AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

The dog appears to be feeling a little better. He didn't eat all day. And of course the vet couldn't find anything wrong with him. I guess we lucked out Jane, we got out of there with 2 shots, some pills, special food and only $80 out of our pocket! I have no idea if he ate some dead bird in the backyard or what, but I am glad the end is near. He didn't have an accident in his crate last night, which is a good sign! Foodwise I could have done better, but I usually don't do too great when I am off my routine... Weigh-in this morning was 139. WHATEVER!!!! I really don't care anymore. I hate that scale, I should just get rid of it. Ya right! :rolleyes: I know I am in better shape because I did an exercise DVD and it wasn't as difficult as it used to be. I drank 80oz of water, 8oz FF Chai and some DC:

6:00am: Chocolate Oatmeal
9:15am: FF Yogurt; Grape Nuts Crunch
12:00pm: Romaine; Chicken; Cheese (1/8c); LF Dressing (2tbsp); 1 serving Waffle Pretzels; Hummus; 100 Cal Pack (Oreos)
3:20pm: FF Cottage Cheese; Banana; Fudge Bar (50cal)
6:45pm: Pork Roast; Onion; Carrots; 2 Mini Red Potatoes; SF/FF Pudding
8:30pm: Reese's Puffs (1/2c) :guilty:
WORKOUT: Pilates Sculpt DVD (55min)
RESISTED: More pudding, ice cream at DQ :cheer2:

Anna, if DS could just learn to keep his mouth shut, he'd be doing SO much better! He will go through spurts - he'll be fine for a month, then a total pill for about a week. I just keep crossing my fingers that he'll grow out of it...

Amy, ya, the crate was pretty raunchy. I had to hose off all the bedding before I threw it in the washing machine. I am getting to the point where I don't even feel guilty about eating bad anymore. I eat perfectly and stay the same weight, I eat junk occasionally and stay the same weight - why not enjoy the naughty stuff a little more??

Jane, I would have called that person back to see what their problem was. But of course it was probably just a wrong number... I was also up until after midnight on Monday night since I drank a bunch of DC after 8pm. I usually don't drink caffeine after about 3pm since I am pretty sensitive to it. NOT FUN, especially when I RARELY have a problem getting to sleep. I told DH I was going to go watch TV but he insisted I stay and toss and turn for 2 hours...

Jamie, DS had a great season! I was very proud of him, he has really matured (well, in baseball anyway) since last year.

I'm going to have to switch vets! The only difference I could see between your visit and ours was the xray - and that definately didn't cost $200. I'm irritated now that we paid out so much darn money. :rolleyes2

Your diet is looking good! Pat yourself on the back and don't let yourself get sidetracked. You looked great in your vacation pictures!

I've been doing some research trying to figure out why I'm getting these bad cravings. I was watching a morning tv program that stressed how people crave what their bodies are missing. For example, if I am missing magnesium I crave chocolate. I quit taking my vitamins about 2 months ago so I started back up today. I really really really really hope that it helps. Who knows, maybe there's some little stupid trace mineral you're missing thats causing you all this grief!

Hi Amy, glad Buckley is better! I've gotten where if one of my three dogs gets sick I feed them rice cooked in chicken broth. If that doesn't work in a day or two then I take them in. The vet tech at our office told me to do that unless they are having convulsions or something like that. And also to make sure they are drinking water. He reminded me I don't go to the doctor every time I barf so why should I take the dogs? The last time I took Shelby our mutt to the vet with barfing they told me to do that and then charged me around $75 or something like that. Dogs are a huge financial committment in case you haven't noticed (but so worth it!).

Your food looks great. And that must have been a great feeling to find the exercise DVD easier than before. Thats a sign of progress you won't see on the scale!

Glad Buckley is doing better. You are a good woman to clean up after him!

Good news that the exercise DVD is easier and great job resisting the treats at DQ! :cheer2:

Amy - glad Buckley is doing better.
And I couldn't agree more about the scale!! I'm at the point that I don't really care what I weigh...my clothes are fitting better and I feel better, so who cares??!!

and congrats on a great b-ball season - DH did a great job!!

marie

I didn’t even weigh myself today. I’m just so sick of being ticked off at the scale and I’m not gonna worry about it anymore! ::yes:: I forced myself to go to the gym even though I was so sleepy after lunch. Work is slow, which doesn’t help matters any… :rolleyes: I am thinking about taking an adult ballet and/or tap class at DD’s studio. DD told me to take ballet because it would make me more flexible. How funny! I don’t know because I have never taken any type of dance class and I have ZERO rhythm and ZERO grace. I think it would be good exercise and it would be something for ME only. I am the only one in the family that doesn’t do an activity (besides taking care of everyone else and going to the gym). DS10 has baseball and soon piano, DD6 has dance and soccer, DH has golf. Each class is 45 minutes long, and they are back-to-back on Wednesdays, so I could take both if I wanted to. It’d be something different from going to the gym. The summer session starts the week of 6/19, so I have a couple weeks to decide. What do you think? I’ve got to get control of my snacking, I’ve been pretty lax lately... :confused3 Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups tea, 10oz iced green tea and a Peach Fresca:

