Hi :D

Visiting WDW from the UK again in August with my brother and his family ( first timers)

I believe that most American schools start back some time in August and therefore queues at the parks are reduced. Can anyone advise on this so that we can plan our park visits accordingly ?

We are there from August 5th to August 21st

Thanks

Here in Indiana, about 1200 miles north of Orlando, the kids start back around 8/16. Some schools won't start back until after Labor Day, which is 9/6. We went in early June last year, a lot of the kids weren't done with school yet, so the crowds were very manageable.

I am from nj and 99% of schools here in the northeast don't start back until the first week in September. Most schools that start back in August are in the South and even those don't start back until mid-late august. I think most kids are still on summer vacation for at least the beginning week or two of your trip.

Interestingly....my son starts back this fall on July 29th. Many of the schools in the South have trended more toward the "year-round" school year. Opting to have shorter summer breaks (8 weeks) and take longer fall and spring breaks (2 weeks a piece) and longer holiday breaks (3-4 weeks).

Most of the schools here in GA and I'm pretty sure FL start back about the 2nd week of August anymore. And if they're in band, football, softball or cheerleading - they start back with practices sooner then that! I know they offer some great discounts for August so I imagine you'll be pretty safe with those dates! Even the colleges that are on the semester system start back in August anymore!

I don't know about anywhere else, but here in MS school is starting on August 9th for 2004.

We are FL resident Seasonal Pass holders. Our passes are blacked out from April 3 - April 15, June 12 - August 19, and December 18 - January 1. This means these are the busiest times of the year (Easter vacation/Spring break, Summer vacation, and Christmas.) Looks like you will be there for the tail end of the summer busy season. :(

Here in southwestern PA our schools always start the last Monday in August, it will be August 30 this year.

In Virginia most schools start back after Labor Day, which is September 6. I think it is the same for DC and Maryland also.

We're in Vermont and while some schools start around the 30th of August, most start back after Labor Day. Colleges Too.

East Tennessee we're back in on Aug11,2004!

We are outside of Phila, Pennsylvania and we start back the day after Labor Day (the 1st Monday in Sept.).

Del:)

I'm from MA... Our schools traditionally start after Labor Day (1st week in Sept.), yet some have opted to begin the last week in August.

August 2 in Wilson County, Tennessee - 2 weeks off first 2 full weeks in October (our trip :hyper: ) 2 weeks at Christmas and 2 weeks again in April 2005.

Does anyone know when FL schools get out for holidays in the fall? We will be there in October and I'm wondering if I made the wrong choice this year. We just didn't want to risk it being as cold as it can get in Nov. and Dec. I'm really wondering about Columbus Day and any fall breaks. Thanks!

Well, hello to another Wilson countian!!!

Don't make your April ressies yet--the school board may change those dates due to the state changing the achievement testing dates for next year.
