AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Those sound like really interesting flavors what were they like? I need to live through you on this one. Ice cream is a huge trigger food for me and I have resisted it several times so far already this year but it's HARD!!!!

I hope you and DH have a great day tomorrow! Happy Birthday to him! party: :bday:

Yikes, another "off" day. Gotta turn it around! The food wasn't too bad, but a friend brought Jello shots to the party... I could have killed my beagle yesterday! When someone was leaving last night, the little stinker bolted out the front door. And he was running around like a total spaz and I thought he was going to get hit by a car (if one happened to drive by). There were 5 of us out there, calling him, and he would come, but as soon as we tried to grab him he would run away again. And that little sucker is FAST! Finally one of my friends managed to grab him. DH wants to get a shock collar since he's had the pleasure of chasing him down once before. Now that I've experienced the madness, I think it might be a good idea...

Tea of Tranquility = Chai flavored ice cream w/cinnamon and gingersnap pieces

Baseball Nut = Vanilla ice cream with a/black raspberry swirl and cashews

Beth, I can't have ice cream in the house. I was very proud of myself at the store today. My fave brand of ice cream was on sale for a killer price, but I refused to buy any! I'd rather go to Baskin Robbins or Cold Stone Creamery and splurge occasionally instead of splurging every night at home...

Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 8oz FF Chai; 20oz Iced Tea; 2 glasses "Category 5" white sangria (Jane, this is a FL wine we got in Key West - YUM!); 4-5 Jello shots:

8:00am: Egg Beaters w/Cheese; All Bran Yogurt Bites w/Skim Milk
11:00am: FF Yogurt; Kashi Crunch
1:30pm: FF Cottage Cheese; Quaker Multigrain Minis (10)
3:00pm: Chocolate Oatmeal
6:00pm: Tri-Tip; Wheat Tortilla; Broccoli Salad; Pretzels w/PB
8:00pm: Cake (small piece); Ice cream (very small scoop)
WORKOUT: None - I am really struggling here! Gotta get back in the groove! :yay:
RESISTED: More ice cream; Chips-n-Salsa

Jane, I hear ya on the Monday start fresh part! We can do it!

Beth, DH is having a fantastic b-day. Right now he is outside rotatilling the backyard... :confused3

Hi there Amy,

So sorry to hear that the dog got a little out of control....I think sometimes they like to do that just to see how far they can push you!!!! Thankfully he came back safe and sound and nothing bad happened to him.

Good for you for reisiting the bad stuff !!! : )

You are doing a great job, keep it up!

Happy Monday

Geez, I can't wait to get back on track with my eating today! DH took the leftover b-day cake to work. :banana: I am usually not a big cake fan, but it was white cake and it was really good... I'm glad it's no longer around to tempt me! Ditto on the ice cream (we got a quart of Baseball Nut for his b-day). We finished that off last night... :rolleyes: I did make it to the gym and it felt great! Since I knew I'd be going today as well, I only did upper body weights. Today will be lower body. I drank 100oz of water and 8oz FF Chai:

8:30am: Kashi Crunch; FF Yogurt; Toast-n-Butter
11:15am: Leftover Broccoli Salad; LF String Cheese
2:30pm: Turkey-n-Jack Sandwich on Wheat; Cheez-Its (1 serving); Cake (small piece)
7:00pm: 2 pieces homemade Pepperoni Pizza; Tomato; Cake (small piece)
8:30pm: Ice Cream (1c)
WORKOUT: Treadmill (30min); Upper Body Weights (30min)
RESISTED: More Cake; More Cheez-Its

Jamie, I could not believe how crazy that dog was. DH told me about it when he got out before, but I thought he was exaggerating. Nope, now I know he wasn't! :rotfl:

Amy - you are incredible!! I know I couldn't have resisted more cake! That is one of my weaknesses too!! Great job on the gym and workouts too!!

we had a beagle on the farm when i was growing up....we called that dog every name in the book!! spaz is being nice about it!! he was a lot of fun though!!

