gained it back, then lost 2 and have since gained them back b/c of Easter :scared1: So I'm back at my original 5 lost and just feel like I'm STUCK there!!! Easter is over now though so maybe without all the family meals and chocolates around it'll be more managable. We can do this right??? We'll do it together! I only have 2 weeks and 2 days left so I'll have to work hard to get those 5 off fast too.

It's ok that we can't add another day or two, in fact, if I could, Brandon might not have agreed to go at all, it would have gotten a lot more expensive! :rotfl: I love AK and I hate the thought of skipping it, but if we do, it will always be there next time!

We can definitely lose some weight before our trips! I'm ready to get serious again, my stupid cold got me all off track for a little while, but I'm ready to start back up again! :thumbsup2 I'd love to lose 10 pounds in 3.5 weeks, I think that is totally reasonable! Good luck! :goodvibes

I agree with what the others have said... you've got a great plan, don't stress! This trip is all about your favorites, and for your anniversary... if you don't get a chance to do something, just know it's there for you next time. :thumbsup2

And you've still got 25 days to lose a few pounds! Even though you might not make your initial goal of losing 20 lbs before your trip, every pound counts, right? You can do it! :goodvibes

Thanks! You're right, it is our favorites trip (which is why I freaked out about Epcot for a minute-it's my favorite place in the world!) so if we don't do something, then we don't do it! There's always next time! :thumbsup2

Well, 20 pounds won't happen, but I think I can at least get to 10 pounds! Every little bit helps, I'm definitely going to keep going! :)

Thanks! I love the idea of not having a plan either, it's just, with only so many days to work with, it starts to freak you out after a while! But I'm ok with it now, you guys have calmed me down and I think I'm ok accepting that some things just won't get done, but we will still have an amazing trip!

Haha, well, it wasn't just a bunch of crap in one day, it was from Friday until, well, today, basically! Since I had a cold, I just ate whatever, and we were also dog sitting at Brandon's parents house, and they bought us so much horrible food! I couldn't just NOT eat it! But I'm ready to go with WW again, I'm over being sick, so I can exercise, and I WILL lose 10 pounds before I get on that plane! :thumbsup2

Thank you! I have never been to Yachtsman, I want to try it so bad! In fact, I thought about doing it this trip, but we're doing Cali Grill instead! I've heard great things about Yachtsman, though, I'm glad you love it so much! I'm definitely going to try it on a future trip! :thumbsup2

I love the Beach Club it's so beautiful, and the location is amazing! I don't thin we ever even think about Big River Grille! I mean, I know it exists, but we never go there! Thanks for the tip, I will definitely look into it one night if we need a place to eat! :)

You are going to love October, it's a great time to go! I have lots of Food and Wine stuff in my TR, and I did 2 MNSSHP's on that trip, so I hope reading it helps you out! :thumbsup2

Thanks, I'm trying not to! I'm looking forward to the Beach Club and Epcot and the pool and taking it slow and not going crazy like on all of our other trips! Ha, I totally do this all the time! I think it's okay to get stressed - it is a lot of money and sometimes everything just piles up and it's hard to sort through everything. And my advice is probably going to be the opposite of everyone else's, since knowing that I shouldn't be stressing never helps me (it actually does the opposite, haha). I am a stressed-out ball of anxiety pretty much 24/7, so I have a notebook where I can keep notes on what I'm stressing about and goals I have for projects/time spans/whatever. It helps me sort out what I think I'm expected to do and what I actually want to do (or at least I can figure out a way to prioritize everything! Planning and relaxing aren't mutually exclusive. And neither planning or ~go with the flow~ is a better way to prep for a vacation, it's all about what makes you happy and comfortable with your trip! :) )

But really, focusing on resort time seems like a great plan for this time of year, especially with the all the spring flowers everywhere. The parks will still be there for next time and then they'll probably be better than ever, given all the refurbishments going on (but go see the Fantasyland Circus because it looks awesome!!).

