I'm taking the train from Boston to Kissimmee early in December. (15 days out...:cool1:) Can someone recommend a good way to get from the station in Kissimmee to AKL? And back about a week later...

I know I could just call Mears for a cab when I get there, but I was hoping for something more like a Town Car service... I know FL TOURS is the sponsor here, but they seem to only go back and forth to the airport.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what, if any, car services run between the Amtrak station and WDW. You may be better off just getting a cab.

Car services don't have assigned routes. Any of them would pick the op up at the train station

I found just the opposite, I spoke with a few car services that wouldn't do a pickup at Kissimmee. I did eventually find one that did, but it is one that can't be mentioned on this board.

I checked several town car sites. None of them offered transportation between the Amtrak station and WDW.

We rode Amtrak on a previous trip and there were Mears shuttles waiting at the station. We were sharing the van with several other families and it took a good bit of time. I would have much preferred a car service. Interested to see what others say about having used one from the train station.

We taking the train soon too. We are getting off at the Orlando stop, they have Hertz on site so we are renting a car right at the station. We are flying back so will drop off the car at the airport. We are paying $330 for an SUV for 8 days. We figured that is not too much more than roundtrip Town Car service and we will have the option to drive to the parks and offsite to dinner and church.

No, they don't have 'assigned routes', but they do have places they don't routinely go to. Will they go to alternative places? Maybe. You would have to call the car service company directly. But I imagine it is going to be costly. And there are going to be some that just flat out don't go to the train station....they are kept busy enough running between MCO and various resorts in Orlando. It probably isn't all that profitable to go to the train stations.

After a bit more googling, I found a company that will go to either the Kissimmee or Orlando AMTRAK stations... Now just gotta book it!

10 Days to go!

Can you please tell me who? We are taking the train down in Jan and I am trying to figure out how we are going to get from point A to point B! Thanks!

1) There are ALWAYS cabs (vans) waiting for trains.
. . . you can get your own
. . . you might get put with others
. . . in all cases, the meter fare is for the cab, not per person
. . . so, if you ride with another family, you can all split the fare and go cheaply
2) You will have no problem getting to Disney.

I used Happy Limo. I called them to make the reservation, though they do have the Amtrak stations listed on their web site.

Given the cost, I kinda think it would be cheaper to rent a car, but I really didn't want to deal with a car. Used Disney transportation for everything, and it never let me down. Longest wait for a bus was about 15 minutes at Downtown Disney.

ETA: If I was going to do the train again, I would get off in Orlando. It looks like its single track starting in Sanford or so, and heading south. It took the train just about an hour to get from Orlando to Kissimmee. Had the same problem going North, the train was delayed due to traffic.

We took Amtrak from NY to Orlando in May and returned the first week of June. We used Tiffany Towncar who picked us up at the Orlando Amtrak station and brought us to POFQ and then we also did a return trip from Universal's Royal Pacific to Orlando Amtrak.
They were on time for both pickups and provided great service.