I've never had jello shots either! Your journal is a fount of information!! Between the ice cream flavors, jello shots and recipes I'm learning alot! That wine sounds good. Last year at Epcot's wine festival dh & I found a Florida wine we loved. When I came back home I went to a wine store but they didn't stock any Florida wines. Wish that I'd bought some while I was at the festival.

Your puppy is growing up & has hit the terrible teens! My dog was horrible from 8 mos to 18 months. We didn't think she'd survive. When the door was open she'd bolt. We figured out a pattern though. She always went to my son's friend's house. Right before hitting two years old she settled down & quit running away. Good Luck!

Back to the beginning of a new week of workouts and eating right. We are going to do this! I want to be in the 130's in 6 weeks. You and Beth gave me an idea with those protein shakes so I may not cook much this week - just concentrate on the basics. It seems like the more I cook - the worse I eat!

I am already sick of Little League. I can’t believe they have 8pm games for 9-10 year olds. My kids normally go to bed at 8:15pm! On late game nights they won’t get to bed until almost 10pm. I might have my friend start coming over to watch DD6 (I would stay home, but since DH is the coach, I have to help with scorekeeping, etc) because she just can’t handle losing that much sleep. And another thing – DH does not check his e-mail everyday (which he will now!) and the director had sent him a revised schedule (after we had already made copies and handed them out to all the parents). He got the revised schedule last Thursday and it turns out we missed a game the day before! That Wednesday game was not on the original schedule… Nice of the director to call and let us know! And to top it all off, last night everyone got to the game, only to be told that there was a scheduling conflict and all Little League games were cancelled because the Jr High had a game (it is their field). So now we have played a total of 1 game this season, out of 4 scheduled (we won 1 game, had the other team forfeit one, we unknowingly forfeited one and had one cancelled). Oh well, it’s only until the end of May… Yesterday was OK foodwise. I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea and a DC:

