My 12 yo must be an oddball. This summer he's been waking up, getting a shower, going out to play, comes back and gets a shower in the afternoon, goes back out and sometimes will even get a shower at night. I know it's just a phase and I'm so happy he's clean!

This is the same kid who slicked his hair with gel and wore cologne to kindergarten.

LOL! I remember when my nephew went through that stage. He also thought washing his hair meant just wetting it down.

Girl's can have some bad habits too.
My niece was about 8 when she said to my sister one day "Do you know that some people change their underwear everyday?" My DS said "Ummmmmm, don't you?" DN saw no point in changing them since they were covered by her pants and in her mind they didn't get dirty. My sister had to start counting the underwear in the laundry

My nephew is at the other end of the spectrum. When he lived with us the kid would take almost an hour to get ready to go out. Shower, styling the hair, mousse, hair spray. Finally, I told him that his cousin (our daughter) didn't take that long to get ready to go out. And this included putting on makeup.

When mine was that age he always said the same thing when he went to get a haircut. He didn't want a buzz cut, but he wanted it short enough that he wouldn't "have to comb it".

One Sunday (several years ago) I asked him if he had combed his hair and he said "Yes, . . . last Wednesday."