Jen,

First of all, don't stress out about not having a concrete plan. I think the idea of making a list of things you'd like to do at each park, places you'd like to eat or snacks you'd like to try and add your trip to DTD on that list. If you worry too much about not having enough park time, you won't enjoy being at the park-if that makes sense. I had this same feeling on our last trip and I don't think I enjoyed being physically in Disney as much as I should have. Plus, it seems like you're an early riser so if you guys hit a park in the morning to early afternoon, you can go back to the Beach Club, spend a few hours by the pool and then go back to the parks at night.

Second, congrats on the 1.5lb loss! That's great! I let myself eat WHATEVER I wanted on our trip and when we came home and I weighed in that night, the scale said I gained over 3lbs! I was so mad at myself b/c I had worked SO hard the weeks before we left. I just made it a point to eat great the next 3 days and when weigh-in time came on Friday (this is our actual weigh-in day), the scale said I lost over 6lbs. I was SO thrilled. It's a long process and I know I'm not being very patient about it myself but you need to let yourself indulge from time to time b/c then you are just going to give up. Keep going, you can do it!!!

Haha, I'm pretty much a stressed out ball of anxiety too, which is why even planning VACATION stresses me out! I mean, I love it, but I just worry about things too much, you know?

I've pretty much decided to make a list (maybe I'll do that a little later!) of maybe the top 5 things that I absolutely HAVE to get done on this trip, and the rest of the time, we'll just do whatever we feel like doing! I think between that, our ADR's, which force us to be in certain parks at certain times, and free time, it will be a nice balance!

One of the things I'm most looking forward to is resort time, I really want to have a good amount of time at the Beach Club! If we can just stay at the resort a little more than we normally do, I'll be happy! :cool1:

Oh, and I'm definitely going to check out the new Fantasyland Circus area, I can't wait! :woohoo:

Thanks, I'm actually not as stressed about it anymore, now that I had so much great advice from everyone here! :goodvibes Sometimes I just obsess about things way too much in my head and make myself crazy! :crazy2: I am going to make a list and just go from there and remind myself that we are possibly going back in 6 months, so we can just go crazy on that trip! :rotfl2: I want this trip to be about taking it easy, doing our favorite things, and hanging out at the Beach Club!

Ugh I did terrible again this week. No exercise, I didn't count points, and my weigh in day is Friday, so there's pretty much no way I can fix anything this week. I mean, I didn't eat whatever I want or anything, but I didn't count points, so I'm sure I went way over on each day. I'm just going to have to see what I can do the next few weeks and then when I get home from our trip, really focus on getting serious, I refuse to go back in the Fall and not be skinnier! :thumbsup2 Congrats on your 6 lbs, that's amazing!! :goodvibes

Sorry your stressing! things will work out...I'm sure you will be able to find a good mix of 'resort time' and "park time"!!

your trip will be here really, really soon!!!!!!!!!!! yeah!

Thanks! I'm actually not really that stressed anymore, I'm starting to just be happy that I will be in Disney soon! As long as I'm there, I'm happy!

I can't believe that you are going back so soon. I looked on your first page but didn't see it, what dates are you going to be there?

I feel stressed when I don't have some type of plan, but that is only b/c if I don't have everything scheduled in somewhere we end up doing NOTHING:headache: I am all for resort time, but not a whole week of resort time.

I'm sure you'll have an amazing trip and everything will work out once you're at Disney World

Like other DISers have said it's just pre-trip jitters.

That's weird, I wonder why I didn't put the dates on the first page? Well, they are May 5-May9. Less than 3 weeks!

I have a casual plan, and of course, we have to go to our ADR's, so I think I'm getting freaked out for nothing. If we skip AK or DTD, oh well! There's always next time!

Thank you, I hope so! I don't think I have pre-trip jitters anymore, I'm so ready to go! I wish we were going this weekend!

Time to do the Must Do's!

Hi everyone!

So in my last update, I was kind of freaking out about not having enough time to fit everything in, and not having a schedule, so I thought making a little list of things I absolutely HAVE to get done might help, and you know what? It did! I feel so much better about this trip now, I'm just ready to go and relax and have fun in the parks! If we don't get something done, then it doesn't get done, no big deal! I know we'll be going back, so there is always next time!

I left obvious things off the list, like certain attractions I want to do, or places I want to eat, I might do a separate list for those later, there are just really general things that have to get accomplished on this trip!