6:15am: Egg Beaters w/Cheddar; Oatmeal
8:45am: FF Cottage Cheese; Cantaloupe
11:45am: Leftover Turkey Kielbasa; Leftover Pasta-Roni; Carrots; 2 Caramels
2:30pm: Egg Whites (4); Apple
5:00pm: Balance Bar; FF Cottage Cheese; Quaker Multigrain Minis (9); Peppermint Patties (2)
8:00pm: FF Yogurt; Celery-n-PB (2); Graham Cracker
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Lower Body Weights & Abs (30min); Elliptical (35min)
RESISTED: More caramels, everything in the house since I was so ticked off about the baseball nonsense
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marie, I am glad the cake is gone. If it's not in my face, I don't crave it. I don't know why I feel obligated to eat it just because it is there!
Vanessa, thanks for stopping by!
Jane, I think I am more of a bad influence! All the things you learn about (except the EFL recipes) are all the things that you should avoid to be successful! :rotfl: You have a great goal. I told you that you would probably pass me up! I'm still stuck in the 130's whirlpool and I don't think I'll get out anytime soon...
OY! The whole little league issue. That is not cool of the director with the schedule change so that it is a forefeit on your part. Did the other team show up? I can't believe they have such late games either-kids need sleep!
Ugh! Softball! Thank God those days are over. The very first game I ever watched - ds was 5 or 6 and was playing t-ball. Ds was the catcher. I didn't know why he had to wear so much padding & stuff. Then, the kid trying to bat the ball off the tee, lost his balance, swung around in a big circle & hit ds. I thought that I'd LMAO! I don't think ds thought it was funny, but he was a brave trooper! Sorry that they're giving you such a hard time. It sounds super frustrating.
You were right. The choc mousse recipe is delicious! We loved it. In fact I made more for tonight and doubled it for 4 servings.
Way to go with the workouts! :Pinkbounc You've gotten in over 100 minutes. You'll be hitting the 120's before you know it!
Hi Amy, sounds like you're still working out well and eating great, resisting the tough stuff!!
Little League - that IS late for the little guys. My DD's played T-ball when they were in K and 2nd grade, their games were early - like 6:00 or something that interfered with dinner, but at least they got home and got to bed before it was very late.
And I did finally try the Butter Buds - they've worked out great! thanks for the tip. :sunny:
My Wednesday weigh-in was 138. :sad2: For some reason, I went from 136 on Thu to 138 on Fri and it just stuck there. I know it is water retention because my rings are tight and I get the telltale sock indentations. My Dr said my hormones would be a little out of whack for a while, so I am trying to be patient...
I am officially a member of the nicer gym! I signed up for a year, paid in full. Now I have no excuses. And I have a free fitness consultation on Saturday (they do body fat analysis and show you around). I wrote all the days this month that I want to go to the gym on our family calendar. I am supposed to go today, but I have a Dr appointment at 3:30 so I will have to see how quickly I get out of there (it’s my post-op visit, I am hoping it goes by fast). If it is too late, I will have to go both Thursday and Friday to make my 3x per workweek quota.
We got the puppy neutered yesterday. I was hoping for a day or two of nice, quiet time, but nope! That dog is just as energetic as before! He was buzzing around when we picked him up at the vet! So I guess that is a good thing, since he is obviously not in too much discomfort… Yesterday I got in 80oz of water, 2 cups green tea, 10oz iced tea and a DC:
6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:45am: FF Cottage Cheese; Strawberries
12:00pm: Turkey-n-Jack Sandwich; Carrots; 3 Tootsie Rolls
3:00pm: Egg Whites (4); Apple
6:45pm: Beef Roast; Carrots; Red Potato; Peppermint Patty (2)
8:00pm: FF Yogurt; Quaker Multigrain Minis (10)
WORKOUT: None – I signed up at the new gym during lunch…
RESISTED: Nothing really, I was too busy to think about snacking
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beth, I have no idea if the other team showed up or not. You'd think the other coach would have called the director and the director would have called DH to see what was going on... I know we are not the only parents getting ticked off by the whole thing. We have an 8pm game tonight (supposedly :rolleyes: ) so we'll see how awful it is keeping the kids up so late!

Jane, I love watching DS play, but I get SO nervous when he is up to bat! I am always hoping he doesn't strike out because he gets so mad... Last year (the first year kids pitch and catch) there were a couple times when the catcher went to throw the ball back to the pitcher and would hit the batter in the back of the head with the ball. I would laugh so hard and all the other parents would just glare at me... :rotfl:

Kate, we have 2 different times for games - 6pm or 8pm. Hopefully the late games won't be too traumatic! I'm glad you like the Butter Buds. I love it on steamed veggies...

Don't ya get sick of the water weight crap?! Just when you think you're doing everything right, it sneaks up & attacks. Unfortunately, our hot climates make it worse anyway. You've got a great plan, you're working out & eating well. By next week the water weight will be banished!

I had to read your post twice....the first time I swear it said you weighed 183!! Does that tell you how my day is going?!!
You are doing so good! Keep it up!!
Hopefully the Dr. won't take too long....and he says everything is good to go!! Also, I'm the same way when my kids play soccer!! I HATE it when they are goalie!! My son is really good at defense, but I get sooooo nervous!!

And I can totally relate to being too busy to snack.....heck, I don't think I've eaten dinner in 2 days!! LOL (and that's ok with me!!)

We finally played a baseball game last night (and we won! :cheer2: ). I didn’t make it to the gym after my Dr appointment (my appt was at 3:30 and I didn’t see the Dr until 4:35!). :guilty: I shouldn’t have to go back to the Dr anymore – everything appears to be fine (besides the annoying water retention, which will go away eventually). I can’t wait to start trying some of the classes at the new gym (I am going to attempt to go to On The Ball (7am on Sat) and Total Body Conditioning (8:30am on Sun)). I just can’t seem to drag myself out of bed before 8am on the weekends anymore! But now that Jane is catching up, I better get my butt moving! :teeth: Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea and a DC:

6:20am: Chocolate Oatmeal
9:00am: FF Cottage Cheese; Strawberries
11:45am: Turkey-n-Jack Sandwich; Carrots; 2 Bit-O-Honey
2:30pm: Egg Whites (3); Apple
6:45pm: Taco Salad (Ground Turkey; Romaine; Cheese; 2 Tostada Shells (crunched); Tomato; FF Sour Cream); SF Pudding
WORKOUT: Walking (40min)
RESISTED: A huge chocolate-covered peanut butter egg plus assorted Easter goodies in the breakroom (here we go with the holiday candy in the breakroom nonsense…)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, the water retention has always been my biggest pet peeve! It's not fair that I can gain 5lbs the week before TOM. Now that I won't be having TOM anymore, I am hoping the water retention issue will be getting better as well. Only time will tell...
Marie, I have never weighed 183 in my life! :scared1: Not even when I was preggers! DH struck out once last night and got a base hit the next time. He just gets so ticked off when he isn't perfect (I think the poor kid inherited every one of his dad's bad traits :sad2: )
Congrats on the baseball win! :banana: The season's off to a great start!
Sounds like you've got a great gym. Those classes sound interesting. When I first joined a gym the only classes offered were stretching or aerobics! Things sure have changed. Hey, it'll be hard to catch up to you in exercising. Your workout minutes are always amazing!
That's where all these darn whoppers come from....they are the easter egg whoppers...and i only wish they were down the hall in the breakroom....instead they are sitting on the desk across the room from me....aaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!(it's like they're watching me...calling my name.....it's creepy i tell ya!!)
Congrats on your win!!!
I HAVE to go to the gym today! NO OUTBACK! NO MARTINIS! DH also wants to work out, so that always helps me stay focused. I want to treat tonight like any other night – work out, make dinner and maybe watch a movie. Just because it’s Friday and the kids are gone doesn’t mean we have to go out! And DH has an early golf tournament, so I think I will be able to behave!
I am thinking about changing up my eating a little. Instead of eating a snack between breakfast and lunch, I should save those calories for an after workout snack. I am not too hungry for that mid-morning snack, but I think I am starving the minute I get home from work. I know that goes against the BFL way of eating since I will have about 5 hours between breakfast and lunch, but I have to try it. I think I am eating too many calories… :guilty: Today’s promise to myself is NO candy after lunch. Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, a Minute Maid Light and a DC:
6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:45am: Trail Mix Balance Bar
11:45am: Ground Turkey; Wheat Tortilla; Carrots; 3 Tootsie Rolls (gotta stop this!)
2:30pm: FF Cottage Cheese; Apple
5:00pm: FF Cottage Cheese; 13 Cheez-Its; 5 Quaker Multigrain Minis (before I wondered what the he** I was doing and stopped the madness!)
7:00pm: Meatloaf; Broccoli; SF Pudding; Cool Whip Light
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Upper Body Weights (30min); Treadmill (35min)
RESISTED: More Cool Whip; Almonds
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, it is time to shake things up a bit. I plan on going to the classes this weekend PLUS doing 1/2 hour of cardio after each class. My workouts are the only reason I don't weigh 200lbs...

Marie, isn't it amazing that all holidays revolve around food? What is up with that? Even the 4th of July has special M&Ms, etc. MESSED UP! But we can resist the evil goodies, we can, we can! :cheer2:

Go workout, you'll feel great!! :sunny:

Snacking after your workout sounds like a good idea.

I understand about the candy after lunch. That's one of the toughest things for me! At least I only work downtown twice a week, but that Walgreens on the street level of my building is a killer with their candy deals!!

Have a great weekend! :goodvibes

Way to go with the workout plan! :cheer2: With all of that exercising you'll be too worn out to eat! I can't believe that the weekend is here again! I started out so well this week and have messed up big time again with the burger, snacks, wine etc. Not only that but this month is a triple threat - 2 birthday parties and one Easter!