6:20am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheddar; Oatmeal
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese; Grapes
11:45am: Pork Roast; Carrots; Banana; ~1/4c (probably less) Puppy Chow (Chex covered w/chocolate & powdered sugar)
2:30pm: Egg Whites (3); Apple
5:15pm: 1tbsp Peanut Butter
7:15pm: Chicken; Cauliflower; Salad w/LF Dressing; SF/FF Pudding
8:30pm: Fudge Bar
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Treadmill (35min)
RESISTED: Fruit Tart in breakroom, more peanut butter

Jane, we switched vets for that very reason, plus this one is right around the corner. I couldn't believe the difference in prices. It's not regulated like "real" doctors! I take a multi-vitamin everyday. I'm pretty sure all my cravings are mental :crazy:

Amy, you are right! This is our first dog, so we have no clue. I was paranoid about parasites or something awful. In the future, we will just feed him the special food and let it pass on its own. Next time there is something wrong I will ask you first, since you have lots of experience! :teeth:

Anna, like I had a choice!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: I was very pleased that my DVD was easier. All my hard work is paying off even if my body doesn't show it.

Marie, I think I will weigh myself once a week, but I might not even do that. And I am going to go out and buy some new clothes (probably all Size 8's). I was always putting it off because I wanted to lose those 10lbs, but now that I don't care, I just want some cute new clothes that compliment my figure.

The dance class sounds fun! :cool1: You should go for it. It'll keep you from getting stuck in a rut & you'll probably use muscles you never knew you had.

You had me scared with that Puppy Chow snack! Thats almost as bad as the Kitty Litter cake recipe I heard about on the radio today! Lets just say that tootsie rolls was on the list of ingredients.

I was doing great yesterday until DH came home from golf and said he wanted to go out to eat (the kids went to their dad’s for a long weekend). So we ended up going to La Parilla Suiza. I was not that impressed. And this morning, instead of getting upset at the 2-3lbs I’m sure I gained, I not only didn’t weigh myself but I put my scale in the closet! I am already much happier because of it. Starting today I HAVE to get my food back in check! I’ve really started snacking too much and I need to stop. Tomorrow we are going to a party, which always spells disaster… Yesterday I drank 110oz of water, 2 cups tea, 10oz iced green tea, a DC and ½ pitcher of Midori Margaritas:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese; Cantaloupe
11:30am: Chicken; Rice-A-Roni (1/2c); Cauliflower
2:30pm: Egg Whites (3); Apple
4:30pm: 100 Cal Pack (Oreos)
6:30pm: Half of my Chicken Fajitas (Chicken, Green & Red Peppers, Onions, Lettuce, 2 small Flour Tortillas); Chips-n-Salsa
8:30pm: 1 ½ Coconut Macaroons; Apple Cranberry Bran Cake
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Animal Crackers; Candy Jar

Jane, I am still up in the air on the dance classes. I am about 50-50 right now. It's a big commitment and I don't know if I'd like it. I'll keep you posted! I've seen the Kitty Litter cake before - pretty gross! When DH turns 50 in 2 years I am going to make him one of those graveyard cakes (I'm such a nice wife! :teeth: )

Hi Amy,

I think dance class sounds like fun...that would spice up your excecise routine...not that you really need it. But I think it would be fun!

Glad to hear that your furbaby is getting better. I bet he ate something that just didn't sit well with him!!

You are doing great....good job on forgetting about the scale! Keep up the good work....you can get back on track. I know it!

Have a great weekend!

Hi Amy,

Definitely do the dance class!! It sounds like so much fun, and good exercise too. I've always wanted to take an adult class, there is a group of women who do a jazz class right after my DD's class finishes each week, and I would love to try it if I could find the time to fit it in. Go for it! :thumbsup2

I've been busy with work and haven't even posted much, but thinking about you.

