:) Only 7 people saw that save coming. I think it was a completely pointless save which is going to bite the judges in the butt next week when Allison is in the bottom 2 next week - hopefully with Gokey. The thought of him doing disco is traumatizing.

I know Gokey is going to try something like Earth Wind and Fire or KC and the Sunshine Band and FAIL!!!!!!

Adam can go campy disco easily. Kris can do it as well. Anoop will probably do a female styled ballad.

Matt-- not so sure.

Lil will do Gaynor's I will survive and fail miserably.

Alison will probably try an early Blondie and perhaps succeed.

Huge BeeGee's fan here, can't wait for next week. Guess I'm showing my age and proud of it!:dance3:

Wow. They used the save. I'm surprised they saved Matt, but I'm not surprised they used a save this week.

Not a Miley fan, my DD is a huge one though. She wants to see the movie, but I don't.

Going to watch Lost. Hope to catch up on posts later.

Why? Why? Why? Why let Lil come so close to going home, only to have her STAY???? :headache: I'm glad they used the save on Matt, so Lil will always wonder if they would have used it on her or not. :confused3 (Not.)

As for disco week, prepare to have Lil sing "I Will Survive," without a doubt. But since she can't sing the word "will" the song will be "I Wi' Survive." :rotfl: She is useless and I've been ready to see her go for a while now. Once she got major attitude, I wanted her gone all the more.

I think Adam should do It's Raining Men by Gloria Gaynor!!!

He can do anything Donna Summer too.

I could also see Allison trying something from Deborah Harry. It might suit her throaty style...

She could even do a Donna Summer if she tries hard. But I see her trying on an early Blondie song first.

The Weathergirls did It's Raining Men... but that is an 80's song not a true 70's disco song.

I said in my list he could do Grace Jones' I need a Man!

Miley Cyrus would NEVER have made it past Hollywood week (if that far) if she was a contestant on Idol. Blech! So, I'm surprised the used the save on Matt but whatever. Maybe next week we'll get rid of him AND Lil!

Oops. Then it certainly isn't disco. I betcha we can come up with a bunch of good ones for him!

Disco is a somewhat fluid term though. Disco was and will always be club music. Club music still has disco sounds and has a bit of an excessive tone and sound to it.

Many mainstream artists were influenced by the Disco sound. Think of David Bowie... heavily influenced. (Fashion, Fame). Elton John had a disco style sound as well (Island Girl). Deborah Harry-Blondie, once considered a punk musician fell into disco /club music influence.

There are so many artists that could be disco-ish. The Commodores are a great example... Brick House and Lady-- You Bring Me up are singles with disco sounds but not exactly disco sounds.

Anything released between say 1974 to say 1981 could be considered disco if it has a great beat and you can dance to it.

I like the songs in red, don't want to hear some of them done on Idol, but boy do they bring back memories.

I was one of the cynical ones that said no one. ....

See I have a hard time noting that Rick James is considered disco... Same with Madonna. I think that Rick James, Prince and Madonna would be club music and not necessarily disco music per se.

I think Idol will lump the two into one category. If you were dancing to it in a club, it will be considered "disco" by Idol. I can attest to dancing to Rick James until the clubs turned on the lights and threw us out at closing time.::yes:: :dance3: Ahhhh, the joys of a fake ID and youth. :lmao:

Gimme that stuff, that sweet, that stuff, that funky stuff....:rotfl2: Yes, Rick was a true freak, but he could get a club on its feet. :thumbsup2a,

See I think so as well. I like my disco and club music to be considered separate entities. I don't think my Pet Shop Boy extended dance remixes would be disco.

To me disco died when the popularity of Studio 54 waned.
