Ship or Time on ship more important?

I thought of that, but Alaska seems to have its own followers and a specific season, and really probably should have not included San Juan. But for a large majority of the population not in Fl and having to fly, it just does not make sense to fly and not go for the longer cruises. We have been with DCL since 2006 and maybe it is the price and the combo of everything else we currently just don't have the drive if you will to book another one right now, they jsut don't fit what we want out of a cruise, but did easily with only 4 ships. I think that may be what is throwing me off, we feel like we should have more options, but in reality for what we are looking for it SEEMS less, but may not be in reality. \

Thanks for all the comments. I know the board is a somewhat skewed veteran cruiser population, but I am enjoying the perspectives.

We're still newish cruisers, but the 4 night ones we've paired with a parks trip. I won't do anything shorter than 4 nights though...it's too much of a hassle to embark/disembark on such a short turnaround. I'd rather just stay on land for those 3 nights.

They seem to be filling the ships with shorter cruises so until that changes I don't see why they would change.
As a stockholder, that's fine with me. 3 and 4 day cruises mean the ships carry twice as many passengers a week as a 7 day cruise. That doubles the sales of those one per cruise souvenirs like Tee shirts, Captain Mickey and Minnie and Stuffy Bear or whatever that creature is called.
For us, cruisers are ALL about the itinerary. I can't say I won't sail Disney again, but it is unlikely. Our next cruise on Princess checks all the boxes. A week land tour of U.S. historic sites followed by a 7 day cruise out of NYC of Eastern Canada, Boston and Newport.

This may be a major part of why DCL has so many 3- and 4-night cruises from Florida. Yes, it doesn't make sense to fly down just for a cruise, but you can pair a cruise with a Walt Disney World visit if you have a week to spend on vacation.