1. Rope Drop at DHS!
HollywoodStudiosOpening0002.jpg

I just have to do it this time, I have to ride TSM and I feel like if I want an FP, this is the only way!

2. Pool time/Resort time
Stormalong_bay.jpg

We sometimes skip the pool at our resorts, and don't take the time to enjoy being there, so this time, I'm going to make sure we slow down and RELAX! We're going to really try to just take it easy and be on vacation for once!

3. Spend lots of time at Epcot and enjoy the Flower and Garden Festival!
DSC04679-600x399.jpg

The Flower and Garden festival is so beautiful, I want to make sure we have enough time to really look at everything, and of course, Epcot is my favorite place in the world and we're within walking distance to it! We have to spend a lot of time there!

4. See Wishes and Illuminations
5387052611_9b1f7f7dfe_z.jpg

I can't go to Disney and not see both of those shows...I'm hoping to do Illuminations more than once, that's how obsessed with it I am!

5. Take the monorail from Epcot to MK!
foto-epcot.gif

I know it's not the fastest way to get to MK from the Beach Club, but I love the monorail so much, and I feel like we never really use it, unless we park at the stupid TTC! I'm hoping to take it over to MK the night we go to CA Grill, but I have to double check to be sure it's running, I don't even know what's going on with the monorail right now!

IF we have time, and can fit it into our schedules, I'd like to also

~go to Animal Kingdom
~go to Downtown Disney
~do rope drop at MK

but if those things don't happen, again, it's fine, we'll just do them on our next trip! :dance3:

I feel so much better now that I have a clear idea of what I want to get accomplished on this trip now! Now I can just sit back and relax and wait for the next couple of weeks to go by!

19 more days!!! :dance3: :yay: :woohoo:

I think your list of must-dos looks great! Is your dinner at California Grill late? If not, it might make more sense to take the bus to MK, then the monorail back to Epcot and walk through Epcot to get to BC. When you take the monorail TO Epcot, you get to do the loop around the park, which is my favorite part. :)

So I'm starting to freak out a little about this trip. I feel like I haven't planned it out very well at all and I'm kind of mad at myself. I'm staying at the BEACH CLUB and I feel like there is just not enough Epcot time planned. And I'm also annoyed that it's such a short trip. I mean, there's nothing we can do about that, Brandon only has 3 vacation days so that's all we can use until July, but it's annoying, I wish his job would just let him take unpaid days, but I guess that's frowned upon or something. :confused3 :sad2:

I don't know what to do about this problem, I don't want to make a strict schedule we have to follow, but at the same time, I need to be at Epcot more than I'm thinking we are going to be there. I'm sure it will all work out when we are there and I'm just getting my pre-trip jitters that I always get, I just really wish I had one more day to work with!

Jen, don't stress out about it. You'd be surprised how much you can do in a couple days. When we went in October to visit Emma we basically did every major attraction at each park in 2 full days. And there's always another trip to do what you can't get done! (ETA: OK, just saw your newest post...glad you are feeling better about your plans now. :))

As for the Flower and Garden Festival, there is so much to see-we went to Epcot 3 times and I still don't think we saw everything!

I think they might've changed the rope drop at DHS. Meaning that there is no actual rope anymore to keep everyone in that massive hoard. When we were there last Monday, we got there for park opening and they just let people start walking right away, making for a much less congested walk. And there were only a couple people in each FP line, so hopefully it'll work out like that for you guys.

Great list! The monorail especially- for some reason, on my way to work this morning I could not stop thinking about the monorail spiel and how excited everyone is on the monorail in the morning. Then I started going nuts that it's still 20 days away!!

That's a pretty manageable list! It definitely helps when you know there will be another trip shortly after this one! If you don't get to everything then "there's always next time!" Taking time to use the pool is probably the best decision we ever made! it's so relaxing and it really helps you to feel like you're actually ON vacation!

I love your must dos! I'm glad you were able to prioritize so you could relax about your trip a little!

I really want to ride the monorail from Epcot to MK on our trip too!!! You'll have to let me know how it is, if you do it! :)

19 DAYS?! HOLY COW!!!
