The route from LA to Orlando goes through Texas like an earlier poster wrote. If you go to rail sale and choose the LA to Orlando route you will also be able to see the other stations along the way. The stops in Texas are Houston and San Antonio and if you choose those routes the fare is $30-something to $40-something one-way. We live in Austin and I was thinking about driving to San Antonio to pick up the train. But Amtrak is not like an airplane and does not go from Point A to Point B then from Point B back to Point A. It takes about 38 hours to get to Orlando from San Antonio and even longer than that to get back to San Antonio from Orlando! So even though time is not that important to us since my husband is between jobs and our kids are not yet in full-time school, I'm not sure I could endure a trip that long. It is twice as long as it would take us to drive and once there we would have to rent a car. But on the other hand, it might be a nice opportunity to take a leisurely trip and enjoy the sights.
