We are scheduled on the Silver Meteor, leaving Philadelphia next Friday, March 28th, arriving in Orlando at 12:55pm on Saturday, March 29th. It's our first time using Amtrak,

Last month and the first weekend of March, they were doing track work on the weekends and the trains were ending in Jacksonville and people were being bused from there.

However, I've been checking the status of the train and I see that it ended in Jacksonsville yesterday and Saturday. And now this coming weekend they are also ending in Jacksonville. I'm concerned that we are also going to have to get off in Jacksonville, especially when I don't see anything listed about a service disruption.

So far, there is no indication of a service disruption for Easter weekend. Anyone have any idea what might be going on? I've got my fingers crossed that they won't be doing the track work over the holiday weekend.

Amtrak doesn't own the tracks. They really don't have any say in when track work is done. You could try calling for more information, but if you do have to switch to a bus for the last hour/and a half or so, Amtrak will arrange everything.

Maybe you lucked out because you scheduled your trip over the holiday weekend. We were scheduled to take Amtrak to the KIS station at the end of April and they let us know 2 months prior that there would be track work and we'd have to take the bus 2.5 hrs ... In that amount of time we could fly there, so that's what we are doing. I would call Amtrak just to be sure. Good luck!

It would tick me off to use a bus....

You know I booked a train ride, no buses involved, but stuff happens...

We got pick up at our Home Depot 5 hours late and when we hit the next station, we were ushered off and loaded onto a motor coach to DC, they said the bus would beat the train and we wouldn't miss our connection... About a 6 hour bus ride.... Not liked !

Another time we made it to DC, and after a 6 hour layover, heavy rains washed the tracks out south of DC.... Stranded and Amtrak was no help, after a few hours, Amtrak put us all up in hotel and arranged for motor coaches the next morning to get around problem, reboard train in Richmond or Alexandria after the bus ride ( we lost the first night at WDW )....

So you never know, stuff happens and you just have to plan for the best....like being crammed in a bus... No ! Have complained... Yes, and been compensated.... Hope your luck holds!