Hi Amy! Definitely do the dance class! Will they let you do one for free to see if you like it before you sign up and committ financially? Good for you putting that scale where it belongs! And I think its great you ate out with hubby with no kids and drank a bit too. We all need to let our hair down now and again! Feel free to ask me doggy questions. I do have experience since I somehow have three dogs living in my house! And be prepared for future tummy problems, beagles eat anything and have no idea when to stop eating. I once had a friend who's beagle ate (get this) a WHOLE FROZEN CHICKEN. To this day I have no idea how but the dog did it. The vet was at a loss and told them to put this poor, moaning, ill, dog out in the sun to let it its stomach contents defrost. The dog lived and it now makes a great story! So keep your thawing chicken up high where Buckley can't get it! Enjoy your weekend and your party, you are doing great. Let us know about the dance class!

Good for you putting that scale in the closet! :thumbsup2 Definitely go out and get some nice new clothes. You have worked hard and deserve some nice new things. It will make you feel better too.

Good Luck with the Dance class. It would be great if you could "try it out" first, but either way it would be something new and different and keep your exercise varied for the summer when you don't get your lunchtime walks.

Thanks for stopping by my journal. I appreciate your support.

Boy, so much for my "relaxing" weekend lounging by the pool! Yesterday we spent most of the day shopping and running around. DD6's b-day is next weekend so we had to get gifts, etc. Next thing you know, it was time to go to our friend's going away party for their German exchange student. I actually did good foodwise, BAD drinkwise... :confused3 My stomach is letting me know just how stupid that was... Today I am going to the gym, then we are going to see DaVinci Code, then hopefully I will get some pool time.

Fri I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups tea, 10oz iced green tea and a DC:
5:30am: Chocolate Oatmeal; Blueberry Fiber Cake
8:35am: FF Cottage Cheese; Cantaloupe
11:35am: Chicken; Rice-A-Roni (1/2c); Cauliflower
2:30pm: Egg Whites (3); Apple
5:30pm: Apple Cranberry Fiber Cake
6:30pm: Steak (6oz?); 10 Waffle Pretzels; Corn on the Cob (2); Macaroon; Fudge Bar
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Elliptical (35min)
RESISTED: More macaroons

Sat I drank 80oz of water, 8oz FF Chai, 24oz iced tea and here's the bad part - 4 glasses of wine, 2 frozen drinks at Outback!:
9:00am: Egg Beaters w/Cheese; 2 Bran Cakes (Can you tell what my problem has been lately? :blush: )
1:30pm (@Tia Rosa): Chips-n-Salsa; Salmon Taco w/Mango Salsa; Shrimp Taco w/Pineapple Salsa
5:00pm: FF Yogurt; Grape Nuts Crunch (1/2c); Almonds (1.2oz)
7:30pm (@party): Grilled Chicken (4oz); Macaroni Salad (1/2c); 1 Deviled Egg; 1/8c Trail Mix; 2 Chocolate Chip Cookies
10:30pm (@Outback): 1/2 loaf bread w/butter; Macaroon
WORKOUT: On the Ball (60min); Treadmill (30min)
RESISTED: A whole bowl of trail mix, chips, pretzels, more macaroons

Jamie, I think getting back on track will start on Monday. We are going to the movies today and I have not had popcorn in forever! I might indulge...

Kate, I have recuited a friend of mine to go with me. She has been wanting to go ever since she went to DD's recital. She wants to do BOTH tap and ballet. I'm a little nervous, but I'll give it a whirl! I figure it's only 1 night a week and it'll be something different.

Amy, yes I can take each class for free to see if I like it. It is amazing what beagles eat! My vet had one in his office that ate a whole loaf of bread. :confused3 Sometimes I want to get another one, so he has a playmate, but other times I can barely keep up with one! I don't know how you manage 3!!

Anna, you will be happy to hear that I went out and bought myself several new workout outfits and a new pair of cross-trainer shoes. :cool1: Haven't gone "real clothes" shopping yet, but I am really bad about spending money on myself and this was a baby step... I will definitely want to buy some new work clothes soon.

Macaroons are so yummy! You did great resisting more of those.

Good for you getting new workout clothes! That is a good first step. :thumbsup2 I am the same way. The kids are always well dressed, but I find it so hard to buy clothes for myself, mostly because "I don't wear that size!?" sigh. I would be absolutely thrilled to buy size 8's though! That is my ultimate goal, but I don't know if my body will let me actually get there. I don't think I have been there since before we were married! Yikes!

How was the movie? DH just suggested we get a sitter and try and see DaVinci Code tomorrow. :love:

As always, things didn't go as planned yesterday. We went to the movies, then we went to our friend's for a BBQ and to watch the Suns get their butts kicked... :furious: I have been an eating machine these last couple days, but I plan on getting back on track STARTING NOW! I worked my tail off this weekend at the gym. And eating hasn't been THAT awful, it's the drinking that is killing me. Fortunately I don't drink all the time - only at social gatherings... :rolleyes: Yesterday I drank 80oz of water, 8oz FF Chai, about 20oz of DC and 3 Alize Passion w/Diet Sprite:

7:00am: Egg Beaters w/Cheese; Blueberry Fiber Cake
11:30am: Balance Bar, 1/3 small popcorn @ movies
3:30pm: 10 Waffle Pretzels; Chips-n-Salsa
5:30pm: Grilled Tri-Tip; 2 pieces Grilled Garlic Bread; Grilled Veggies; Small Potato w/LF Sour Cream
7:30pm: 1 small piece Pecan Caramel Supreme Pie from Village Inn :cloud9:
9:00pm: Apple Cranberry Fiber Cake
WORKOUT: TBK (60min); ABT (30min)
RESISTED: Another piece of pie; More popcorn @ movies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anna, I think all moms are like that. My kids both are really nicely dressed and I have no qualms buying them stuff. Same for DH. But when I want to buy something for myself, I feel like I have to justify it. It's not right! The movie was entertaining. Of course they changed a couple things from the book, but that is to be expected. It was 2.5 hours but it was very fast paced and didn't drag at all (like King Kong). If you read the book, you'll probably enjoy it.
Amy, glad to hear that you bought new workout clothes! :thumbsup2 Thats got to make your workout even better! Size 8 is a great size to get stuck with!
Sorry that the Suns didn't win - think they'll pull it off for Tuesday? I'm just glad Miami won!!!!! :banana: :banana: :banana: I love Pat Riley! When we lived in LA he coached the Lakers! and if memory serves me he actually copyrighted the term Threepeat! Anyway I'll feel better after we beat Detroit on their home turf! Oops, I'm sorry is that close to your home turf?
Regarding the DaVinci Code - can the movie stand alone without the book? Neither dh nor I have read the book - would we still enjoy the screen version? I'd love to see it as long as its not boring & I'm not missing anything since I haven't read the book.
I feel like crap after this weekend - too much partying at the beach, too much high fat food & no exercise at all. Between the salt at the beach, the salt in the food & the alcohol in my drinks - I feel downright awful. :confused3
Yeah for size 8's, that is awesome!!
As for the Suns well I wish them the best but I must cheer for the home team! :lmao:
I made my exercise goal!!! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :banana: :cool1: :yay: I about died, but I did it! They had some “Try Me” ½ hour classes at the gym, so I tried them! Then I took a much deserved break and floated in the pool for over an hour… Eating was a little better. I decided I will weigh myself once a week on Wednesdays so I can get a weight to input on the cardio machines at the gym. If I didn’t have to do that, I probably wouldn’t weigh myself at all. I kinda like not worrying about it! Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 8oz FF Chai, 16oz iced green tea and a DC:
6:50am: Balance Bar
10:00am: FF Yogurt; Grape Nuts Crunch (1/2c); Blueberry Fiber Cake
1:30pm: Leftover Chicken Fajitas; Wheat Tortilla; 100 Cal Pack
4:30pm: FF Cottage Cheese; Fiber Cake; 2 Sweet Pickles
6:45pm: 2 pieces Ham-n-Pineapple Pizza; 3 Mozarella Sticks w/Marinara Sauce; Fudge Bar
WORKOUT: 4 Back-to-Back Classes (120 minutes – Muscle, Cardio Kickbox, Step, TBK)
RESISTED: Cinnamon Streusel Cake; Almonds
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, I want the Suns to win, my dad wants Detroit to win. I think there will be a huge family fued if it is the Suns vs Pistons in the finals... DH didn't read the book and he enjoyed the movie. I thought it might be confusing if you didn't read it, but he said it was fine. It definitely isn't boring - very fast paced. It's not going to win an Academy Award or anything, but it was entertaining. You can get back on track this week! You have a month to recover before 4th of July! I overindulged in everything this weekend too... :guilty:

Beth, I might be more happy about the Size 8's if I wasn't in Size 6's before!!! :confused3 I don't really care for basketball, I just think it is so funny how DH gets so mad and yells at the players - like they can hear him and like they would listen to him if they could! :rotfl2:

You too?!?! Its even worse during football season. The poor dog begs to go outside during his games. Thank God he doesn't watch professional baseball.

:cheer2: :cheer2: Congrats on meeting your May exercise goal! Great job, Amy! :cheer2: :cheer2: You've done so many different kinds of exercise this month its amazing. Those 1/2 hour classes sound like fun.

YEAH for making your goal WHOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

I would laugh about your hubby yelling at the tv but I've been doing that tonight too. LOL! I am really not into any sport but if the home team is moving along I will whole heartedly support them. :rotfl2:
